Honestly, another good scenario for something like this would be in the TV series - when Rapunzle's real parents lock her in the castle, just like Gothel did. Re-living trauma she just escaped from would certainly do this to a person.
Rapunzel as a villain is honestly terrifying, it's the story, the blindness to the truth, the unwavering loyalty to her mother. She truly would make a compelling villain
I almost wish she was a villain, in a way. I'm so tired of media showing victims who are just super uwu sad little babies. A lot of victims of ab/use cope by emulating the ab/use because it's all they're familiar withand it's what they're comforted by. Whether the emulation is them personally performing the ab/use, or them searching out someone with similarly ab/usive tendencies. Honestly it almost feels romanticised.
Wither and decay, End this destiny, Break these earthly chains, And set this spirit free Take what has been hurt, Grant them no mercy, Bend and break the reigns, And set the spirit free, The spirit free...
I'm now imagining a reprise by a terrified Flynn to his verse of "I See the Light," where he laments his guilt for leaving Rapunzel behind (though he meant to return), and at the same time realizing how much he underestimated the affect of being locked up in a tower her entire life had on Rapunzel. All while running for his life from her through the town, as if she were a slasher movie villain.
And as the villain she becomes guess what she would do? not kill him, but lock him up so he could get a taste of what its like being isolated... for the rest of his life
“Break her heart?” “In half” “Crush her SOUL?” “Like a grape..” (Rapunzel probably not only feels all the hatred for Flynn. But also, all of the guilt of leaving..)
But at that point in the story Eugene didn't know how Gothel was actually treating Rapunzel. If he had known how abusive Gothel was he wouldn't have said that. Also his name is Eugene not Flynn.
@@cecilia8515 He had an idea, after all Rapunzel did tell him she had never gone outside, but still it is interesting to see because often people give unsolicited advice claiming it for well being and concern but because they fail to know the context of the situation, so it may or may not be an extra push for everything to go south (not like in the movie cause he obviously was being sarcastic... but how could Rapunzel know that? she took it literally after she had a crisis about willingly going back to the tower or not)
Very powerful song, and there's something tragic and ironic about how Rapunzel's turn to villainy has her singing about seeing the light when in reality she was blinded to the truth. Very powerful and quite the tearjerker, and the animatics certainly added to it. Bravo. ^_^
I'm not sure if this was the intent, but the idea of Repunzel experiencing a betrayal after Gothel's death and being left with nothing but the remembered facade of her manipulative mother in the context of a now cold and uncaring world is just *chef's kiss*
In this she states Gothel is alive but Gothel is manipulating Rapunzels rage since shes unaware Gothel had flynn arrested, Hence after a bit of time her heart turns just as cold as Gothels
@@the_real_tabby in the show (i'm not going to spoil names ir anything) she experienced betrayal and more often than not she becomes more and more like she was in the tower (although part of that is always there to begin with) and doesn't trust anything/passively takes it out on other people
@@the_real_tabby The tv series is REALLY good, there's parts I would've changed for sure to make it perfect as being honest some of it doesn't make entire sense but ultimately it shows a (well as much as a cartoon with magic in it) realistic aftermath of when she goes back to her parents. Trying not to spoil but it's pretty much impossible, so small spoiler: She struggles, her parents struggle, she's socially awkward/naive but that changes over time, is stuck with many difficult decisions, feels regret, people use/betray her, there's a dark side to the light (yin and yang) and the songs are pretty fun. It's funny and I would recommend to anyone who likes the Tangled movie.
I love this so much. I’d like to think if Flinn wasn’t rescued, Rapunzel would have eventually found out he was set up by Gothel and once she realized he was dead she would finish Gothel off herself. After going home she’d have a hard time being the daughter her parents expected, and she’d always resent them for killing Flinn even if they didn’t know. She’d still be magical and a prize to greedy royals and commoners alike so she’d be kept under lock and key all over again. Once they tried to set her up with a prince she would finally have enough and run away. Cassandra would try to hunt her down to prove she can be a guard. The suitor would hunt her for her power and to win her as a wife. All the constant running and fear and inability to trust anyone would cause Rapunzel to become dark and hardened. That’s when she would find the moon stone and be realized as the greatest villain in Disney history.
Or even the Moondrop Flower from the Twisted version. If she used the Moondrop Flower to change her hair from gold to silver, she would be terrifying. Using her hair to kill instead of heal
@@SnowHoof000 it's from the twisted version. It's a young adult book series that takes the classic disney films and gives them a dark twist. An example is " Staight on Till Morning." The premise is "What if...Peter Pan never came for Wendy and she went to Neverland with Captain Hook instead?"
Absolute banger. Would love to see a second part of her villain song, but based around her death incantation song from the show. She's got such potential to be a terrifying villain.
