  • Insulating the shop ceiling is very important for several reasons. It makes the shop more comfortable with temperature but also helps to reduce moisture buildup. I am using R-19 fiberglass insulation with craft backing. Staples are used to attach the insulation to the 24" on center roof trusses. On the eves I am using Styrofoam baffles. These foam channels allow air to flow from the vented soffits to the ridge cap. This pulls how air from the lower part of the roof to the upper part and takes moisture with it.

The more "finished" the building is the more time it seems to take on each task.

Why no radiant barrier on bottom of roof deck?

Was any vapor barrier used or needed? Thank you.

The only vapor barrier was the backing on the insulation. I now have a mini split in this space and that takes care of the moisture.

@@sethcraftworkshop that’s interesting because my plan initially is to have a mini split in the shed. So perhaps I don’t need a vapor barrier either then? Also, how is the efficiency of the mini split in the shed with the insulating that you did?

Friend, you need an N95 mask to protect your lungs. The bandana isn’t goid enough. Please look into what I am saying before you simply dismiss it.
