That will more than “do the trick” lol. Dino used 52/54 for Standard A, and he actually recorded their first 2 albums with downtuned 6s using 12-52.

i'm only hitting the low A string it's just the D is being vibrated by my finger hitting the A, but it makes no sound as it's also muted by it

A-D-G-C-F-A-D (low-to-high)
Never could understand the pinky power chords unless you have small hands
I just find it more comfortable, I do play power chords with my ring finger too.
I know this old, but I play the same way but cuz I have tiny trex hands.
