I adore how it looks like he's struggling with his own anatomy not in the sense that he's not used to his own weight or proportions, but that the model isn't applied to an actual humanoid rig. Like, the vibe it gives off is that he hastily made it himself in order to give himself some visual context beyond just spritework, but didn't quite understand how the program worked and now the rig is attached to some invisible presence trying to vaguely hold all the pieces in shape with varying degrees of care.
this is merely supported by the fact that his arms and hands, and even head don't seem to be connected to his body, flying off here and there like the only thing holding it together are flexible tethers.
I absolutely love how lifelike yet soulless rewrite is in these animations- some of them look like he’s animated, and some of them look purely soulless- literally amazing for his character, the uncanniness is perfection.

I love how well this guy still reads as "Sonic" when you look at him, but there's that feeling deep in your gut like, "Nah that ain't my boy." It's not even just the lanky arms or the pupils alone, it's just how close to what an actual sonic render from the 90s would look like, but he's juuuust not quite right somehow.
It’s not just his horn-shaped ears, but his back spines also flare out sometimes to give the appearance of little demon wings. His head also moves oddly, since it’s not truly attached to his body.
could be how unusually tall and wide open his eyes are, the flatness of the snout, the strangely long glove/sock cuffs, and the ears pointing up just enough to make it feel off.

When the final jumpscare happens, the realistic eyes are always moving. It’s such a neat detail that I never knew I needed!

