Really smooth and reliable, what more could you want, when washing clothes. I did notice that it started to do a spin drain rather than a neutral drain which is what this washer is suppose to do. A minor repair.
it's really a shame that Whirlpool/Kenmore/Maytag stopped making these line of washers. They were really good. Now all there is are these computerized impeller washers that's not popular and supposed to energy efficient but take almost twice as long to do a load. I hope whirlpool wakes up and realises how much customers they will loose to Speed Queen and restart the process of rebuilding this model of washers.
I just bought a kenmore 80 series washer from 1999 for $150. I don't like the newer washing machines with the "idiot" lights and all that efficency non-sense. I am hoping to get a few years out of it. Now that it's 2019 is yours still working?

J VON J Archie I just bought one from a private seller. I see these washers all over Craigslist, OfferUp, letgo, etc.
Actually Speed Queen is also losing customers.
or at least make them wash better, though i’d prefer if they bring back DDs

check the neutral drain pack. i’m pretty sure this washer isn’t supposed to spin drain.

Is it normal for the machine to begin to spin during the spin cycle with water not fully drained? If not, what is the fix?

Yes. Did a bit of a overhaul on it a year or so ago. New motor, spin clutch, start capacitor. These are easy to work on.
why it does slip into spin drain a whole cycle??

I thought the washer was supposed to do neutral drain, not drain/spin.
sometimes if their is soap build up or softner buildup, it may go to drain spin instead of neutral drain.

11:21 part spin drain
5:19 agitation
Neutral drain is broken
