I'm curious. Fox made it seem it would be Family Guy + in the season 1 trailer. Seth clearly said it wasn't meant to be that. I think it was meant to be like but not Star Trek. 40% + of the people is Star Trek people. So, I kinda expect more sci-fi drama with some comedy that's story and character driven. The opposite of what you expect. Heck. You watched Season 1 or parts of it. So, you are discussing it so I think the show succeeded in that aspect. If Star Trek Discovery desperately put a Orville like scene at the end of their trailer. Orville must be doing something right. So, Trek trys to create a non-Trek Trek show comedic line in a elevator scene. The irony.
I think with Seth being involved people will always have expectations of silly humour. From what I've heard The Orville is strongest with its more dramatic scenes. I really need to check the rest of S1 out. As for STD I don't think they're attempting to outright copy Orville, they're more likely looking at Marvel's style of blending humour and action. I don't expect STD to start throwing terms like "bitchin'" around the bridge. Well, they might! Anyways, thanks for watching!
