In todays video we check out my recently purchased Schecter Blackjack, which is from something in the 2000's. Check out my bands latest EP: vileretributio...
Old school cool haha :D .. but the guitar at least as aged pretty well I think - Engl Powerball is maybe not all the rage these days as I think people later agreed that it didn't actually sound that good in a band setting. Haven't tried the mk II Powerball though - any idea if it is better?
@@rasmuslaurberghansen8484 I'm not sure if I had a mk 11 or the original Powerball tbh. I ended up selling it and buying a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 36. Got tired of carrying the Powerball around in a flight case with a 4x12 cab. Plus my tastes changed and was playing single coils so didn't need the gain. Kinda miss it now haha
I got the same guitar and it’s one of my favorites I have. I just put some locking tuners on it. I got a 59 in the neck and a Full shred in the bridge.
@@rasmuslaurberghansen8484 The full shred is fantastic. Not as hot as an Invader but a lot more power than the classic JB. No I didn’t have any issues with the original Grover tuners they just got a little worn out from lots of use. The locking tuners look great and they to help with tuning stability but the Grover tuners were awesome!
Maybe I should try the full shred. Havent really thought about it since people dont Seem to be hyping it that much. Would you say it is mid heavy or scooped like the JB? Got it, makes sense with the tuners.
@@rasmuslaurberghansen8484 to me it’s not as scooped as a JB the mids are there but still focused. I would say it’s like if you boosted a JB with a tube screamer or overdrive and boosted the mids just a little bit. It’s a great pickup for heavy rhythms cause the “chug” is there but there is also nice clarity.
i just bought this guitar today from a used guitar store. awesome guitar and it was going for sgd$460, which is about usd$340. it's pretty much a great deal for an awesome guitar.
Looks great, I remember wanting one of these in the early 2000's. I'd totally grab one if I come across one for cheap :-) Thanks for the video demo! Really want to see how the BlackWinter sounds in comparison to the JB.
I've had one of these since 2006, still gets regualr play. Superb instrument!
and I used to play it though an ENGL powerball haha

Single coils and Powerball might be a bit of a mismatch yes :D
nice guitar and nice tone. and nice to see you!

Did you have tuning problems with the stock tuners? I havent had any issue yet in that regard. How is the full shred?

Looking at the new C-1 Blackjack for a black metal project, seems to be spot on for the sound.
