    • @WrenFaithBridger
      @WrenFaithBridger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think that it's BECAUSE of all the "going off" in the '80s that caused artists to up the ante...and for record buyers to fall right in line for the controversy. Think about it. If parents had kept their cool (and Tipper Gore kept her big trap shut), it would have probably taken a lot longer for things to get as bad as they are now...but it would have eventually, because controversy sells. Some of these album stepped out of the line of comfort some in the best way and some in the worst way. If it was heavy metal oh boy that would escalate quickly if it was rap especially NWA and for public enemy it was on the good side because it talks about very important issues that was going on and to be honest they were all creative

    What about Molotov? I know it's a Spanish speaker band, and this is an English speaker channel, but their first album were very controversial
    They even had to sell it by their selves on streets

    What about Dismembers debut album "Like an everflowing stream" wich got banned in the U.K because of the track "Skin her alive", and the police even went out to record stores to confiscate the album. The band had to fly to England and appear in court to explain themselves. The song was deemed "indecent & obscene" wich the band later named their second album to as a kind of mockery

      Perhaps. Although, Like A Prayer did incite a boycott from the Pope so I get why they chose it instead. Both were apparently pretty controversial for their time lol.

    Marc Almond (Marc and the Mambas) despite BBC RADIO ONE Kid Jensen supporting the album was banned by HMV for "obscenity". Now it is freely available for on Spotify anywhere (start at track 3). Track 4 got it banned but it still got to UK charts 28 which is a lot more sales than today. It was number 2 in Leeds uk records when I bought it as teenager 1983

    Parental Advisory labels were similar to having a blood alcohol machine at a party...One view was the advisory label would keep albums out of kids' hands, as BA machines would make people at the party realize they weren't in a condition to drive. Reality was an advisory label meant FOR SURE BUY, and the BA machines became a game to see who could become more inebriated. Hello?

    The N.W.A. definitely got hip-hop into it's gangster theme of the genre cause without them hip-hop would have still remain a party genre.

    Would have liked to have seen Dr.Dre's The Chronic on here was by far more influential than the Straight Outta Compton album and was released around the time of the Rodney King trial and really sparked the change in Hip-Hop which also brought new names and faces such as Krupt and Snoop Dogg.
