3:20 is gold. 😆 I'm sure they'll do a Degobah version and others. Excited for the astromechs...Another they need to retool are the IG units. Thanks OOTB!
I love the new Artoo, the minor differences in paint apps probably won't bother me one bit. However I do think it's a little disappointing the jetpack accessories are missing. Great video once again guys, thank you!
R2 is absolutely a banger. I’m with Nate, definitely will buy any and all astromechs on this body. R5, R4, whatever. Also love the Saw bit, was that Nate lol?
I never got any of the old Astromechs, so I'm excited about this one. R5 was always a favourite of mine. I still have a pre Disney Star Wars reference book on droids. It said previous Astromechs were bigger bulkier and less sophisticated. So anyone with the older mould Black Series could fudge it as a newer model.🤔 Now give us more protocol droids with updated mould/articulation. Oh and the Death Stsr droid.😀
Great video boys, the new R2 is indeed a banger and I’m glad to see Hasbro already kinda going ham with releases on the new mold! Very nice update with good implications to the lines health moving forward!
Be careful with the narrower accessories in the “neck” storage. 2 of mine fell out while inside risking damage to the accessory and the mechanism. I love my new one, but I’m keeping my old one for the rocket boosters with my Clone Wars figures.
Hey guys! Nice Vid as usual, SO entertaining and informative! I just bought this amd love it. Is the current R5 still under scaled, or has that been re-done as well? I see Chopper is still too small. Had to look up 'Banger', must be an American term, cos over here it means sausage.
Good stuff! Appreciate you watching. There's a new R5 in a Mando box that is on this new sculpt. Also, LOL. Sausage! "Banger" in the US is slang for something really cool, essentially. -Justin
Ha Ha, thanks Justin! I'm probably your oldest fan at 64, and never heard that term until watching your vids~! lol. Right, better grab the R5 then. cheers mate!@@OutOfTheBasement
Huh, I didn't even realize you could store the accessories inside it, that's awesome! I knew that the dome could raise like it does for the Naboo N1 starfighter but never noticed the clips inside for them
Fantastic job. Great figure. The only problem is now my old R2's stick out like a sore thumb. Even not on the same shelf. I have only purchased one of the new ones. He did not come with the silver nubbin on the back of his head. But I with get another. Maybe move the old scale into my work Van as a co-pilot. Great job guys.
When I knew I wasn’t focusing on TBS, I did feel like this Artoo was worth it… and it is! Having it next to Chopper, it’s great! My brother did have the OG release. And what a difference!
Can't wait to get my mitts on this figure. While I have the SH Figuarts R2 in my main display, I think I'm going to keep him there, and put the "clean" R2 in with my Prequel display.
Hello Nate and Justin thanks for sharing your thoughts on this new bannger R2-D2 figure. I'm still waiting for BBTS to get this figure in stock and put him in my loot pile. He's definitely the droid we've been looking for the last 10 years. R2 is finally at the correct size, he's got his periscope, sensor antenna, and 4 different Astromech arms with 6 points to place them in. His colors and paint appts look really good and his third leg can be pulled out without turning his head. Now this version is not perfect, first off he doesn't have Luke's lightsaber and a spot to put it. Since this is supposed to represent R2 from Jedi I think he should have it as well as his drink trey. Also his leg thrusters are missing from the prequels. R2-D2 can't fly around the Geonotion droid assembly lines without his thrusters. Those are my major likes and dislikes. I still want every Astromech droid to use this new body and I can't wait for R5-D4 and the new R4 as well. If Hasbro released both of the original R2 R5 three packs with this body, I'd be happy to repurchase them all. Thanks guys for putting this video together for us, I'm so looking forward to this new R2-D2 figure. I'll catch you later, Tom
New astromech body has been severely needed. Not getting R2 because I've already got the model kit version that I'm happy with but I am 100% getting that R5 that's releasing in a couple months and I'm pretty excited.
Try sliding both across a flat surface and let go of them. The old R2 will go quite a distance, especially if the third leg is out, same with Dagobah and R5, and the new one immediately falls on its face. The wheels do do something. Not that I need R2 to slide :D
