Great reaction. If you follow any of the other suggestions you were given you will find they will be singing and they will be more like you were expecting after watching The First Take video. I will try to explain a bit about what happened here.
There can't be many bands who would crucify their lead singer on stage to celebrate her 16th birthday (Legend 1997 was the title of the show celebrating her 16th birthday in December 2013).
There is an English translation of the intro video in the description which would have helped a bit (perhaps) with understanding what was happening:
    "Legend 1997.
It is told that receiving the legendary neck brace from the god of Metal,
she shall abandon her human life and be reborn as a goddess.
The bloodline which has been passed down from ancient times
is destined to be the guide, boarding the ark of time.
    The apocalypse is prophesied
    DOOMSDAY comes
There remains ... little time ..."
Basically this show was the final step in BABYMETAL transitioning from Idol group sub-unit (it had this narrative running all the way through and even started with a lip-synced dance remix of their song 'Headbanger') to independent metal band - it was also Su-metal's final step in her transition from J-Pop Idol - she was sacrificing her human existence and life as Suzuka Nakamoto, a J-Pop Idol, to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess chosen to lead the Metal Resistance.
They just borrowed the most recognisable symbology for re-birth or resurrection with the crucifixion - some people think there is some sort of religious disrespect, that is not so. This is no different to western bands using eastern religions' symbols because they heard a basic meaning of whatever symbol they used and it fitted with their theme or because they thought it looked cool.
'BABYMETAL Death' was the first track on the first album and was most often used as the show opener (without the crucifixion) - it is the perfect introduction - that is what the lyrics are:-
"B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L Death Death Death Death Death Death. Su-metal death. Yuimetal death. Moametal death. BABYMETAL death. Death Death Death Death Death Death."
It is a play on words. There is no 'TH' sound in Japanese, so to a Japanese speaker the English word death sounds like desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp. Desu means "To be - I am - you are - we are - it is" etc ...
All they were doing throughout the song was introducing themselves by name and introducing BABYMETAL by name - and 'death' is just the sort of thing you'd expect to be chanted by any self respecting metal band and their audience while the lead singer is crucified.
There were a couple of homages in this performance too. The opening drum riff is an homage to Metallica's 'One' and the statue crumbling at the end pays homage to Metallica's Justice For All tour of 1989 where they also had a statue (Lady Justice) crumble at the end of their shows. The neck brace is a tribute to X Japan drummer/pianist/songwriter/composer Yoshiki who damaged his neck so badly headbanging that he had to wear a neck brace a lot of the time, especially when performing.
On special occasions 'BABYMETAL Death' was used later in the show - it was the finale here at Legend 1997, the show celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday ... and they only crucify Su on special occasions.

Jajaja.

They repeat “babymetal desu” and “desu” (pronounced dess in Japanese. Desu simply means “we are”. So they are saying we are babymetal.
Japanese does not have the “th” sound so when they say death, it is often pronounced dess.
In su-metal’s genius, she means both. So the crowd chants death death death death while she is being crucified.
    Cute + Metal = WIN!!

When I saw that your first BABYMETAL reaction was "Monochrome" First Take and now this, I told myself "Boy, this poor lady is in for a shock! You couldn't have found two songs so completely different by BABYMETAL!" "Monochrome" is laid back, melodic, and in-studio (and not among their best, IMO) whereas "BABYMETAL Death" is heavy metal, live, and total theater.
First, the concert is called "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" because it is taking place on Su-metal's sixteenth birthday. The story behind the theater is that Suzuka Nakamoto is leaving the life of a J-pop idol and becoming the metal goddess Su-metal. Who needs a birthday party when you can be crucified by your friends and colleagues in front of thousands of fans? 😁
The “WTF did I just watch” reaction is typical among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that reaction. Whoever recommended this after watching "Monochrome" did you wrong. It's pretty obvious that I was right and this threw you for a loop but don't stop reacting to BABYMETAL! They have songs about waking up in the morning getting ready for school ("Doki Doki Morning"), the concerns about eating too much chocolate ("Gimme Chocolate!!"), playing hide and seek/tag with a Japanese ogre ("Catch Me If You Can"), and many other wonderful songs. This was back when BABYMETAL made listening to metal music fun. This was back when they were kawaii metal.
I've compiled a list of BABYMETAL's top twenty songs/videos on TH-cam (in my opinion) and perhaps it will help you in any further exploration of BABYMETAL.
    th-cam.com/play/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj.html
Finally, I suggest that you avoid compilation and fancam videos like the plague: compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Watching a BABYMETAL compilation video is like eating prime rib after somebody else chewed it. You won't be reacting to BABYMETAL, you'll be reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL. And fancams generally have terrible quality and sound thus being basically a waste of time.
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

