It is wrong, it was not BRM who developed this kite system, but me. I invented this kite with short lines and one-hand control bar in 2017 and also applied for a patent in 2017. Since August 2017, the company BORN-KITE has been producing and selling this kite system under the name "StreetStar". The 4th generation is now on the market. Here is a video about the StreetStar: th-cam.com/video/B2D_4DScNr0/w-d-xo.html In September, BORN-KITE will launch a new short-line kite (FoilStar) with one-hand control bar. This is specially designed for use on the water, but also works great on land for street kiting. Best regards, Steffen Born
Oh wow how interesting. Thanks for reaching out. Maybe you can DM me for a story on this. Also have a website at www.standupmagazin.com we could do an interview and so on.
Your streetstar was the first thing I though twhen I saw the BRM Parawing... 😁 Have you tried the streetstar for supfoiling? Are there many people using it for that purpose already?
Some kind of leash, stow bag combo would be nice. Under tention to your waist strap. If you let go of the handle it packs in there good enough te be out of your way. Anyway nice report, the random location cuts kept a smile on my face
There are several companies producing a small 'ParaWing'. It would be interesting in the near future to do a comparison. You could look at Bar vs Handles, Ease of Use. Up Wind Ability, Quality of Materials, Packability, Cost, etc.
I think an idea could be for it to deploy and pack away through a pull chord. Similar to a spinnaker sock on a Dinghy. that you wear the sock somehow like a backpack or harness
Looks fantastic, just the beginning and to expensive for the moment for what it is. At 500/600 i would take one for sure. I hope company like gong would go in the business.
I've been kiting for years. I was thinking of trying to start downwind sup foiling. Do you think these parawings would change the type of boards people would ride compared to boards for padding?
Thanks for watching and supporting the vid. Good question. I think for now probably not. Best would be a board with enough floatation for padding, light wind winging and learning the Parawing IMO.
It might be the future if you live in a place where the wind doesn’t suddenly/ surprisingly die or drop, for everywhere else I think the paddle is superior.
Thanks for watching... I am not sure... there were some prototypes in 2023 and I think people started calling them pocket wings... there is guy that also did market it, but it seems only now this thing really starting to catch on.
The portions of the video with you speaking are completely unwatchable for me. The constant jump cuts in the audio are incredibly jarring. Maybe others like this style but I’m not a fan.
@@StandUpMagazin no need to apologize, as I say it seems some people are good with this style as I see some positive comments here about it but for me it makes my brain want to shut down 😂
At some point they’ll want to ditch this method too. And there’s nothing more satisfying than activating yourself onto foil with man power via SUP paddle or hand paddle.
Konnte nur 20 Sekunden schauen. Das ständige rumspringen/schneiden ist einfach nur unmöglich. Hätte ich so ein Video im Studium produziert, wäre ich definitiv durchgefallen.
@@StandUpMagazin thanks for the reply and the video. It'll work in Maui, but where I am doesn't have the same conditions and the wind has holes as well as gusts. I'd also be pretty anxious about falling IN it.
@@kiterJ yeah for sure certain spots only. Falling into it… wow I never thought of that. I am not a kiter but now I totally see the concern. Do people get tangled often falling into their kite lines? Do people drown?
@@StandUpMagazin usually not so much with kites as there are usually only 4 lines, but the bridle is nearer the kite which is much further away from the rider. Whereas that has heavy bridling (like a foil kite), but right next to you. Imagine falling into it while droping into a wave, breaching the foil, getting rolled and you and the foil tangling in it. Quite unlikely 🧐 but definately possible. You'd have a hard time getting out of it
@@kiterJ very interesting thought. I hope to get an interview with the manufacturer where I can bring up all the interesting points that’s are being made here. 🤙🏽

Your lines are longer than those of BRM
This kind of kite was invented in 1980 by Wolf Beringer.
They were used for Crossing Greenland and the Antarctic.

The only solution missing is the "Robby Naish with umbrella" solution! I'd prefer that over fiddling with lines

Nice subject. The presentation format is a bit intense though. Less coffee, more weed. Thanks for the video nonetheless.