The desire to see an entire animatic of her _spiraling..., Flynn heartbroken, desperate to explain what truly happened but Rapunzel is too far gone. Her light has been extinguished._ Seeing Mother Gothel turn from "hmph, _finally_ you see things my way!" to "oh shit she's fucked up and now she's dangerous _what have i done--"_ as she watches on in horror as the girl she raised absolutely _obliterates_ the subject of her rage in the most brutal ways imaginable, and she realizes that if Rapunzel _ever_ finds out what she did, she would be next. Mother Gothel, despite her efforts to avoid it, gets crushed under the heels of the villain she created, far worse and more unhinged than she'd been. Maybe even working in some of the lore from the series, even though this takes place during the movie. aaaaaa i wish I could DRAW ;-; I'm working on it but I can't even afford colored pencils right now, let alone a tablet. But seriously this has awoken some inspiration in me, and I hella wanna write a fanfic now. Your art is expressive in just the right ways, the vocals are just **chefs kiss** and the lyrics are absolutely PERFECT for this! Well done!!!!
And that's only the beginning when you think about it... Cause she can literally bring them to a hair from death, heal them up and do it all over again~
To think this series started as just minor key covers of popular Disney Princess songs. Now there’s entire backstories and new verses and stuff added. This is great! Keep up the amazing work!
I like to call that the "Fazbear Effect", because the _Five Nights at Freddy's_ franchise was very much the same story. FNaF started out as just a simple horror game where you play as a night shift security guard at a kid's restaurant. And now it's a Gothic tragedy about a dysfunctional family, a sci-fi drama about sentient robots, and a ghost story about a series of Children possessing the majority of said robots after being murdered by a serial killer, all in one.

This feels like a song STRAIGHT out of the tv show. I could definitely see it having been in the show, had they had some sort of evil curse episode with THIS as the plot at some point.
The series writers wouldn't do that, especially her being the main character and they wouldn't want the audience to see her that way for the plot, but I wish they had maybe an alternate dimension or something where there was an evil Rapunzel...
That’s one of the reasons I wish the tv show was more like the movie, they are both PG but the movie seems more dark, I Mean Flynn got stabbed in the movie for crying out loud- yet the series wouldn’t let this happen cause no one can get hurt in the perfect world. Wish this could have happened though.
The idea of rapunzel being a villain is so incredibly fascinating. Her story in the film is a clear representation of emotional/psychological abuse by a parent. And so her being a villain could be used to just as aptly portray the cycle of abuse and how without a proper support system, children of abusive homes may very well end up repeating their abusers behaviors.
Imagine a scenario where Gothel, seeing what she had done to Rapunzel, starts regretting everything overtime. She watched Rapunzel watch up into a bright, beautiful and kind woman, and because of her, that happiness within her is completely gone. Gothel would realize how much she loved the bright child that she raised all those years, and now that's all lost, as she now lives in guilt
I'm just a sucker for stories where the villains realize what they did wrong and actually have some sort of attachment and have someone they love purely, and this can be done easily in Rapunzel
I feel your tone and the animatic really capture the horrible impact Gothel's abuse and manipulation have had on poor Rapunzel! I think you did a wonderful job with this one.
@@nathanseper8738 and it would make Quasimodo even more monstrous than even Frollo by killing everyone from gypsies, to peasants & even Frollo himself!
I’m a big kingdom hearts fan. Hearing these songs makes me wonder if Kingdom Hearts had Sora enter stories like this to help fix what was broken so everyone can get their proper happy end. Also It just sounds cool to me to see a Heartless version of characters like Rapunzel that may even retain their human forms and command legions of Heartless to enact their revenge.
That's actually a awesome idea. Having the hero's control the Heartless and you have to fix the story, just like what they wanted to do with Elsa in KH3.
ok, all jokes aside, I. LOVED. THIS. I personally think that your voice fits perfectly with Rapunzel, and the Villan song gave me CHILLS, keep up the good work :)
I actually like the idea of a darker twist to this. Is that Flynn actually wanted her, and wanted to come back, but was taken prisoner, and locked far away, and she only finds out after she has gone about being a villian for quite some time. His verse is the song he sings, dreaming to be with her again. Once hes free of these chains.
"Now I'm here, suddenly I see" "Standing here, it's all so clear" "I'm where I'm meant to be" It hits different when she sang "I see the light" in her tower, not with flynn on the boat. AND I'M LOVIN' EVERY BITS OF IT!!
Why does your voice match with Rapunzel so well? Other people are better at pointing out how great the minor arrangement is, so I'm just going gush over how even when you're just speaking, you somehow enhance the whole video.
Oh my God, her standing there at the end glaring at him with her frying pan. That was so powerful the image alone gave me chills! I really think you have some potential for a bigger scale project...
