I met Matthew Lillard last year and he is literally the most down to earth guy ever. There was a kid in front of me that had wanted to meet him forever because his character in SLC Punk had changed his life. He told Matthew the story and gave him a big hug. The kid tried to pull away from the hug and Matthew refused to let go. He knew this moment meant a lot to him, you could tell. He truly loves his fans very much. I was amazed by his compassion. Great guy

"Zoinks, Scooby Doo, remember when I told you that I killed about a dozen people while wearing a costume and mask inspired by a painting and died but then resurrected? Well I also killed 5 kids and stuffed them in animal suits and now they're mad at me, please help!"
This man is the salt of the earth. I was lucky enough to meet him at a horror convention and honestly I was so scared to meet him and he just gave me a hug and made me laugh the whole time and he did a Q&A with Skeet Ulrich too and one of the questions for him was "what has been/is your favourite role to play?" And straight away he said Shaggy. He loves to play Shaggy, to bring joy to children and adults alike and make them laugh, he just loves it so much. He's so wonderful.
Do you know how often he does conventions? I missed out on the opportunity to meet him when he came to my state and I'm worried he might never come back

I met him a couple months ago at one of those rushed conventions where you have to pay a shit ton to have five seconds and a picture. I walked in, introduced myself a little, and told him I'd never been to a convention before and that I was really nervous. He told me i was doing great and gave me a hug, even let me just have it for a moment before they took the picture. I walked out of there crying.

Not many stars come out from behind the table at the cons. This was awesome. Stand up guy.
When he said that KC chose him to be the new Shaggy, he broke down because it was more than just a cartoon character, he said I've done plenty of them. He goes, it was playing someone that he worked up to as a kid. That was a role model, and even though he was a coward. Shaggy was a coward Shaggy was a coward. He would put that cowardness aside if it meant saving his friends.
No, you can clearly see he's crouching down in this video, not standing up, silly.
This is why he's currently plays Shaggy now. He lives and breathes the character.
You can tell he’s a father. That’s a dad’s patience and kindness right there.
Man, he’ll legit stop doing whatever he’s doing to acknowledge there’s a child in the room, switch to dad mode and say hello. That’s a precious human being there.
