I’m not sure if I like the idea of the “real time fishing.” As I usually play later at night on my down time. I’d really like to see this as you get to decide if you make the lobby/game. Just sounds like a bad idea in general. Also the final reel in with the black screen is a no go. 😬
If the whole real-world-time fishing is a thing, it's absolutely idiotic. Like you, most adults have very specific times they can slip away and play games for a bit, and it's usually after work in the evening, after kids are in bed, etc. Like who in the hell is going to wake up at 5 or 6am real time in order to fish in the morning in a video game? What about those people that work graveyards and are up all night? Are they stuck only ever fishing at night. I really can't fathom that this is truly how it works.
I could understand if it's an option you enable, that's fine. But good lord, imagine having to schedule video game fishing to time in real life. Insane.
honestly I've been thirsting for a pseudo real-world-time fishing game since RDR2. I'm honestly happy this game will exist for that purpose. The reel-in screen is definitely a NO-GO though
10lbs for a largemouth bass is definitely appropriate as a diamond score, insanely huge

Here in Romania, The Rainbow Trouts are among or even the most popular fish for the firshermen when it comes to the mountainous rivers and waters.
Yeah, trout species tend to thrive in mountainous streams. Not much else lives in them when it comes to fish.

I'm sold on the fact that there is NO way I'd buy this game.
They've over done it again with not making a "fishing" game. But a game where if you pay them by buying it, they will provide you with monster fish. World record type fish. I see nothing but thumbnails of fish they should not be holding with so little time little time in this game. They do the same in COTW, but I'm much more of a hunter than a fisherman. I have plenty of fishing games and all of them better than this by far.
Enjoy your videos, and appreciate the work put into them. But this game?.... Nope.

The world record LMB is a huuuge exception. TH-cam's top fishing channels that fish public waters rarely catch 10 or even 8/9 pounders, it sometimes depends on the fishery though.
Yeah some guys catch tons of ten pounders… some guys go their whole lives without a double digit. A guy caught a 14.5 last year on the lake I live on. My best is only 6lb 8oz

This is a quest game you can go fishing in. Not a fishing game with quests. I will definitely be holding off on purchasing this game and see what direction they plan on taking the game after its official release.
To this day Fishing Planet still sits at the top as the best fishing game. Of course the grind on Fishing Planet makes it hard for new players, but once you get yourself leveled up to about 50 on FP, it's by far the best fishing game available.
I am re-downloading fishing planet, it's such a difficult game to get down, but atleast it looks infinitely better than this game. The lures don't even work realistically, fish go after lures they would never go after irl.. it's just a MESS.
@@wyatt_COTW you could spend $30 on Fishing Planet DLC and end up with a game way better than this with a much better variety. What sets Fishing Planet apart from the rest IMO is the games mechanics.
That's not to say Fishing Planet doesn't have its own issues, it's far from a perfect game. But it blows this turd out of the water.

Russian Fishing 4 takes the cake for me still, but Fishing Planet isn't bad.

Game honestly looks rushed and incomplete. Possibly has potential but seriously?? Why would they not wait for the Way of the Hunter hype to calm down, and release this when people are looking for something new to play. If they would have waited 6 months they could had used that time to properly make the game instead of all these bug patches and whatever the hell this is that they gave us. Just my opinion, may not be a big deal to the average joe looking to play bass master on the wii😂
My first diamond was today and it's my 2nd day playing. It's a dime smaller at 6 lbs
The bass is not guaranteed to catch it first infact you can catch one anywhere as it took me a while but what gets me is that the popper sinks instead of being top water so I let it drop down to 2ft of depth then cuaght a diamond bass.
This should be dlc for call of the wild, imagine fishing surrounded by birds, moose and bears

Which measurement unit system are you using? Imperial or metric because i see both.
It was bugged when this vid was made, i use imperial and now after the last patch it shows the correct measurements.
Needs name brand equipment Bass Pro, Shakespeare ,Abu Garcia, Eagle Claw,Rapala etc etc the games equipment looks pretty rough.

Little things like the hand palming the bait caster reel would go a long way.. it’s the little things throwing me off 😭

Thought it a great idea when they first announced fishing... shoot a lamb, few ducks and in the evening, go fishing for a bit before jumping back to shooting game. Alas, this was not meant to be.

Will this game come out to console
So disappointing. Seems to me like they threw away a perfect opportunity to really capture the fishing game market. The first fishing game to actually has offer a fully accessible, real size, open world lake is huge...but to ruin it with such poor fishing mechanic decisions and arcade style :( So sad to see. No bottom fishing (how is this not a thing???). Can't keep fish? Noodle fishing rods? Comic book POW strike notifications? Catching largemouth bass with bread? Not being able to walk/move while catching a fish? Big hands covering the entire center of the screen? Ugh.
For expensive world only diamonds are important
u have to remember this game is just starting out, they most likely are gonna add bottom fishing, bow fishing, and maybe fly fishing. they most likely gonna fix the casting and feeling animations due to community dislike. TheHunter was also pretty bad at start but now it’s amazing.
@@snagmn Here's hoping they get around to all of that. If they do, this is a "come back to in a year" game for me. It's also perfectly fine is their target audience is a very casual arcade crowd. I'm sure there's a market for that.
Sadly I don't think they can add bowfishing because they said that they are going to keep it strictly catch and release to get the widest player base

imo, game looks too raw for the release yet.
The only complain i have so far is the missing carp fishing with rod pods, feeder rods and the ridiculous shivering of the rod when he reels in the fish, omg this looks so stupid ...
Glad they let the content creators show the game off, now I don't need to get excited because this looks like a terrible fishing game.
They somehow made the fishing the worst part about the game. The graphics, the people, the sound is all amazing.

fish move really slow - slow
I'll probably end up getting it. I've been playing CoTW for the past few years so why not. But, maybe I'm nitpicking, but the fish as seen in the water and when you're actually holding it is off. Way off. When you're reeling in the fish, the pole is bending like you got a whale on the end of your line. Then when you actually see the fish, it looks like a little baby. When you catch and hold the fish, that little baby turned into a huge fish.
Idk why people keep trashing on this game, of course it’s not going to be as realistic because it’s a game. theHunter CoTW isn’t realistic with it being a shooting gallery but we all love it. If you want a truly realistic fishing game, just go out and actually go fishing. I’ve fished my whole life and I can say you’ll get skunked more often than not. If I had a bad day fishing, I’d gladly hop on this and catch stuff. This game looks really fun crow!

You are reeling in way too slow. You can catch these fish a lot faster.
Watch the other TH-camrs catch them....they catch those in about 15 seconds.

Ugh this game looks like a massive flop from what I’ve seen so far. Sorry to be harsh but just in this video looking at the way the fish swim it’s like there’s no current at all. The rod holding animations look terrible and the fighting. Massively disappointed I thought maybe it’s not gunna be just another fishing game but it turns out it’s worst!

Map is a complete waste of time and effort from devs. So much space wasted and totally not needed. Strange design. Graphics look extremely dated too. Zero interest in this game, huge letdown. They should have spent the time on a new hunting game with fishing in it

Garbage. It's going to go the way of theHunter: Primal.
These lures do NOT work realistically at ALL. A trout would NEVER bite that kind of spinner bait, twitching the line with one would also just ruin the spinning on it. Nor would a trout ever be interested by a popper, only bass. Trout should be more interested by spinners and bugs, so they should add fly fishing if that doesn't exist.
This game needs to heavily work on what lures work for what. Very very unprofessional game. Super disappointed that I have to stick with fishing planet.