When you rewatch rapunzel you realize that she's getting mainpulated, gaslighted and taken advantage of. It's crazy what darkness is behind tehse films. Really love this cover :)
I really love the way this touches on how abuse survivors fall back into their abuser's tactics if they're unable to find a better coping mechanism or healthy relationship. To be clear I mean that thinking the abuser (Gothel) is right and life would have been so much easier if they'd continued in ignorance of how life could be outside the tower. The hurt that a heartbreak left on Rapunzel is worse than the hurt her "mother" did right now and honestly save her ignorance she had it pretty good in the tower so if she could go back? Doesn't seem so bad. This is of course a delulu coping mechanism for the grief, pls don't go back to those who hurt you.
Wow…what did Flynn do to incite such villainery?? I love this minor rendition of Rapunzel’s songs. The lyrics are so clever and mean something completely different when sang with the emotion you managed to convey!
@@donovan_salgado I mean, not really. A yandere is someone with such an obsessive love for someone that they would do basically anything to be with them. In this case it´s more about her loving him and that love morphing into hate after his ´betrayal´, and wanting revenge for the way he deceived her.
The angry and bitter “At last I see the lights” is so unbelievably good I’m just in awe of the key change💖 Also it would cool if your covers got added to Spotify!
The voice acting, the rawness and those lyrics "It's cold, and coarse, and cruel" !!! So insane, definitely my favourite of your villains series so far. I'm so excited for you to do another! Anything haunting, sad or angry is so up my alley 😍
The fact that she sings to Pascal, and not to her mother, makes me think that she killed her. Despite how much she says she trusts and only loves her mother, I like to think she lashed out in anger, and now she feels so much guilt that she views her mother’s abuse through a warped lens.
I like to think it happened when she found out that she has been kidnapped by Gothel except instead when she confronts mother Gothel, mother Gothel gets the knife, Rapunzel sees this and uses her hair to blind Gothel and get a mirror shad from the mirror that fell and broke, to stab and push her out the window in anger. Then she recollects her thoughts and realizes that even if she stole her as a baby she still loved her as a mother. Very dark😂 but that's the final blow for her that even her own mother she thought tried to kill her.
Words can't expressed how much I'm in love with your rendition here, covering 2 song in 1 and making it flow so well and smoothly with the plot and the transition, depicting 2 tone of emotions from every lines, every lyrics while as well having a wonderful and expressive storyboard that fit so well with the whole shift of the song. You and your team has created such a masterpiece with this one. I've never liked I See The Light from the beginning but your rendition make me starting to love it and I must admit, I've broke that replay button once again because I just can't stopped listening to it.
The thing is, Flynn is her first and only love. If he would have broken her heart, she would definitely have this kind of perspective, realizing her mother was right about everything, and now she lives in her tower until the day she dies, without ever exploring that all people aren’t like him. I mean, he is a conniving thief after all, so this could have easily went this direction. Rapunzel is a magnificent masterpiece on not only the hero side, but also the villain side. And that is how you know you made an amazing character.
That was so heart wrenching and empowering at the same time. Rapunzel as a villain is such an interesting concept. A love scorned indeed. And the voice acting and singing were magnificent. And it even sounded like Mandy Moore! This is one of the best things I've seen!! And heard!!!
Empowering how? Her power, though great, is still only directed towards the targets Mother Gothel tells her are there. She is more a puppet now than when she started
This is so good, the vocals are great and absolutely haunting. I can feel Rapunzels anger and heartbreak through the screen. Personal Replay Button - 1:36
It's freaking awesome how, with some different notes and vocals and changing some of the words, you transformed the intimidating but lovely song of mother Gothel and the blooming and sweet song about romance between Rapunzel and Flynn in a literal epic reveal of pure rage and scaling vendetta. Congratulations. My skin chilled like crazy when "see the light" started, lol.
-Imagine she finds out the truth too late after killing Eugene, and she feels more heartbroken than ever, realizing she too couldn't trust Gothel either-
This video is seriously perfect. Not only is the art so beautiful to look at but your voice is SO similar to Rapunzel’s and the lyrics are so perfect that It legit sounds like it could’ve been in the movie if things took a darker turn! Also your singing is literally so pretty I love it ^^
I really love how the sentence "at last I see the light" becomes more and more violent, such a powerful and dark reprise!! It is truly horrifying and heart-breaking to see Rapunzel turning out like this, Gothel might even regret the old Rapunzel. Not sure if you are taking suggestions, sorry in advance, but I was wondering if you've ever thought of doing songs for Villains either becoming good or reveal your version of *when* the Villains became evil in their life? Your stories for the princesses/heroines are so good, I'd love to see your take on other stories/a reverse version :D
Can we just appreciate the fact that @sacredhyacinth changed the colors from purple (sad) to red-pink (angry) in order to even more emphasize the feelings of Rapunzel and more ways to view her twisted perspective- so awesome!
OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD The way you combined the songs, the melodies and the VOICE ACTING. I was expecting a good song but this. . . THIS is something that exceeded and excelled my expectations!!!
I’ve heard the phrase “my jaw set” but for me, my heart set. Every word pulled me in, and I felt Rapunzel’s pain and sorrow and anger. I really felt it. My heart feels like a rock in my chest after watching this, maybe because of the intensity or maybe something else that you managed to show me. This one song mixed other songs of joy from the movie into something different, something that takes so much talent to make someone feel. And the animation! The frying pan always at her side felt like a threat to Flynn Rider, and the red that built into the background and her eyes made me feel the transformation from hero to villain. I don’t really comment much, but I felt like I had to this time. I even rewrote it because I felt that the last one wasn’t enough to show how much I loved this video. Then I edited it. You’re so talented, and I know that you will do great things one day!
0:43 I honestly thought she was going to sing the original lyric, possibly revealing that Flynn left her pregnant like the prince in the original fairytale. Awesome animatic and I’d love to see Esmeralda turned into a villain next!
The simple drawing animation, the minor keys of the songs we all know, and the AMAZING vocal performance... This is a masterpiece of an idea. I'm seriously obsessed with this voice.
That was amazing! I love your voice and the way you adapt the lyrics to fit the scenario perfectly. I think that Evermore sang by Belle would be interesting. As in, she hated the castle and knew she would be trapped there 'evermore.' Plus, due to being almost completely alone (she avoids the beast and the servants) everything in her mind would be twisted, bitter and probably insane. Yikes.
Key shifts are always fun, but I was not expecting the revamped "I See the Light" to sound so good! The mood was so completely inverted, really liked it.
Recently I found this song, and, god damn. The way she used Gothel's insults as a mantra, and the "Skip the drama, stay with mama" part felt so damn heartbreaking to a personal level. The jazzy "I see the light" reprise makes this even greater. I really love this masetrpiece
Shook! This is amazing!!! Not only does it allow the lead access to one of the most iconic songs in the movie but it also gives her so much more depth and illustrates real consequences as a direct result of Gothel's gaslighting her for so many years. Brilliant!
All of these feelings songs that you do. They tell a story. Tell a story of a broken person. A kind person. Pushed to their breaking point. Gods, this is beautiful.
This is probably gonna make me gasp, then collapse, then open my eyes and say "What the Heck do you do to make thus do good?!?!?", then close my eyes again and pretend to be dead.
This is honestly one of the most amazing villain songs ever the song alone really sets such a dark vibe yet sounds so great I love this so much I really hope this gains more recognition
This great as always Lydia. I love the overall storyline w mother Gothel setting up Flynn to betray rapunzel for her to stay in the tower but then to find out and feel betrayed and rage
You know, I can't figure out what would be sadder: the idea that's in the description where he didn't willingly betray her and she doesn't know that, or if he did actually betray her ala Hercules in Meg's villain song.
Yknow, With Rapunzel being evil i feel like Gothel will be like “i don’t care if you go outside anymore, you can handle yourself now- but don’t forget a knife for protection my Flower~” Oh btw, A cover of “all that ive done for you” a deleted song for gothel would be amazing as a follow up to Evil rapunzel if you ever get to her again
The reason why Gothel doesn’t want Rapunzel to go outside is because she doesn’t want Rapunzel’s hair to be cut, accidentally or otherwise. Rapunzel doesn’t realise that Gothel’s using her for her hair at this point, and knowing that Gothel’s using her for her hair would probably throw her back into the good side, so Gothel would likely still keep Rapunzel locked up.
@@xTwilightWolvesx I refuse to believe Rapunzel doesn’t somehow know she is gothel’s fountain of youth, She must have seen gothel as an old woman after gothel left for a week or so, after all Rapunzel was gone for 2 days and when she encounters gothel in the woods shes already of an advanced age
Your voice sets such the perfect color for this song. The powerful emotion is felt wishing only more cause you got me wanting to see how this story goes. Can't wait to see what else you have in store!
I really appreciate things like this because I love seeing alternatives to stories. This isn't more or less realistic from what was done in the movie, but I do like that we could another way Rapunzel could have handled the situation. She's 18, emotionally underdeveloped, and socially immature. It makes just as much sense for her to let one person (based off a planned misconception) ruin her perspective of all humans as it does for her to fall in love within 3 days (if that) and for her to easily forgive and forget the betrayal she thought she witnessed. Heck, it was crazy how she so easily forgot the trauma that comes along with being kidnapped and psychologically abused for 18 years. My point is Rapunzel could have just as easily had this same response. [I know of people in my own life who do stuff like this, monologue and all, so in a way, it's pretty realistic of someone who has been hurt and doesn't have the emotional intelligence to deal with it.]