I’m really enjoying mine as well! Although having a few of the Bandai model kits, I already had a good representation of r2 and probably was less excited about getting him than most others. Still, with all the options BS offers here at their price point, is a lot to be excited for, now where’s my R-7!
I’m not happy with the center wheel for chopper the way it can’t click in to the down / rolling 🛼 mobility mode, we basically can’t even store the wheel in the chassis cause u need 30 seconds to get it out if u pull it out to reset it or put the rocket that clicks in.
Great video. I’m looking forward to picking the new R2 up. I have both 40th anniversary R2’s from A New Hope & ESB. I also have the Mafex R2 that came with the bar attachment & the worst C-3PO ever. The only thing I dislike about the new R2 is doesn’t come with Luke’s light saber that he had in Return of the Jedi. This is the 40th Anniversary of ROTJ. WTF Hasbro. They must have never watched the movie before. Lol. Y’all have a great day.
They knocked it out of the park with the new R2! I think this shows that the team will do the same with the B2s!! Keep up the awesome content gentlemen!
Obviously your table is defective. Wheels aren’t gimmicks they’re value adds. I never minded the clicking. The size was always the issue. I think we are letting Hasbro pass off a “play” gimmick as a storage feature. Originally I think this was to be used with the N1 which Hasbro scrapped plans of for Black Series. It’s a feature seen in concept art. Someone decided when the telescoping head was a desired feature to sculpt the recesses could be made as such to hold the attachments. It remained a gimmick or feature. I wish they had retained the wheels and side rocket attachments. I think the terms gimmick and feature are synonyms. Gimmick gets a bad name in its association to generating sales. It’s a cool name that evokes the wonder of childhood and innovation in some ways. We had this debate in Marvel toys as the “play gimmick” was looked down on as it removed “articulation” which is a gimmick adult collectors desire more. Personally they are all toys, things we fiddle with our hands or admire on display in the cool poses where we imagine it in action.
The table is defective?!? What does this mean? Lol. If Happy Meal quality wheels that add nothing to the figure are "value adds" then accessory storage is certainly a value add. Especially when you consider it as an adult collectible. The rotatating head on the old R2 limits you, as we show in the video. To have the figure looking forward, you have to twist it back and it brings the third leg up slightly. So you can't have it all the way down. The wheels were so cheap and just seemed like a low quality toy like Matchbox toy cars for 99 cents or whatever. -Justin
This was an amazing update that should have NEVER have happened because it should have been like this from the beginning. Also, The Hateful Eight can't be your favorite. Please say you are tricking me. I'm too fragile to accept this as the truth.
The Hateful Eight is genuinely my favorite Tarantino film. Something about it, it's so quoatable. Love the story and dialogue. I think it's some of the most rich dialogue of any Tarantino film. -Justin
I will say the one at Disney world is 100%. Its made out of hard metal material and the head can turn and painting is legit. If you really want one that is close to the movie then get the one at Disney world.
Yeah, and it’s legs were as thin as the smaller versions. Horrible. Who? WHO? Looks at the finished product and says….”yeah, that looks great” Obviously NOT a Star Wars Fan, nor are they right for a job as a model maker. As far as the new one. Why? WHY? Can’t they make the dome…. 1 freakin piece???? That split drives me nuts. Other than the Hot Toys version. No one can make an exact version of R2.
3:20 is gold. 😆
I'm sure they'll do a Degobah version and others. Excited for the astromechs...Another they need to retool are the IG units. Thanks OOTB!
I'm down for the Dagobah version! Thanks for watching. -Justin
I love the new Artoo, the minor differences in paint apps probably won't bother me one bit. However I do think it's a little disappointing the jetpack accessories are missing.
Great video once again guys, thank you!
Yeah I did like those jetpack accessories! -Justin
R2 is absolutely a banger. I’m with Nate, definitely will buy any and all astromechs on this body. R5, R4, whatever.
Also love the Saw bit, was that Nate lol?
Lol yes that was Nate! Bro is a voice actor. -Justin
I never got any of the old Astromechs, so I'm excited about this one. R5 was always a favourite of mine.