    Nice reaction, thanks!
Okay... way too early "BMD" in my opinion (song's name is "BABYMETAL Death", btw).
Nothing to see here. Just Su-metal celebrating her 16th birthday with her friends and some of their fans (like 9.000 of them) all chanting DEATH! DEATH! DEATH! DEATH!... haha... 😁
Now seriously, this performance is from the concert Legend 1997 (SU-METAL seitan sai) aka SU-METAL 16th birthday party and took place on December 21st, 2013 at the Makuhari Messe event hall in Makuhari City, Chiba.
Lyrics are quite simple: "B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L" "SU-METAL desu", "YUIMETAL desu", "MOAMETAL desu", "BABYMETAL desu" "Death death death death death death..." etc Desu (the U is silent so it sounds like the English word death, pretty much means "I am, you are, we are" so they were introducing themselves. This was usually an opening song (so the little singing) but this time they used it as a closing number. The meaning of the whole thing is the sacrifice of SU-METAL, giving up her mortal life as a human and Idol to reborn as a metal Goddess.
The beat at the intro and the final statue crumbling are homages to Metallica. The neckbrace thing is an homage to X-Japan.
Let me suggest you this one, a more "normal" (so to speak) live performance, I believe you will enjoy more: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html
Here is the translation of the narration on the intro (credits to Du-metal):
    Legend One-Nine-Nine-Seven.
It is the story that, receiving the legendary corset from the god of the Metal,
she abandons being human and shall be reborn as a goddess.
The gene which has been determined from ancient time
is destined to be guided, boarding on the ark of time.
    The apocalypse prophesied
    the DOOMSDAY. Towards it,
    there remains...
    little time...

@Hymnodic i was thinking about showing how well Su could sing around the same time as BabyMetal Death performance was made . We might as well only ask reactors to watch newer performances. As you said, Su's vocals are a lot more mature and more impressive, which i did think about asking to react to the 2021 Budokan performance at first .

Some really wanted to see your surprise/shock and I guess that worked.
I would not have recommended that myself.
Yes, this isn't a good sing to show their singing abilities obviously, this is why it wasn't a good suggestion. But it does show Babymetal can put on an amazing live performance and has great crowd participation as you said.
Legend 1997 is the show to celebrate Su-metal, the lead singer, 16th birthday, her birth year is 1997. This is why it's in the name of the show.
This was the closing song/performance. As Jay pointed out, it's actually a pun/word play.
Babymetal knows how to put on a show ! They have stories and symbolism, etc. But they don't explain, fans need to form their own opinion, but their are widely accepted theories, etc.
The story of this show is that Su-metal/Suzuka was a J-Pop Idol, that's what her origin is and as she got older she is transitioning into a "Metal Goddess" (she is a great performer for certain, even at that age) and the way this would be symbolized is by her death and rebirth. Rebirth is Japanese media has been used as a way to signify a transformation, I guess like a caterpillar and a butterfly or 'leveling up' in a game.
The neck brace is the 'sacred neck brace' from the Headbanger music video, which is meant to be a sort of 'training tool' for her learning to 'head bang'. And also a reference to legendary Japanese band,X-Japan's, the drummer/song writer and pianist of X-Japan did so much head banging that his doctors told him he can't perform anymore. So his work around is to wear a neck brace while performing. He's had a lot of surgeries never really recovered. He had a weak body since birth, so it's not a big surprise. He actually often wears a scarf when not performing.
My recommendation from last time was: Ijime,Dame,Zettai at Sonisphere, UK 2014, still a good suggestion.