Can't explain to you how much I love this. One, the animations here fit Rewrite so well it's like scratching an itch in my brain. The 'what tf happened' bit at 00:49 made me laugh out loud (right before the jumpscare, ty). Two, I'm taking a 3D modelling/animation course this year and honestly this has inspired me to practice more. I hope to one day achieve the catharsis that watching you develop Rewrite has brought me.
The thing that scares me the most with Rewrite is that he utilizes one of the more uncommon fears - things moving when they shouldn't. If you were to see a scary image, you would "huh. well that's creepy" and then move the hell on with your day. You know this is a static image, you know it can't hurt you. *But when the scary thing suddenly turns around and looks at you?* And I'm not talking about that clunky, blink and you'll miss it, 180 degree turn. I'm talking about when it slowly smoothly transitions from one pose to another, until it eventually faces you, and even then still moves like an idle animation. It makes the threat feel alive, and by extension, *more real.* This is used especially well in the fnf mod, where every character animation consists of a set of pre-drawn sprites. So you assume that, even though it looks 3d, these are all pre rendered images, right? Because you know the spritesheet limitations, the moment Rewrite suddenly starts walking towards you hits even harder. It's not a spooky jpg flying at you, at least not obviously. Imagine how much scarier any analogue horror would be, if the scary realistic face you're so used to suddenly changed expression and, I don't know, reached through the screen? Yeah. That's what makes Rewrite terrifying for me.
This guy has an unnervingly lively puppet feel to him, he seems to move like he’s got strings suspending him in the air while also having a strange amount of charm in his movement
God i wish i knew how to animate like you this looks amazing. Tbh the first one looks like Rewrite is adapting to actually moving by himself. Also that ending. I think that, for the first time, an unerving image mixed with the silence before being cut to the screams have scared me. Rewrite's eyes just... God that's scary as shit. (I hope that one day a tutorial on how to do animations like these gets made, Rewrite's movements are both uncanny and cartoonish and that's the type of animation that i'd like to do the most.)
I like how his back fins look like wings when he flies, as well as how his limbs seem to detach when he makes movements that weren't intended for the model he's using.
With all these animations in mind, Rewrite definitely deserves his own video game. There's a lot that he can work with due to his uncanny nature and the 3D space.
Okay, this one legitimately terrified me. Not to say that I'm brave with creepypastas exactly, but normally I get scared in a jumpy way - the kind of fear where I'm REALLY uncomfortable and don't want to keep watching because I know the jumpscare is coming. This one didn't use a jumpscare though; the way Rewrite just got quiet, then right up into "my" face, looking me over with those awful, shifty eyes... I legit can't remember the last time i had this deer-in-headlights feeling. Fantastic job!
WOW IT FEELS SO...STRANGE SEEING REWRITE ACTUALLY MOVE Dear lord this pains me and his poor ol' Pentagon...I always imagined that he made that thing as like. A small bit of support for himself. Poor fren. Good work, Springless! He looks lovely can he stop staring at me tho with them big ol' eyes
I think the reason why is because the silly little goober is interpreted as an old animation in this video, in old 3d animation, Sometimes all of the limbs wouldn’t connect and you would have to move them all separately and you couldn’t really fully check if they were all flush and fitting on each other and connected in general, so I feel like he did that so that it could feel a bit more… You know, nostalgic, and real or something.
I love it! You're really good at distorting friendly design features into something unsettling while keeping it looking like Sonic! Like, with no over the top scary adaptations like rows of teeth
I like how everyone is just excepting the fact that rewrite is a silly goofy goober, even the creator of him made him do a silly dance in a short, he is canonically a goofy goofball.
I love how off kilter this is, with the dislodging limbs/broken rigs, the ear spinning, awkward movements, etc. yet it’s clearly made by someone who knows what they’re doing, and knows it well. A+ from me bro ✌🏼 That ending tho
I love how this animation looks! The animations themselves strike the perfect balance between goofy and uncanny, and I love it a lot. It's like they're simultaneously too smooth and too stiff. I also love how well the music reflects this feeling of something being wrong in something that's otherwise pretty wacky and fun, but not being able to put your finger on it until the act is dropped. Also, the eyes. The freaking eyes. I love how they turn and shift to look at you like that towards the end; it's such a good effect that I'm surprised analog horror videos don't pull more often.
The fact that the red rings are on all of the (relatively) spooky animations, but none of the others. Also noticed that his spines/spikes are pointed differently too.. Amazing
honestly the animations here are so cool the balance of both "sonic" (rewrite) here being animated by a person and then moving as if HES moving himself is really so god damn cool, PLUS i like how the green hill zone area with the grey fog makes it look like "IMSCARED" which fits rewrite's horror elements i wouldn't be surprised if someone actually DID make a horror game centered around you running away from rewrite in green hill covered in grey fog and him just staring at you from afar before disappearing and eventually catching you it'd be a really fun game to run around in!
Rewrite is such a unique Sonic.EXE take. Not only is he self-aware, but he can shapeshift and break the fourth wall. He's like a god that has a whimsical taste for blood.
i've been watching this over, and over again for weeks, unable to truly convey my feelings towards it until now this is the modern pinnacle of doppelganger horror. so many layers are baked into this that despite how deep i've looked, i still haven't managed to make sense of it. a mod of a game based off a creepypasta based off another game turned into another mod in a completely different game, and now it's rendered here in terrifying retro. someone watching this who only knows sonic, rather than any of the derivatives it took to get here, is getting a real version of the experience spoken of in creepypastas. the very best part of it, too - just after you've brought the haunted media home, and it shows you it's unnatural, but before things get abrasive.
I haven’t seen too much from rewrite, I think his name is? But from the brief glimpses I’ve seen, this included, I adore him. He feels so off putting, having the idea of sonic, but not fully executing it right. Moving his leg back and forth rather than tapping his foot, his ears move 180 occasionally, the wide eyes… so creepy. Expertly animated and designed!
Rewrite is hands down the best highest effort sonic exe version out there and that is saying a lot considering everyone is making generic lame low effort versions of sonic exe as they take for granted exe’s popularity and capitalize on it without putting any work to it, Rewrite’s artist and developers deserve all the love tbh finally a fresh and incredibly detailed take on a sonic exe mod
@@funkysunky7840 I looked up and actually I have seen him before but I honestly forgot his name and just assumed he was just another sonic.exe, good to know he has an actual name, Lord X is fitting for such a character
honestly i love everything about this looks like one of those leaked game character test things and the stiff movement that rewrite has fits him well keep up the grind 💪
Rewrite is one of my favorites. It’s amazing to see them in action like this. They’ll always be the best little goofy. Pretty spooky, too! And I love how you play into the simplicity of it, too…making it seem like a test for a low polygonal game.
0:18 love how the leg seems loose, as if he has a limp. It also explains why he could have trouble walking seems like hes having slight trouble standing as well.
I applaud the animation work. The model work is very nice. Love lowpoly stuff in this modern day and age! Just insanely creeped out by the uncanny expression and the movements. I don't know if it was your intent to spook someone, but you got me. Fantastic work. 10/10 /Edit: Got toward the end of the video. Definitely spooked way harder./
I would have never come across this amazing creation and the mod without this. I'm not big into FnF and don't actually know how I got recommended this, but I'm glad I found it xD
Since I grew up watching stuff that kids in the 90's and 80's would watch when they were kids I tend to actually like stuff like the beginning. He's super cute to me and has these oddly silly movements, I find him adorable and I think I would have loved this version as a child. (Without the actually creepy bits, lol)
I am one of those people who is no longer afraid of any distorted faces or jumscares. I myself am the creator of one of the horror that someone are afraid of. However... it's the face at the end. For the first time in many years, it really scared me. I finally got scared with no reason. This indescribable feeling of fear has finally returned, you managed to do what no one else could do, you are really great. This character is absolute horror and real fear, I have never seen this before. Of course I was scared by the design at 1:04, but the only time I really got that feeling was when IT looked at me at 1:19...and then came close-up. Unsurpassed. Incredible. Edit: okay, now this is not so scary at all, but still impressive. It was 6:40am and I just wake up when typing this comment, that's why I was so scared
At the sight of that unnatural face at the end, I felt exactly the kind of fear I hadn't felt in a very long time. I don't understand why other people don't get scared when they see this, but I was pleasantly surprised. These are not natural eyes that seem to be looking in a different direction, but are actually looking straight at you... This design, with all its might, shows that this is not the Sonic he claims to be... Everything here is terribly creepy, and it's really commendable
@@misterboxhead3045 same for me I saw many scary things and disturbing things that I don't get scared from things like these anymore and I don't like that I actually kinda wanna get disturbed and scared because it's fun for me
oh god now i want an animated series even more. also the limb detaching... it looks familiar and original at the same time. and I like that edit: I like how Rewrite looks like he acts like he's trying to get used to the Sonic world, but struggles with his own stability, (hence the aggression and unstable forms) but I still have some questions. Who is Rewrite? What are his intentions? Does he kill the trio like the OG EXE story?
God i love the lanky and cartoony-ness of ....him...her...? And the say they manipulate their virtual body is like they know what their made of and why i love rewrite