The thing is all those years she spent with Gothel she didn't know what was happening to her was wrong, she had no reference and all she was told she believed as the truth, how could have she known and forgotten if it was all she ever knew, not only that but she ever knew was -right-? only one experience of the outside world with Flynn would not entirely shift her perspective in days, yes, but it could make her feel different in a good way for some time only for her then to "realize" Gothel was right and no one could be trusted... but that included Gothel herself.
@sirenamendes8604 Valid! I'm not saying she could have those struggles. I definitely agree that her entire perspective is skewed and her one experience with Flynn wouldn't be enough to completely see Gothel as "evil" because for most/if not all her life up until she began asking earnestly to leave, Gothel didn't present her with any reason to doubt the kind of person Gothel is, the kind of place she explained the world to be, the kind of creature she explained humans to be, etc. I think Rapunzel did all she could do with the information she knew during the movie, especially because it's a movie that should have a happy ending. Again, you make a great point that her experience with Flynn during her view days with him could have honestly acted as enough ammunition to cement her belief that what Gothel had been teaching her all throughout her was true, even if some details weren't true from her new experience (like the sharp teeth. There are people with sharp teeth, so Gothel didn't lie about that, but if she said it as an absolute, that all people had sharp teeth and Rapunzel saw different, I think Rapunzel could come to the reasoning at some point that, "Oh, I shouldn't consider 'all' or 'everything' when taking a literal meaning to her words." I do believe for the movie, Rapunzel did what she could do, and that Gothel had some good point she made, ones that were egged on and even strengthen by Rapunzel's experience with Flynn. I just think if it were outside the movie, like maybe in a sequel or maybe in a different writing of the movie, the perspective shown in this video could have very much come to pass. This "dark take" is very realistic, that her "fall" into a deeper love, understanding, and trust towards Gothel could very much have happened if her experience with Flynn had been shown differently, if the movie didn't have to have a happy end, and if Rapunzel didn't show some weird psychological break through. So, I am in agreement with you because in a way I think we are saying the same thing. And even if we aren't, I like your take. 😁👍
@@xaxacapric3022 I agree that if written not focused on the happy ending she could’ve easily reacted like in this video. Following the exact events of the movie I don’t see it happening entierly out of spite to Gothel, but because an abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal in first place. (if wanted it could absolutely be driven to a point of no return, after all it was Gothel who kidnapped and trapped Rapunzel and she can resent her for that after knowing the truth… that would then be the birth of a villain thirsty of vengance with no redemption arc). You’re right about how she did do all she could with the information she had at the moment, yes she could question the generalizations in Gothel’s speeches like the sharp teeth and bad men, hence she trusted Flynn but even without him she’d would’ve tried to find a way to prove Gothel wrong in something, even a small detail like those. It is always interesting to question how things could have changed in these scenarios and the consequences that can come along. I guess we are saying the same thing after all haha. I get what you said about how fast she “opened her eyes” in the movie, when in reality that kind of realization could’ve taken her something between weeks and years, and to learn to wash traces of Gothel’s twisted thoughts off of her… (therapy never included in disney movies or else they wouldn’t exist) but I also get for timing and story paces purposes screenwriters had to narrow it to a couple days and add chameleon that served as a voice of reason to make it happen under an hour and 30min 😂 On a side note this is exacly why I love fanfiction, sure another movie or serie could be made to have all this happen (and don’t get me wrong I’d love that), but why have only one or two spinoffs with alternate endings when you can have endless scenarios mixed again and again exploring any detail and what changing it can detone, almost like Dr strange and his 14,000,605 possible outcomes to win hahaha
god damn it the "Skip the drama, stay with momma, mother knows best" part ascended me, and the end soft "the light" at the very end- MY GOD, this was beautiful
Damn, this is amazing, and I can totally see this happening in some kind of dark timeline. Somehow, the irony of a song called I see the light being so easy to turn into a villain origin story is beautiful. Anyway, great job with the cover and the animatic.
This is such a cool idea; it's crazy that the lyrics can stay so similar but feel so different in meaning with a change in context. Have you tried turning a villain song into a hero song? I don't know how you would do it, but it might be neat to try and hear. 😊
Honestly I was expecting a twist near the end with that build up, just imagine what would go threw her when she stumbled upon Flynn’s hanging corpse thus giving more reasons for rapunzel’s fall to villainy. Great work on the animation!
1:37 This right here is where I feel my heart speed up a bit, hearing a voice that is filled with pain yet captivating. I think I just found someone who I will be listening to forever!
This song was genuinely unnerving. The scariest part is that this could of easily happened if Rapunzel was that more upset at Flynn (even though it wasn't truly his fault). Overall great job on it.
Everyone: *amazed by the drawings* Me: *applauding the fact that it sounds like she's literally belting so high in her cheat voice, yet she isn't squeaking or changing quality* Hope your voice is okay!
