I just want to say that although I have never lived in Katie Porter's district, I felt she deserved my financial support, and I have donated to her campaign! All of us who think that she is doing a great job should help her campaign if they can. Just a disclaimer: I've have never met her, I probably wouldn't recognize her if I saw her in the street, but I admire her ethics, energy and goals enough to dip into my pension to support her!

Katie porter ran in a district against no one. She won!! Her only advertising was a few small signs against killing unborn. She has a VAST wealth of knowledge when it comes to economics
well in 2018 She had to beat out a few other very qualified DEM candidates including Dave Min, who was also a UC Irvine professor like her (Dave had big ties to the growing Asian Communities in irvine). The next runner up was Brian Ford, a youthful man who spent time in the Peace Corps in South America and founded a company basically like Skype and gave it free to the people so that rural communities were able to communicate with the rest of the world. Ford was also a Tech Advisor to Obama. Katie Barely squeeked by in her win to make it to the general ballot. Of course in the primary the incumbent GOP rep won the most votes so Kaitie and Mimi Walters went on to the general ballot. Mimi became super unlikable due to her complete obedience to trump. Katie still had a ways to go to win. Because this is still a very conservative area. And it was very shocking when it came clear that she had actually won. in 2020, you are more correct. This district came to fall in love with her and so her 2020 GOP opponent in Greg Raths was pitiful. Katie easily won re-election.
@@aleklifechannel1212 sadly it really depends on the new redistricting maps. While Irvine, laguna Beach, Santa Ana and long Beach areas are pretty progressive now. The rest of South orange county and areas like Anaheim, orange, Tustin, etc.... are still quite republican. So if her district is redrawn to include more of those areas and less of the Irvine area. It'll be more competitive. Or she may choose to run in a district that is represented by other democrats and would have to really primary them i.e. Alan Lowenthal, Mike Levin, Lou Correa. IMHO, the or one solution to the boggest corps. paying no taxes is to have a new corp. tax on the revenue, not profits, revenue over some really large number. Maybe over $500 million. The rate could be about 5%. With this tax, there is no way to hide the taxable 'income' from the tax man. If they don't want to pay the corp. can leave the US. Then we tax the imports they want to sell in the US at the border.We tax what the make here too, if they are not a US corp.. It's just a thought.

Katie porter ran in a district against no one. She won!! Her only advertising was a few small signs against killing unborn. She has a VAST wealth of knowledge when it comes to economics
well in 2018 She had to beat out a few other very qualified DEM candidates including Dave Min, who was also a UC Irvine professor like her (Dave had big ties to the growing Asian Communities in irvine). The next runner up was Brian Ford, a youthful man who spent time in the Peace Corps in South America and founded a company basically like Skype and gave it free to the people so that rural communities were able to communicate with the rest of the world. Ford was also a Tech Advisor to Obama.
Katie Barely squeeked by in her win to make it to the general ballot. Of course in the primary the incumbent GOP rep won the most votes so Kaitie and Mimi Walters went on to the general ballot. Mimi became super unlikable due to her complete obedience to trump. Katie still had a ways to go to win. Because this is still a very conservative area. And it was very shocking when it came clear that she had actually won.
in 2020, you are more correct. This district came to fall in love with her and so her 2020 GOP opponent in Greg Raths was pitiful. Katie easily won re-election.

While Irvine, laguna Beach, Santa Ana and long Beach areas are pretty progressive now.
The rest of South orange county and areas like Anaheim, orange, Tustin, etc.... are still quite republican.
So if her district is redrawn to include more of those areas and less of the Irvine area. It'll be more competitive.
Or she may choose to run in a district that is represented by other democrats and would have to really primary them i.e. Alan Lowenthal, Mike Levin, Lou Correa.
Remember ca will lose a congressional seat. So its anyone's ball game until we know what the maps will be

IMHO, the or one solution to the boggest corps. paying no taxes is to have a new corp. tax on the revenue, not profits, revenue over some really large number. Maybe over $500 million. The rate could be about 5%. With this tax, there is no way to hide the taxable 'income' from the tax man. If they don't want to pay the corp. can leave the US. Then we tax the imports they want to sell in the US at the border.We tax what the make here too, if they are not a US corp.. It's just a thought.
