I have never, ever been impressed with any designer collaboration whether Target, Uniqlo, Gap, Banana Republic, you name it. They always look good, in images, the marketing is slick, the influencers and celebrities get on board, and lots of excited is generated. There's a strong push to convince us we need it. Then the actual product looks different than in the PR, the fabrics are horrible, the resellers scoop it up and list it for inflated prices on eBay, and the pieces don't wear or launder well and end up in the donate pile, often with tags on. It's just a bad idea. It's designers spewing sound bites about democratization of fashion, selling out and dumbing down their work for mass appeal and to make a quick buck. With limited exception, it's a bunch of acrylic, nylon and polyester crap.

I agree, I had to return to Uniqlo my Ines de la Fressange blazer as the material was awful and they were so oversize, even the XXS. However I do have a Uniqlo/Fressange lightwweight duster raincoat that looks very Parisian and this is the only good collab item I've ever bought.

If you wrote a fashion blog I would read it religiously based on this comment alone 😅👌🏻

Your mom only wanted the best for you❤️ But I’d love to see BR and American brands like Dooney & Bourke come back

The pieces don’t appeal to my personal style but it’s an interesting collection. I’d be curious to know whether the people buying this collection are regular BR buyers or fans of his line who never would have considered BR. Could be quite a shrewd move of BR. I think I stopped shopping there about 10 years ago. I was living in the UK at the time and there was so much choice I just stopped going into BR in favor of other brands. Maybe it’s time to check them out again.

Thank you Mary for another great presentation, very well researched as usual. Should you have bought the cashmere jumper? Not for $600, these are crazy prices (for me!) and the bulky jumper could not be worn under a coat or blazer so cool but overpriced and not practical, probably not timeless either.

You're so right about sizes Mary, I am XS (or XXS) and these sizes sometimes are not made or sell out very quickly, also an XS may be more like a S or even M. I also find knee-high boots a problem because they increasingly seem to design them for women with big calves and they look awful on me. There are some wide-fit/comfort ranges for those who are a little bit overweight and of course there's no shame in that, but it is not fair to mix the two. In the UK I have been unable to find slim-fitting suede knee-high boots, they either have that awful stretch panel at the back or have this huge shaft that looks horrendous on a normal size person.

I still have a leather bomber jacket from the BR of the 80’s😂. My mom loved dressing me in BR in my tween/teen years. 😂

I would be tempted but not my size (even for oversized) also live a casual lifestyle in a tropical climate. But this collab introduced me to a new to me designer! I looked into peter do'swebsite he also has the same limited sizing for his knits as well. I like the city print, but the scarf is sold out. I look forward to his helmut lang debut. Congrats to them many things are sold out already!

Hi, an European here. Not sure what you consider the big item, but like 5 years ago HM home was bigger (it never offered for much country not even in Europe everything but I saw in some magazine and then looked online, and ofc it is not sofa or bag) but they were selling marble coffee tables here. I don't buy there, maybe one time in Italy or somehere or I have ordered few things from HM group (&other stories or COS, but overall not a fan, I actually) I was like really, as they looked really, really nice

Oh my goodness I’m so glad you did the video because I was completely clueless to this line!!! First of all I love the New York scarf, and actually think this entire collab looks very promising 😍

Due to designers and merchants deciding to make clothes gender neutral/inclusive, many biological women are going to have a harder time with size and fit. Women who are petite or on the smaller/shorter side shouldn’t have to spend more money on alterations because it’s become fashionable to make one set of clothing for both genders. Regardless of politics or how people identify, men and women will always have different body types. Because of this we will always have vastly different size/fit requirements.

I have never seen anything at BR cost this much. And if we're venturing into this price range, why not go for other brands.

The line isn't quite my style but I was/am seriously pondering the trench with the shearling, the black tuxedo blazer, and the silk blouse. Given the level of design, the materials, and the Peter Do brand, the prices are honestly less than I would have guessed and everything looks like a great value. But like you, I had to be realistic that at 5'3, I'm probably sized out of this - I love an oversized silhouette, but when the clothes look quite oversized on even the tall models, it's probably not going to work for me. I do think that the oversized nature of things means it will work for a large+ size, though. The Cut had a good article with various body sizes and shapes trying on the clothes.

Loved your review. I picked up the black leather skirt. Great cut, weight and quality. I look forward to enjoying this piece for seasons to come.

I had been waiting for this collaboration since I first heard of it. I ended up only buying a tank top in black. Like you, I would have been swamped in fabric.