That's interesting about the reference book! R5 is gonna be a good one as well. Thanks for watching! -Justin
Great video boys, the new R2 is indeed a banger and I’m glad to see Hasbro already kinda going ham with releases on the new mold! Very nice update with good implications to the lines health moving forward!
Totally agreed! The redoing of these classic orange/blue line characters is a great sign. R2, Luke, Vader to a degree. -Justin
Great vid, guys! I got the R5 in yesterday and it is amazing as well!!! Now I want all of the existing Astros rereleased on the new body!!
Very nice! I'd be down to get em' all on the new scuplt as well. I'm waiting for that R5 that comes with Pit Droids. -Justin
Be careful with the narrower accessories in the “neck” storage. 2 of mine fell out while inside risking damage to the accessory and the mechanism. I love my new one, but I’m keeping my old one for the rocket boosters with my Clone Wars figures.

I can't wait for this R2. I wish BBTS would hurry up and get him in. And yes, I too will buy each and every astromech on this new body!
Surprised they don't have him in yet! I found mine at GameStop. -Justin
Fantastic job. Great figure. The only problem is now my old R2's stick out like a sore thumb. Even not on the same shelf. I have only purchased one of the new ones. I'll probably get rid of my old R2, honestly. Thanks for watching, James! -Justin

Good call! Thanks for watching, Scolio. -Justin
Mine was just delivered yesterday and it looks so great on my shelf next to Anakin & Ahsoka!
That's awesome! -Justin
Got this a few weeks ago, glad you guys are onboard for it!
Good stuff! -Justin

Hey Tom! Thanks for checking out the new video. I do agree. Luke's lightsaber and the drink tray would've been awesome to get! See ya later. -Justin
Great vid, i discovered the new scale when i got the Mando R4, since ive gotten the R2 and R5. Cant wait to see what elese they do.
Thanks for watching! -Justin
Enjoyed the review guys as always, I really do need a R2-D2 figure cause C3-P0 (Archive) is always looking for him, "Artoo-Detoo where are you?"
C-3PO needs his buddy! -Justin
He has been posted out this morning and i think that will be my collecting done for the month!...great watch guys, Bleep Bloop, Wheeeeee!

I need all the repaints, ep II jet packs, jabba's sail barg Moble Bar, dagoba slimed, R3, R4, R5, handos R5...
Totally agreed! I'll take em' all! -Justin
This R2 was definitely long overdue, but im glad they finally delivered. A certified banger. Great vid!
Long overdue indeed! -Justin

I hope they pump out the astromechs! R5 is a good sign. -Justin
Nabbed this R2 with some Gamestop points, etc. Excellent figure! Great video!
Awesome! -Justin

I haven't messed around with Chopper in ages. I'd have to take a look! -Justin
Great video. I’m looking forward to picking the new R2 up. I have both 40th anniversary R2’s from A New Hope & ESB. I also have the Mafex R2 that came with the bar attachment & the worst C-3PO ever. Luke's lightsaber should've been included for sure! -Justin
Definitely a beauty of a figure. Got 2 of him so far. Can't wait for R5
Good stuff, Jrex! R5 should be nice. -Justin
Couldn’t agree more guys! Can’t wait for them to do R4 🙏🏻
R4? R4 do you copy? We need em! -Justin
Gangta R2 with the gun looks like Blue Harvest version
Haha true! -Justin
This new R2 is great. Love the new scale and the more vibrant color scheme as well as new accessories and features.
The scale is so much more satisfying now! Thanks for watching, Fig. -Justin
I'm definitely picking this one up I never got the old one cause it's to small.i hope they make a Shiney c3po.
Good stuff, Chuck! Thanks for watching. -Justin
They knocked it out of the park with the new R2! I think this shows that the team will do the same with the B2s!! Keep up the awesome content gentlemen!
Hoping they really do a nice job with the Super Battle Droid! -Justin
Unless you want to pay 200 bucks for original one from wave 1 orange line this one is fairly simple choice also looks great.
Well there are also imports cheaper than $200. -Justin
Great review! Justin, where did you get that Max Rebo shirt? I need!
Amazon! -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement Thanks!
As you say a much needed upgrade, but what you you think of it, against the Bandai model?
Both are great but I also love the accessory storage of the Black Series one. -Justin
He’s a great little figure. Improvement on the first one.
For sure! -Justin
I kinda like the old one had the twist out leg
Always thought that was a terrible feature. Thanks for watching! -Justin
THIS is my most fav figure!
It's so great! -Justin
The R2 we deserve!
So good! 👍🏻 -Justin
I do think Hasbro should remake some old mid figures such as this and remake them such as this Banger!
I 100% agree! Luke, Han, and Leia from ANH. -Justin
great video guys.
Thanks so much! -Justin
W video i'm probably going to get this figure
Good stuff! Thanks for the kind words. -Justin
Why the hell didn't they get the scale right from the beggining? It was obvious the original release was too small!
I couldn’t tell ya! -Justin
I want to get this but it costs more than the regular black series figures
It’s $24.99, same with all other mainline Black Series. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement Ah, sorry the listing for the UK on Amazon was an EU import so it’s priced up a bit. Pulse has it as 24.99 too but sold out
Really enjoying the new R2! I got another one so I can have one for a couple different displays! Great video guys
That's awesome! Thanks for watching. -Justin
Is this the exact same figure as the one in the mandalorian packaging or is the return of the Jedi one different in some way?
Yep it's the same one as the 40th ROTJ carded one. -Justin
I need the new r2 so bad lol
It's so good! -Justin