Mark Zuckerberg trying to act like a human:
The thing that scares me the most with Rewrite is that he utilizes one of the more uncommon fears - things moving when they shouldn't.
If you were to see a scary image, you would "huh. well that's creepy" and then move the hell on with your day. You know this is a static image, you know it can't hurt you.
*But when the scary thing suddenly turns around and looks at you?*
And I'm not talking about that clunky, blink and you'll miss it, 180 degree turn. I'm talking about when it slowly smoothly transitions from one pose to another, until it eventually faces you, and even then still moves like an idle animation. It makes the threat feel alive, and by extension, *more real.*
This is used especially well in the fnf mod, where every character animation consists of a set of pre-drawn sprites.
Yeah. That's what makes Rewrite terrifying for me.
imagine one of those generic analogue horror smiling faces but then suddenly it moves and frowns

Tbh the first one looks like Rewrite is adapting to actually moving by himself.

That's awesome
I like how his back fins look like wings when he flies, as well as how his limbs seem to detach when he makes movements that weren't intended for the model he's using.
With all these animations in mind, Rewrite definitely deserves his own video game. There's a lot that he can work with due to his uncanny nature and the 3D space.
0:18 rewrite looking for a way to find another soul
I thought he had an itchy nose lol
Okay, this one legitimately terrified me. Not to say that I'm brave with creepypastas exactly, but normally I get scared in a jumpy way - the kind of fear where I'm REALLY uncomfortable and don't want to keep watching because I know the jumpscare is coming. This one didn't use a jumpscare though; the way Rewrite just got quiet, then right up into "my" face, looking me over with those awful, shifty eyes... I legit can't remember the last time i had this deer-in-headlights feeling. Fantastic job!
I love how in some of these it feels like he's trying to imitate what he thinks are lifelike movements, and failing just a little bit too noticeably.

That is rewrite and he already existed.
definitlly one of my fav exe designs if not my fav
I love how most of his movements that aren't walking or standing look kinda slack like he doesn't really know how to move himself any other way

That ending tho
i really love this exe, just the concept of "a egocentric unhinged digital god" is brilliant
Amazing

Your right. Rewrites Spines are kinda Shaped Like toei sonics Spines
honestly the animations here are so cool
the balance of both "sonic" (rewrite) here being animated by a person and then moving as if HES moving himself is really so god damn cool, PLUS i like how the green hill zone area with the grey fog makes it look like "IMSCARED" which fits rewrite's horror elements
i wouldn't be surprised if someone actually DID make a horror game centered around you running away from rewrite in green hill covered in grey fog and him just staring at you from afar before disappearing and eventually catching you
it'd be a really fun game to run around in!

DAMN NEVERMIND
Rewrite is such a unique Sonic.EXE take. Not only is he self-aware, but he can shapeshift and break the fourth wall. He's like a god that has a whimsical taste for blood.
i've been watching this over, and over again for weeks, unable to truly convey my feelings towards it until now
this is the modern pinnacle of doppelganger horror. so many layers are baked into this that despite how deep i've looked, i still haven't managed to make sense of it. a mod of a game based off a creepypasta based off another game turned into another mod in a completely different game, and now it's rendered here in terrifying retro. someone watching this who only knows sonic, rather than any of the derivatives it took to get here, is getting a real version of the experience spoken of in creepypastas. the very best part of it, too - just after you've brought the haunted media home, and it shows you it's unnatural, but before things get abrasive.
дпдрдп😢
The sonic you see is rewrite.
Expertly animated and designed!
you should check out his designs and lore it’s rlly cool
Rewrite is hands down the best highest effort sonic exe version out there and that is saying a lot considering everyone is making generic lame low effort versions of sonic exe as they take for granted exe’s popularity and capitalize on it without putting any work to it, Rewrite’s artist and developers deserve all the love tbh finally a fresh and incredibly detailed take on a sonic exe mod

Majin and Sonic.exe Devil
Really? Did you get scared? Because atleast for me the face he made in the end is really not scary
@@misterboxhead3045 same for me I saw many scary things and disturbing things that I don't get scared from things like these anymore and I don't like that I actually kinda wanna get disturbed and scared because it's fun for me

wow those animations are unnerving and yet feel incredibly professional i love it
I feel like if this was worked out and made less creepy, this design could theoretically be really cool and unique to the Sonic games
its so cool cuz its not just the scary black eyes blood everywhere thing but its like a more unsettling version of sonic for a more horror feel
I love how much this design doesn't feel like sonic. He's so undynamic in expression and it works surprisingly well
oh god now i want an animated series even more. also the limb detaching... it looks familiar and original at the same time. and I like that
