Not just a smoke show but also the best instructor on the tube....I now understand why internet beefs happen....the envious jealous covetous disease is real...thanks for being so damn awesome Shell
There are many hundreds of chipping videos out there but this is fast becoming my favourite. Really, really clear explanation. Love the 'thumbs pointing at the ground' tip, the demonstration of the shoulder movement and what not to do, and the alignment stick behind the ball drill. I shot 5 over gross today in a tournament and three times i putted from exactly the distance Michele is demonstrating from because i was too scared to chip...I three putted twice. Should have been such easy 'up and downs'. Will be working through these tips, huge thanks Michele.
weakening my grip and shoulder movement, Thank You! Lately my chipping has been going left but weakening my grip is my medicine. Also shoulder movement explanation was genius~! This is why you have 0 down vote lol. Have a great weekend Michele!
Wonderful tips, Michele, and great video. I had a not-great round this morning due to poor chipping. My offences were rotating my shoulders-not tilting, and forgetting that my grip should be more putter-like to reduce "wristiness" in my swing. Thanks!!
Thanks Michelle, I just discovered your channel. It is really great. Your lessons are clear and well done. I can not wait to follow your tips on the course!
I watched another video this morning from another TH-camr who explained how to use the bounce (opening the face slightly) to prevent digging the leading edge in … and it worked TODAY great. I think I have the technique down, but occasionally get inconsistent results because the leading edge digs. Opening the clubface just a bit allows me to use the bounce. 👍🏻 The rough here around the green in the Midwest (US) is brutal. Keep up the good work, Michele 👊🏻
You are an amazing coach. I just found your channel today and i have already learned so much. You make it so simple and easy to understand. My chipping already improved after watching one of your videos. I'm glad I found you. I'm eager to watch some more of your videos.
Thanks Michele good information on chipping. I’ve been practicing with alignment sticks to get the right angle, trying different grips, and the thumbs pointing down. On my own I discovered that you must commit to the shot you’re making if you stop swing early it’s no good follow through to get best results. I’m learning a great deal from your videos keep up the good work. Thanks again for a job well done
michelle you really are a terrific teacher and coach. your passion and understanding shine through and you explain difficult concepts so well. you deserve a much larger following. olease keep at it, word will spread.
Nice tips n drills Michele. Cannot wait to try it on the range and hopefully, i will be able to shave a few more strokes off the front and back.😁😁 Thank you so much and stay safe & healthy!👌👍👍👏👏👏
Once again, clear, concise instructions , more please on shots a little further away, 20,30 metres, if at all possible ... Thankyou for your help, won my first comp in 10 years recently.
Played yesterday and was chunking every chip; however, by trial & error, I found NOT breaking the wrist (i.e., pointing your thumbs at the ground) resulted in correcting this error. I made fantastic chips after making the change and never 'chunked' another chip. ONCE AGAIN(!) I learned that watching Michele's teaching videos saves you strokes on the course. I now refer everyone to your channel. Thanks for taking the time and effort to produce these focused, straight forward and simple to grasp golf instruction videos!
So this is the right ball position for a good chipping...ball just inside the heel of the right foot. While my pro tutor taught me with the ball at the middle/center of the feet. Thanks a lot. will try to practice this one...Have a nice day...Stay safe...Cheers!!!
Michele, you haven't mentioned about the true technique of maintaining the solid hit. The key is to maintain the level of the hands upon impact which can only be perfected through lots of practice. Level of the hands means the distance of the hands from the ground which can be maintained through muscle memory or reflexes (or the secondary focus). The primary focus must be the ball, and the secondary focus is the plain of the hands from the ground, in order that perfect brushing of the grass can be achieved.
I find your lessons super helpful. Any chance you could do one on shanking? I have it happen when I’m wanting to take a half or 3/4 swing with my wedge and when I hit my 5 iron from the tee box. It’s crazy and really throws my confidence out the window the rest of the round.
this is good, while wet courses present a challenge they require that you ve much more precise and can help you identify and correct weak ball striking. it is the same for driving range matts vs regular courses. you will think you are much better than you are off driving range matts because the matt allows you to slide into a shot rather than to strike the ball. when it rains rush to practice
One of the best channel I discovered on YT in a long time. Just practice a hour at the range doing these chips. I hope you can answer my biggest mystery question in golf. I’m getting mix answer from different instructors. Do you aim at the ball or guide the club with your right arm or left arm? I have a good swing, but I struggle with my 2 arms fighting for dominance during the swing. I hope my question make sense.
I have to look at your swing. But my dominant arm is my left. This is full swing. For chipping, I barely put pressure on the grip as I like to feel the weight of the club.
@@michelelowgolf7501 you are left handed? You left arm is your golf dominate arm? Is it because every golfer is different. I know I have ask friends who are good golfers, I have gotten 2 different answers. Some say they whip the club around with their left arm, some say they swing/throw the club at the ball with their right arm. That’s why is been a mystery for me
great explanation about chipping. I didn't know the thumb. I also didn't know that standing a bit more upright that the heel of the club does not touch the ground. I'm going to work with it and can pass it on to my wife. unfortunately she is left handed.
Great tip video and happy to see you out at the course. Look forward to seeing more. Maybe what sort of thought processes you go through when approaching a shot as you play a few holes or maybe a friendly competition vid 🙂⛳️
@Michelle Low Excellent video! Does the setup change with different lies (rough, ball sitting up, uphill/downhill/sidehill? Also, how firm should grip pressure be? Thanks, love your videos! 😊
For chipping not a big change but still need to set up so the body adapt to the lie. Like shoulders parallel with the slope. I would say 6/10 for grip pressure
Great work, as always, you lovely lady! Key points… ball position and standing a bit taller. Michele, help me to understand how to and why I get caught up in thick grass ( probably 2-3”) around the green just outside the first cut, especially when you are close to pin. Thanks…
Thanks for your advice. I still suffered the yips after following your chipping tips. I practice chipping 20 mins before every match with decent success. I believe for me my problem is shoulder tension from lack of confidence. I heard something listening to PGA commentators during a tournament. They said push the club back with your left arm and back to the ball with your right. It worked for me on a few chips. Hopefully I can end this long running issue. Quick question. I have a 50 degree then 56 degree wedges. Which would you prefer. I think both have 14 degrees of bounce.
Really good lesson. Love the thumbs down sensation. Because I’m closer I feel like my contact is more consistent and closer to the toe. What degree of wedge are you using?
Hi michelle, Really good video. I’m struggling to hit the ball perfectly when the ball sitting up thick grass or sitting inside thick grass. 1) do you recommend wedge 54 deg or 58 deg ? I have both 2) can I apply bump and run technique ? As per your recommendation, I can use P or iron-9 for bump and run.
The thumbs to the ground is very similar to what my instructor had me doing for short chips basically uncocking the wrists to the extent that the toe was down and the heel up a little. Made it very difficult to hit a bad chip shot.
Michele ~ For me, your lessons work because you show me what not to do and explain why plus what to do and explain why. Walk in beauty.
Thank you. Hope it helps