Nice reaction. This is just how Babymetal celebrated Su's 16th birthday. Yup I don't know anyone else who celebrated that way either. LOL. Babymetal is a special band. They just do things differently. For their 10th year anniversary, they did an even hard version of the song call the Shin version. Not as long but even heavier. This performance had a bunch of tributes in it. The music started with a tribute to Metallicas song ONE. The Statue breaking up at the end represented a few things. The end of Babymetal as an Idol JPOP group. Also, in tribute to Metallica as they did the same thing during their And Justice For All tour. They would break up the statue of Justice in the back of the stage. Now on to them doing a tribute to the biggest Japanese metal band at the time. X Japan. The drummer hurt his neck from headbanging so hard and had to wear a neck brace. This neck brace tribute appears in a few videos by Babymetal. Even with all that heavy metal going on Babymetal still found a way to be Kawaii. Because at that time that is just part of who they are. While putting the neck brace on Su. Yui and Moa start to giggle. And then Moa has to fix Su's hair because you have to look good while being sacrificed. Fun is in the details with Babymetal sometimes. This whole concert was done as a Rock Opera. Telling the story of how Babymetal gave up their jpop idol life to become metal rock stars. It even started with a remix club version of their song Headbanger. They had some fun telling this story. As Su goes down to pop hell for the performance of that song. And then is raised up to do the rest of the metal show. Overall, this is the transition Babymetal made going from the Jpop world of music. Where many experts feel they would either as separate artist or even together would have been very successful. Instead, they took the Road of Resistance. Nothing was given to them. They earned every they have. When they started Babymetal the record company they belong to barely gave them a budget to film their first video. That is for Doki Doki Morning. The video is all filmed in one room, and they had to barrow cloths to film it. Through talent and growing skills and a stage presence that is unmatched Babymetal became what they are today. And to think this song was all about them introducing themselves. I am Su-metal. I am Yuimetal. I am Moametal. B A B Y M E T A L BABYMETAL. That's a mouthful lol and yet still very entertaining. Please continue your journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Yea, not sure who told you to watch this song next, but you pretty much jumped from a suana into the arctic ocean. If you want a reaction that better portrays Babymetal, then I'd recommend either their song entitled Megitsune, or their song Headbanger. Both of those songs are probably their biggest fan favorites. Regardless of what song you choose next though, I think you saw from this song alone that Babymetal is meant to be viewed live. That is where they shine brightest and that is how they are kind of meant to be taken in. On the bright side, you've gotten their most ... dramatic song out of the way, so you won't have any more insane shockers like that. The next biggest shocker is probably either their song Iine (not Line, but 2 letter 'i's and is pronounced E-nay), or their song Gimmie Chocolate. That being said, neither as as crazy as Babymetal Death. If you'd like to hear the singer sing more of a balland type song, then I'd recommend either No Rain, No Rainbow or their song Akatsuki Unfinished. Both are heart-string tugging songs. Akatsuki Unfinished was sung when Su-Metal was only 16. In fact it was performed at the same concert as the video you just reacted to. It was the only time she performed this song in a concert live. Lastly, just from the 2 reactions you've done already, you can already tell that Babymetal doesn't really fall into that catagory of once you've heard one song, you kind of know what to expect from their other songs. These ladies like to explore and mix things up, so you never really do know what to expect with them. So if you stick around and continue reacting to them, then have fun! :)

Rondo of Nightmare, algo intermedio, es pesada y oscura, mi favorita personal

That Death song, more of an insert than a song, was not a good example to start.
I strongly suggest starting your journey with the Babymetal girls by reacting to Road of Resistance (live in Japan) on their channel at: www.youtube.com/@BABYMETAL/videos
BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) link below:
    th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html
I believe you will enjoy it a lot and get to know the group much better.
This video has 33 million views at the moment.
    That's awesome!
By the way, Legend 1997, was the name of the Show referring to the birth of the Main Vocalist, Suzuka Nakamoto (SuMetal), born on December 20, 1997 (age 25 years old). She is the Legend!

Hmmm. Who suggested that you go from The First Take to this? Didn’t watch your reaction to it because I refuse to watch them perform this anymore. This is not BabyMetal. No choreography, No lyrics. Just shock value and disrespect of a faith (I don’t want to hear from the usual “just a culture” crowd so spare me.
To be fair it is my opinion that it was done to appease those haters who did not consider BabyMetal to be real metal.
I hope that this anomaly does not dissuade you from further exploration of BabyMetal.
There are so many great LIVE song/performances that I am sure you have not seen (over 50) and you may wish to give high quality seamlessly edited compilation videos of BabyMetal LIVE performances (they use LIVE audio from one concert but the visuals come from multiple concerts. The algorithms do not generally recognize the multiple tracks and they are generally safe from copyright). If interested try compilations from the following excellent channels: Kurokiitsunesama ferr For The Fox God K.S. who? Also Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls is generally safe because it is under different copyright status. Megitsune LIVE at Budokan 2021 Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan (need filter or slightly blurred visuals for your viewers but worth it) Headbanger LIVE at 1997 Legend Concert (also slightly blurred visual filter but worth it) or Kurnesama’s compilation (excellent) Tales of the Destinies LIVE (visual filter but worth it) Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro compilation no filter needed. Good luck. Until next time.

I think you're reading more into this performance than what is there, but if you want to be closed minded and a hater, then that's your problem.

    • @rah2287
      @rah2287 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Filboid2000 Ahh you again.
Closed minded? Nah I just don’t want to be so open minded like you that my brains fall out.
Hater? Riiiiiight. Good luck with that.

@exoperzian12 then you would have fewer reactors making a second BabyMetal reaction. (My opinion of course)

@@Filboid2000 He's clearly not a hater. Let's not throw fans under the tour bus just because they have one thing we don't all agree on.
