    I watched this one 4 weeks ago but I decided that it was time to relive the adventure! Like when I went to Maverick Top Gun for the second time which by the way, if you haven't seen it, and I know that it's hard to get to current run films near a national park YOU GOT TO SEE IT!! Best film in ages and WAY better than the original!

    You guys are total STUDS! I assume the Park Service has seen your encounter with the Grizzly and cubs, if not, you should definitely show them, it is a good example how well you guys handled the encounter and also your shot showing how fricking fast the bears covered ground, is in of itself worth showing and a great educational guide to the public (bears are fast!). Love these videos and thank you very much for documenting your hikes...really makes me want to drop everything and hit the road for Yellowstone!

    Hi PJunkie😎
    Have u ever watched utube videos by Stan Mills?
    He’s in or near YSTONE a lot but deals with bear interaction much differently.
    Not sure what I’d do but appreciate both of your responses.
    Stan’s latest is interesting. U might enjoy it.
    Thks again for ur utubes. Always enjoy 😬

    • @theparkjunkie
      @theparkjunkie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I have seen his videos, & I have seen his latest, where he talks about remaining silent rather than announcing your presence. After this interaction, I have evolved to opt for that option too. I would handle this situation differently now, in hindsight. I’m hoping to do a sit down with Clint soon, & discuss our interaction, & what we did right, wrong & how we’d each handle this in the future. Bottom line in Yellowstone is if you’re gonna hit the backcountry repeatedly, you’re gonna see some grizzly bears…
      Thanks for the insightful feedback, thanks for watching!

    why did y'all split up when she was charging? super interesting video, it does kind of seem like the hey bear might have called her in

    • @theparkjunkie
      @theparkjunkie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I believe she reacted to our voices. We didn't really discuss our individual direction prior to, or during the actual charge. My thought was to get behind a tree, thinking that the creature must slow down and come around the tree to get to me. I was ready to deploy the spray as she approached, but I also figured I could get good spray on her when she slowed to round the tree I was behind.
      I think it may be wise to split up into close proximity, as to confuse the bear, and to not give her two birds with one stone... so to speak....

    • @theparkjunkie

    That was good thinking to keep your camera going. That is the best bear charge I have seen recorded. I bet that made for a lasting memorable trip! You really did a great job watching for bear signs.

      Looking back, of course I wish the recording was better, but I had a few other things on my mind, as you can imagine... 😳 I really wanted to get behind a tree... not sure that would really matter, but it sure felt more secure.
      I now question the wisdom of announcing our presence in that circumstance. My thinking is leading me to announce my presence in heavy vegetation, and stay quiet in the meadows and open areas where I have a wider field of view.
      Thanks for the comment, I have watched many of your videos and you seem to encounter quite a few of these creatures.

    God, that brings back an amusing story. We were at Yellowstone and everyone except me got out of the van to go look (from a respectable distance) at a suspected bear cub. Well, no one was quite sure but someone heard some branches rustle and literally all 6 of them dove back into the van faster than I've ever seen anyone move.
    Grizzly: Hold my beer...

    Wow, what a day, and one you and Clint won't soon forget! Two peaks and a mama bear charge in one day! That was one healthy looking bear for sure, those three little ones are well taken care of.
    You did everything right in that encounter.

      We’re gonna have a sit down discussion in an upcoming video, where Clint & I discuss our moves during the charge. After reflecting on the scene, I’m not sure that I would repeat my actions. Stay tuned, & thanks for watching!

    I normally don't comment on video's, but this was amazing! I don't think I will ever be able to go and visit those beautiful parcs, but watching your video's is the next best thing! Thank you so much for all your video's, love them! Love from The Netherlands