Wow wow wow 😮this was so hauntingly beautiful! I am in love with how seamless the minor key and the two songs flow! And your voice even on the speaking parts, really captures her feeling of betrayal and her journey to the villain arc! WELL DONE 🎉
TH-camrs take the Disney princesses and turn them into villains by changing a minor key, opening up the imaginative possibilities of alternate stories that result in tragic villains while also giving us decent songs to sing along to. Disney decided to just release the exact same movies in live action, take away any dimension from the stories, remove any personality or flaws from the main female characters making them completely forgettable, and then name call their fans sexist when they say "Do better". Anything that's taken out of the story was crucial and anything that is added is boring or cliched. Everything's topsy turvy an upside down
They really need to make a Rapunzel live action like they’ve already got Cinderella, the lion king, Cinderella, beauty and the beast, little mermaid, technically Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. If they don’t make Rapunzel next I’m gonna be so frickin mad.
🤩I’m thrilled you did one of my top 3 favorite princesses! The song medley is ON POINT and the vocals are fantastic too! The animation was also fitting! Great video!
I love all of your twisted takes on these princesses tales, and I would love to read or watch the entire story play out as the anti version of the original.
First off you have Mandy’s mannerisms down perfectly! Second not sure if this is just me but the transition into I see the light gives me major Sweeney Todd vibes and I’m living for it!

Honestly, another good scenario for something like this would be in the TV series - when Rapunzle's real parents lock her in the castle, just like Gothel did. Re-living trauma she just escaped from would certainly do this to a person.
I can ABSOLUTELY see this happen. And it'd be ironic, cause they'd do it to protect her in fear of her being taken away again.

Yoo hi Sacredhyacinth :D this is so awesome, both of you did such a great job
I RECOGNIZED YOUR ARTSTYLE IMMEDIATELY!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I RECOGNIZED YOUR ART
oh my god is that sacredhyacinth
Rapunzel using Gothel's insults as a self-loathing mantra hits hard. Also, damn, I love how you combine two songs for this reprise.
The perfect portrayal of someone who has internalized their abuse.
It hurts. I feel it on a personal level
One of the most painful things about that is rapunzel is such a beautiful woman inside and out and GoThAl completely tried to blind her from that
I was abused as a child and sometimes I repeat the mantras that my stepfather used to use on me until my boyfriend snaps me out of it.
That would be great fanfic.
Someone has to make now
I need to see this now!!!
I need this reprise!
And as the villain she becomes guess what she would do? not kill him, but lock him up so he could get a taste of what its like being isolated... for the rest of his life
“Break her heart?”
“In half”
“Crush her SOUL?”
“Like a grape..”
(Rapunzel probably not only feels all the hatred for Flynn. But also, all of the guilt of leaving..)
2.8K likes and no replies? Lemme fix that-
But at that point in the story Eugene didn't know how Gothel was actually treating Rapunzel.
Bravo. ^_^
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Ngl coming up with the story and the creative idea was sad, she’s a very tragic villain
That's a bone-chilling observation.
@@LydiatheBard well, as they say, *Mother knows best.*
and this time, she will never ignore her words, again.
amazing job btw
I READ ANIMATIC AS ANIMATRONICS-
It doesn’t even sound like villainy. It sounds like desperation and coping with pain in anger. It feels more like an “injured damsel” in my head.
I'm not sure if this was the intent, but the idea of Repunzel experiencing a betrayal after Gothel's death and being left with nothing but the remembered facade of her manipulative mother in the context of a now cold and uncaring world is just *chef's kiss*
pretty much just the tv series tbh
@@rita8274 FR SAME, I got spoilered on the s2 ending tho but it was still pretty good😭
I love this so much.
Wow
@@cooperminion825 silver? Where is the moondrop?

I like to call that the "Fazbear Effect", because the _Five Nights at Freddy's_ franchise was very much the same story. This feels like a song STRAIGHT out of the tv show. I could definitely see it having been in the show, had they had some sort of evil curse episode with THIS as the plot at some point.
Ong
kir
oof maybe in the amnesia episode
True, you couldn't have said it better
Imagine a scenario where Gothel, seeing what she had done to Rapunzel, starts regretting everything overtime. She watched Rapunzel watch up into a bright, beautiful and kind woman, and because of her, that happiness within her is completely gone. Gothel would realize how much she loved the bright child that she raised all those years, and now that's all lost, as she now lives in guilt
I'm just a sucker for stories where the villains realize what they did wrong and actually have some sort of attachment and have someone they love purely, and this can be done easily in Rapunzel
@@Frovael lol I’d imagine a scenario where rapunzel cuts her own hair Infront of gothel so she isn’t seen as treasure anymore
I doubt gothel would feel guilt unless rapunzel proved to be dangerous to her and attacked her
A version where Rapunzel finally realizes that Gothel is the enemy "too" would be horrifying bit highly satisfying to this AU.
