Yay, I'm so glad that you've reacted to this! It took her a year to write the three parts of Genesis. I love how she is shining a light on real issues that people are going through and creating these conversations. The creativity and sheer brilliance of the cinematography to bring the message of the song to life is so fire 🔥 I'm really sorry to hear about how addiction has affected your family and sending well wishes to you all. Thank you for sharing. I agree that there should be much more compassion in these conversations. Sending love from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤
Where she's in the cinema audience is a reference back to her other single Escapism and yes RAYE has struggled with her own addictions, weed, booze, pills, she credits her faith, shes a christian, with helping her to become clean and sober, she grew up in the church, her English Dad was the musical director of the choir, her Swiss-Ghanaian Mom a member of it. Genesis is exactly 7 mins long, was released on a limited edition viynl on the 7th of the month costing £7.77, her bite of the apple in the video , giving in to temptations, being in the dark then emerging into the light, we all need light, biblical references, her whole debut album is a record of her journey to date, personal and professional, Ice Cream man is a hard song to listen to as others have said but will resonate with many people, she's vunerable, honest, raw, sharing herself through her music, her story but also social commentary too, she's a true artist
This video in intertwined with her escapism video .where she is wearing the black dress and smudged makeup at the nightclub.. seems that she paid a visit to this video from her escapism video
Hey Aaron, so glad you resumed your journey with RAYE! You might enjoy to watch the recording session for part iii which, other than parts i & ii was recorded live with a big band, it's on her channel and I love the vibe of it, but you may watch that privately as she has so many other great recordings and time is limited, and you've now already heard it, just not seen it, as for the video she wanted to show scenes of real human interaction and ordinary people, and kids, who are our future... You are right, of course all of this is very personal to her and she's been through it, she's not just making stuff up... There's an interview where she speaks about how she broke free from the label that restricted her and how she was thinking about who and what she wanted to be as an artist, and she said she wanted to be honest and real, and she introduced Genesis on her Instagram with a quote by Nina Simone: “it is an artists duty to reflect the times”. RAYE adores Nina and is very familiar with her music, it was RAYE who put my attention to Nina's incredible "Baltimore" in a podcast... I'm sure you've already laid a path out for some future reactions to her, so for the moment I'll just wait and see what you come up next with, but when you're getting deeper into the RAYEbbithole I might show you some chambers with hidden treasures, some of her greatest recordings have a ridiculously low number of views... You have a beautiful Sunday with your family and kids, peace and love from BavaRAYEa!
You should react to her lives performances. Is totally different than the studio’s version! Her vocals, dude, is totally crazy. She’s amazing! Her live performances singing “It’s a man’s, man’s world”? Tough!
Bless you for Do you understand why I call this a masterpiece??? Trust me, check out her single and video for "Ice Cream Man". Its difficult to watch but so important
@@iangudgin6536 Yes, and if you know the background of how she did it, as an independent artist, on a small budget, it's even more amazing! Aaron is right, the choreography in pt.ii is not perfect, but given that these are just fans and friends helping out on thy fly with only a couple hours to practice makes it even more amazing, and nobody's perfect anyway...
Rayes just been nominated for best New artist and best song writer at The Grammys, lets hope she gets her flowers.
