    Without a doubt, one of the best color grading tutorials I've watched! Easy to follow, well explained, and no LUTs! This is the first time I've tried following along with my own footage and had it look natural at the end!

    Just the video I needed! I've been battling with grading Slog2 footage for so long - trying different Input LUTs and such, nothing gave me the results I truly wanted. I even tried just playing with the Lumetri panel and doing it myself, but using the colour wheels like you demonstrated in this video whilst keeping an eye on the RGB parade is such an awesome method! The footage that I tested it on looks great. Thanks so much!

      *sorry for bugging you buddy, im really knew to camera and the settings and stuff, my last question is how do you under exposed on the slog 3. sorry budy, straight up noob here when it comes to camera settings lol*

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +YourTechGuide No worries bro! Ask all the questions you want! Seriously, I love helping everyone here! If you’re filming in S-Log3, you should NEVER under expose because the shadows will be too grainy. Always over expose by 2 stops. You can check to see if your exposure is right by looking at the bottom of your screen (I assume you have a Sony camera?) and it will say +2.0. If it’s not, then increase or decrease the f-stop until it’s +2.0. Hopefully that makes sense? If not, no worries. My next tutorial I’ll show how to properly expose for S-Log footage :)

    OK so a grading question that is bothering me. I am running with Cini4 lut settings on my camera to get the best colour (especially in low light - better than SLOG). Sometimes I just want 'life-like' looking footage. I guess what I am thinking about is colour correction through Basic Colour Correction LUT to bring the footage Rec709 calibration on loading the footage and THEN grading through Lumetri Creative LUT for style etc. What do you think?

    • @SidneyDiongzon
      @SidneyDiongzon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s one way of doing it. However, that’s what you’d do with a filter. LUTS are meant to bring color pixels from a footage to a different color space to emulate some film stock. Usually, I apply the LUT and see what it does to the footage. Then I color correct and grade.

    This was very helpful! Do you shoot your videos in slog as well?

      I'm so glad this was helpful!!! I don't always shoot s-log. It depends on what I'm filming.

    Nice video ! But why are you not use the input lut in "basic correction" on premiere pro to edit the slog3?

      Because I can control the intensity of the LUT if I use it in Creative.

    Hi there! So I filmed an indoor scene with the Sony a6400 in S-Log3. Then I added the clip to premiere pro and added your LUT (indoor) and my clip still looks awful. It looks pretty much like the S-Log3-footage, but a bit darker. What am I doing wrong?

    Okay I gotta say I wacthed many videos for grading/correcting colors in the last few days and honestly your video was one of the best. It was short and to the point. In the other videos they went way to much into detail with their own clips but because everyone has different clips and settings the stlye they had would never appear the same on your clip resulting in dissapointment. Your video was really good at showing how to grade your video to a "normal" color and now you can add your own stlye to it. I hope you can understand what I was talking about and kind regards.

    Why do you decrease the contrast then add a curve to add contrast into the footage again? Are there some difference between the contrast slider on the basic correction and making an S-curve?