@@GranZaddy I've been imagining that scenario for four years
I feel your tone and the animatic really capture the horrible impact Gothel's abuse and manipulation have had on poor Rapunzel! I think you did a wonderful job with this one.
Yeah....but can you imagine how a villain song for Quasimodo on how Frollo manipulated him all his life??
@@joshualowe959 Ouch. I imagine him internalizing Frollo's toxic worldview and believing Esmeralda is a wicked witch! That would not be pretty!
Ah a game where all the happy endings magically get taken away and we have to go set everything right! Incredible.
That's actually a awesome idea. Having the hero's control the Heartless and you have to fix the story, just like what they wanted to do with Elsa in KH3.

"Now I'm here, suddenly I see"
"Standing here, it's all so clear"
"I'm where I'm meant to be"
It hits different when she sang "I see the light" in her tower, not with flynn on the boat.

According to the community post Rupanzel basically didn't find out that Flynn was set up by Gothel and he didn't actually abandon her with the crown
So basically a yandere
@@donovan_salgado maybe not a yandere per say but...
@@donovan_salgado I mean, not really. A yandere is someone with such an obsessive love for someone that they would do basically anything to be with them. @@emilyz.3419 ah I have met a master of the weebabo. I have been humbled this day
The angry and bitter “At last I see the lights” is so unbelievably good I’m just in awe of the key change💖 Also it would cool if your covers got added to Spotify!
Even your speaking voice sounded just like Mandy Moore...I think you're a little bit magic...
Omg thank you that is the highest praise

The thing is, Flynn is her first and only love. If he would have broken her heart, she would definitely have this kind of perspective, realizing her mother was right about everything, and now she lives in her tower until the day she dies, without ever exploring that all people aren’t like him. I mean, he is a conniving thief after all, so this could have easily went this direction. Rapunzel is a magnificent masterpiece on not only the hero side, but also the villain side. And that is how you know you made an amazing character.
she’s not the villian, she’s the hero of her own world
Exactly!

Congratulations. My skin chilled like crazy when "see the light" started, lol.
-Imagine she finds out the truth too late after killing Eugene, and she feels more heartbroken than ever, realizing she too couldn't trust Gothel either-

@@LydiatheBard of course dude! Just stating facts. The animatic is SUCH a good idea. Definitely worth the wait and keeping it a surprise.
The animation, the vocals, everything is so beautiful!! I love this trope!!!
0:43 I honestly thought she was going to sing the original lyric, possibly revealing that Flynn left her pregnant like the prince in the original fairytale. Awesome animatic and I’d love to see Esmeralda turned into a villain next!

@@javiinkling695 Yes that would make for an interesting and sad story.
This gives a whole new meaning to that song and turns the entire movie on it's head. I absolutely love this!

But really, I just love this line so much
Recently I found this song, and, god damn. The way she used Gothel's insults as a mantra, and the "Skip the drama, stay with mama" part felt so damn heartbreaking to a personal level. The jazzy "I see the light" reprise makes this even greater. I really love this masetrpiece
"Upgrades, people, upgrades!"
This is fantastic! Your voice is amazing as always, and the animatic is wonderful! Great job on all fronts!
This is amazing! I love how the song goes from sad and regretful to angry and vengeful.
Shook! This is amazing!!! Not only does it allow the lead access to one of the most iconic songs in the movie but it also gives her so much more depth and illustrates real consequences as a direct result of Gothel's gaslighting her for so many years. Brilliant!
Wow, this is quite dark, but amazingly performed. Absolutely stellar job on both the singing and the animatic!
All of these feelings songs that you do. They tell a story. Tell a story of a broken person. A kind person. Pushed to their breaking point.

This is probably gonna make me gasp, then collapse, then open my eyes and say "What the Heck do you do to make thus do good?!?!?", then close my eyes again and pretend to be dead.
This is honestly one of the most amazing villain songs ever
the song alone really sets such a dark vibe yet sounds so great
I love this so much I really hope this gains more recognition
This is absolutely gorgeous! The lyrics, the vocals, the animation, everything about this is amazing.
This was awesome!!
Yknow, With Rapunzel being evil i feel like Gothel will be like “i don’t care if you go outside anymore, you can handle yourself now- but don’t forget a knife for protection my Flower~”
Oh btw, A cover of “all that ive done for you” a deleted song for gothel would be amazing as a follow up to Evil rapunzel if you ever get to her again
“Hooray! You have finally grown to understand how awful the world is! We can go on outings together now!”
