  • Makita XDT16z vs DeWalt DCF887b (BATTLE of IMPACT DRIVERS) Speed Vs Power. In this highlight video of last weeks #TTR #tooltestraw we show off some of the best moments during the battle of impact drivers where we put the Makita XDT16 18V LXT brushless impact driver up against the DeWalt 20V MAX XR DCF887 impact driver. Which impact driver is your favorite? Who will come out on top?

    You cant blame the tool if someone is more clumsy or faster with their hands..I seen a couple of mess ups and the tool took the loss for it.

    in order for this to be fair you guys need to swap tools after every test.that way error of operator can be excluded as the reason it May not have performed so well

    Makita might not be the most power or fastest, but it actually works. It doesn’t smoke. It doesn’t not retain bits. It’s super high quality. It’s compact. It’s the smart play. Probably why that’s what I run.

    • @tylervanhouden7657
      @tylervanhouden7657 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think certain errors (stripping screws, snapping hex connectors, and cam out) are important to leave in because they give the tests a more realistic feel. These things happen during real life work and depending on what brand you use, they will occur more or less often. Cam out is almost always caused by two things, a loose and incorrect fit to the screw head and over tourquing. If you looked in the beginning the dewalt has a pretty sizable increase in torque from the makita. The dewalt also cammed out more times then the makita. knowing they generally use the same bits I can safely assume that the bit is a controlled part in the experiment. but where immediate torque is required such as metal self tappers you'll notice the dewalt won. When it came to slow and steady the impacts per minute came into play and the makita took the win do to its greater Ipm rating. Imperfections are where most of the reality of a tool comes into play. I agree human error is in play, but these guys are giving out raw facts. They arent here to give a college grade science experiment. They're here to give us the reality of the situation.

      @milangeurkink9917 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tylervanhouden7657 I agree with a part of your story but the tests do not reflect to day to day use. When you are driving multiple screws verry fast after each other the is just a lot of user error. I have the dewalt (and no i'm not a fanboy) because at the time of buying is was just the highest value that i could get for the same money.

    On a side note, I’m trying to decide on an impact driver. It’s between a Gen5x brushless for $80 with a 2ah, and the Makita XDT13 deal for $99 with the 3ah. You guys have any suggestions?

However, I was looking to swith to Milwaukee or Makita. I prefer the Fuel combo, but am hesitant because of the collet issue. What do you guys suggest? On the 31 tests, all of the spaddle (7) were for Makita. 9 tests were at 3x, in 6 there was an operator error or problems with the tips. Test 19 & 21, the same problem in turn, but for DeWalt it was in the first lag. Test 23 & 24, DeWalt broke the Bit and got off to a bad start without completing the task. Makita's performance is interesting, clear winner despite the aforementioned. Great video, thanks.

    My power tools are Dewalt mostly, but also I have Milwaukee, Ryobi, etc. All of them are great and do the job! And maybe because I don't have to race with anyone at the jobsite, they work perfect for my needs. Honestly, I think that this kind of tests are useless and give the wrong idea of the tools. You guys should be testing power, durability, torque, speed, etc, but not like this! This way to do it is wrong and unprofessional! I like this channel, but it is more a reality show than a channel to analyze the tools without preferences.

    Hi Vince and Crew,
    Hey guys, i just want to get your thoughts on this issue on the DeWalt (DCF 887)over heating. I was looking around the youtube channels and came across two videos from Catus Maximums (sevice and lubricant) and Project Farm (Red tacky vs light weight Grease).
    Maybe the reason that dewalt 887 over heat is because the grease that they use is a light weight and not enough in the gear. Maybe if they use the Red tacky grease it might help this issue. I know you don't do open tool videos but maybe this might be one vidoe that can be done. Maybe even be proven in one of your videos.
    If you get a chance look at those two videos.
    Just a thought.
    Be Safe and thanks for all the videos.

    lol the Makita got smacked till you had it drilling holes. I'm legit curious cus I don't know, but do you really use an impact to drill instead of a proper drill? I assume if you only had one tool you'd take the impact, so that's fair, but the Makita did fail to win in what the impact is specifically meant for.

      That's my biggest beef with Milwaukee. They may be good, durable tools, I don't know. The presentation style on their annual promo is such a turn off. If you make quality products, why would you need to remake it every year, and have a millennial wearing skinny jeans and a headset mic try to sell it to me through some rigged demonstration? It reminds me of an Apple event where they've gotta convince 20 year olds to buy the new product each year. I try to avoid products with engineered expiration dates, whenever possible.

    These tests were ridicules and don't prove anything! There were a number of times that the DeWalt or Makita operators were responsible for loosing the race, not the tools. The only way to accurately test is by driving multiple fasteners during a set time period and seeing how many were driven, or driving a fixed number of fasteners and timing how long each tool took to complete all of the tasks, then comparing the results.