@@mirandagropen9761 Their idea of outings is most likely hating on men and going to pick parsnips for soup lol
@@xTwilightWolvesx
I refuse to believe Rapunzel doesn’t somehow know she is gothel’s fountain of youth, She must have seen gothel as an old woman after gothel left for a week or so, after all Rapunzel was gone for 2 days and when she encounters gothel in the woods shes already of an advanced age
I get what you said about how fast she “opened her eyes” in the movie, when in reality that kind of realization could’ve taken her something between weeks and years, and to learn to wash traces of Gothel’s twisted thoughts off of her… (therapy never included in disney movies or else they wouldn’t exist) but I also get for timing and story paces purposes screenwriters had to narrow it to a couple days and add chameleon that served as a voice of reason to make it happen under an hour and 30min 😂
On a side note this is exacly why I love fanfiction, sure another movie or serie could be made to have all this happen (and don’t get me wrong I’d love that), but why have only one or two spinoffs with alternate endings when you can have endless scenarios mixed again and again exploring any detail and what changing it can detone, almost like Dr strange and his 14,000,605 possible outcomes to win hahaha
oml- the "skip the drama, stay with momma." OH MY FREAKIN GOD I GOT CHILLS
I-
No words
No thoughts
Just trembling from the sheer talent
god damn it the "Skip the drama, stay with momma, mother knows best" part ascended me, and the end soft "the light" at the very end- MY GOD, this was beautiful
Damn, this is amazing, and I can totally see this happening in some kind of dark timeline. Somehow, the irony of a song called I see the light being so easy to turn into a villain origin story is beautiful.
Anyway, great job with the cover and the animatic.
This brought me to tears. When you’re a survivor of parental abuse you really do believe the world is cruel. Trying to trust again is hard.
I love how you made 'at last I see the light' into a jazz piece. Just fantastic!
This is such a cool idea; it's crazy that the lyrics can stay so similar but feel so different in meaning with a change in context. Have you tried turning a villain song into a hero song? I don't know how you would do it, but it might be neat to try and hear. 😊
As someone who was a huge fan of the original as a kid and has a lot of nostalgia for the songs, YOU DID THIS SO WELL! I got shivers
Minor key songs have the entire heart inside, the angst, the rage. Amazing.
Honestly I was expecting a twist near the end with that build up, just imagine what would go threw her when she stumbled upon Flynn’s hanging corpse thus giving more reasons for rapunzel’s fall to villainy. Great work on the animation!

This right here is where I feel my heart speed up a bit, hearing a voice that is filled with pain yet captivating. I think I just found someone who I will be listening to forever!
the creativity in this!!!! the story, the vocals, the animatic!!! I'm in awe💚💚💚
This is beautiful omg 😭
Rapunzel becoming a villain is such an awesome concept
*also I hate Mother Gothel even more now*
I thought that the lats lyric was gonna be "and at last I see your lies" missed opportunity if you ask me but otherwise perfection
This song was genuinely unnerving. The scariest part is that this could of easily happened if Rapunzel was that more upset at Flynn (even though it wasn't truly his fault). Overall great job on it.
Everyone: *amazed by the drawings*
Me: *applauding the fact that it sounds like she's literally belting so high in her cheat voice, yet she isn't squeaking or changing quality*
Hope your voice is okay!
I mean, the original fairy tales were anything but sweet and nice
Such an interesting take on her character, I love this version of her story! Your voice is immaculate in this 🙌🏻❤
I get chills from the description! These are such awesome ideas, and the voices are beautiful!
Dude this is amazing seeing this now, Tangled used to be my favourite Disney movie as a little kid.
Oh. My. God
This is the Dark version of Tangled I didn’t know i needed- Thank you Lydia, Queen of Villains
Yet another amazing song!! Hearing the twist of "I See the Light" with the animation was just so cool! Outstanding!
I love how the lyrics to I See the light barely changed but it had a completely different meaning. Beautiful.
Naaaaaahhhhh GIRL YOU ATE THE VOCALS?! SO RAW YET SO REFINED YOU’RE INCREDIBLE HOLY CRAP?!
🤩I’m thrilled you did one of my top 3 favorite princesses! The song medley is ON POINT and the vocals are fantastic too! The animation was also fitting! Great video!
I love all of your twisted takes on these princesses tales, and I would love to read or watch the entire story play out as the anti version of the original.
...and so the princess Rapunzel from Black Souls appeared.
Very touching, especially the beginning. Thank you for your hard work!
Note: Rapunzel starts singing Mother Knows Best at 0:19 and I See The Light at 1:36, in case you want to skip straight to one of those!
I like how in this villain story, Flynn didn’t actually do anything different,he was just caught. Even in an alternate dark reality Eugene would never
First off you have Mandy’s mannerisms down perfectly! Second not sure if this is just me but the transition into I see the light gives me major Sweeney Todd vibes and I’m living for it!
