The s8 sold me over my iPad pro. First android tablet, and that was my last iPad... Sick of a watered down tablet. I always had to have .y surface with me when I too am my iPad. I can can actually take my s8+ with no other computer. I have left my work laptop at home and used it the s8 with a surface as a second screen... Even more just use 4he s8+ by itself. WebApps work perfectly in 4he Samsung browser, no stupid mobile mode. Dex mode is legit as it gets. So many smart features that I continue to be impressed. I am apple free these days and loving it. You can develop on the s8 like a computer. It's just crazy how good of a computer it is... Then you are right back with a great tablet experience.

I would love to use it on my Surface, my brother's Tab S8 Ultra, or even on my PC or Mac with a drawing tablet. The same goes for several of the apps and games that are made for Windows only or Android only. It's becoming easier and easier to develop for multiple platforms and the excuses for not doing so are growing thinner and thinner.
In all honesty I only really use my computer's for image editing these days, most other stuff I can get by easily with my Samsung Tab. I can't deny the Apple ecosystem is more cohesive, but I prefer the flexibility of Android and it good to see Samsung invested in building the systems and improving with every generation. Hi, I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The device is tremendous so far. However, I found some missing features needed to make the experience better especially for keyboard users and DeX Mode. 1. Option in Wireless/Wired DeX for prioritizing the quality vs responsiveness. For example, when playing video in DeX, you want the experience as smooth as it can be. While in gaming, you need a fast response promptly. 2. The extended desktop in DeX Mode. When you have a presentation, there is a presenter view and a presentation view. In the presenter's view, the presenter will have some functions and notes. In the presentation view, the screen will show the audience the presentation only. 3. More customization for the APP function key. Currently, these APP key has only shortcut. However, they can be assigned to a function instead for better control. For an instant, if you need to control a music player, you need to open the application and press the key to play, pause, forward, backward and so on. If these keys can be assigned to the aforementioned functions, that will make the keyboard greater. 4. Custom Hot Keys. When you are chatting on messaging application such as Whatsapp, it is a pain to write and click on send for each message you are sending. Instead, some sequence of keys can be programmed to be Hot Keys. For example, pressing Shift + Enter will act as pressing Double Tabs then Enter to send the message, then Double Shift Tabs to back into the text box. I found these items during my usage of the device for 7 months. I wish that Samsung can address these features to enrich the experience of its software. Thanks.

I have both a Fold 4 and a Tab S7+. It's incredible how the tablet is missing key features that the fold isn't. Namely the Zoom and Layout function. On the Fold, apps like Twitter, Facebook and TikTok default to a column layout, while the tablet just shows a blown out version of the mobile layout. Samsung needs to fix this ASAP. People don't upgrade their tablets as much as their phones.
Wow, I'm actually pretty impressed with the M8 Smart Monitor. The minimalist design and thin body is so great to look at. What impressed me the most was the "smart" side of it, and the ability to run web based Office 365 apps. Pretty cool!

I use that setup with my zfold4, and I love it. Being able to get to my desk and continue working on my smart device is priceless. I also love using the Microsoft phone app when being productive at my desk. Thanks for your hard work.
A great video, with some cool recommendations. I edit video in Lumafusion on an iPad. The worst part is the file handling. I was wondering how it would be on the S8 Ultra, now that Lumafusion has arrived. I have tried to use an iPad in place of my aging, key-bouncing MacBook Air but the iPad still feels limited.
I see many people using LumaFusion on an iPad, which is not a problem with files. It is different from a desktop OS, so it takes time to get accustomed to it. In reality, the Tab S8 and iPad file systems are the same, but on the Tab, it looks more like Windows. Due to the extra layer of protection, iPad apps are sandboxed, so the file system has to work around that.
From the little tinkering I've done it's better in the sense you can grab files locally or externally from an external hard drive if you like and or the cloud.
I use a samsung tab for emails,notetaking( actually a lot) and stuff, some apps are more confortable than using the browser in a computer ,easier and faster ,so my tab replace almost my needs except some special neess like programming or Microsoft suite,wich is not complete on Android, buy yeah it is good :)
It has been more than 1 year that I've been using a tablet with Android as my main computer, (a hybrid system Desktop, Laptop and Smartphone). My computer is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and I love it! So far my setup works well according to my needs. Sure that must be a dream coming true to have a S8 Ultra. But yeah, who knows in the future I can reach that dream. In my opinion, the only downside between modern tablets like S8 versus my S5e is the fingerprint sensor. I prefer the S5e fingerprint sensor position (side-mounted) because my hands sweat a lot and I avoid touching its screen. I am using it as my main device since I do not edit videos or things like that, but I work with financial markets, and there is all apps and websites I need to work with as professional trader, so it is ok for me as a main device.
if you are an artist and uses the tab s8 Ultra mainly for drawing ,sketching and writing, the lamy EMR is fantastic choice. I paired with a matte paperlike screen protector and got a pair of titanium nibs for the pen from amazon (the regular s-pen nibs got chewed up in minutes with the matte screen), its a killer combo for drawing. Now I dont think I can go back to the glass screen with plastic nib. However keep in mind that a matte screen protector can take away just a little bit of the amoled screen wow factor, just because it makes it, well, matte. But is woth trying out if your an artist.

Yes, people expecting the Tab to be as good as a Windows laptop will be disappointed. The Tab S8 is for people that can do all their workflow on Android, as the iPad is for people that can do all on iPadOS. Most prosumers will have a tablet and laptop combo, which is my advice to everyone who can afford both.
My non-work related computing needs are provided by the Samsung Tab S6 I bought a few years back based on your excellent reviews :) I'm using Termux + TermuxArch + bVNC to run a full Linux terminal environment. I use it to for almost my casual programming needs. 5% of my remaining usage is also on the Tab S6, but with DEX and attached to a 24" external monitor, primary use this for selecting best of shots for our personal camera roll. Lastly, I have a Raspberry Pi for the remaining 1%, for example when I need to do raw operations on SD cards which Android sadly limits. This setup replaced by old Surface Pro 3. Which I gave away for someone in need.
Awesome video Thao. Question, Does a SamsungTab S6 allow for an extended desktop using dex and an external monitor? This way I have more monitor real estate, utilizing my tablet screen and monitor. My current setup is still the refurbished Galaxy Tab S6 I purchased after watching your reviews and my work donated Surface Pro 3 departing shortly afterwwards. I love DeX but hate syncing everything between my phone and tablet both android, so I think my next device will be the Galaxy Fold 4 hooked up to a usb-c dock and smart monitor. 🤔 Probably be the Fold 5 by the time I get around to it 😉

Hello i have some questins about app for samsung. I really like tab s9 ultra but im amateur photographer and normally im using lightroom and photoshop in my mac for my photos.... But no chance to download photoshop for samsung tablets (im not talking about photoshop express its not same fully version) and i know clip studio paint app for samsung but i want to ask.... For example, can I process my photos layer by layer? Or can I combine two photos? For example, can I delete the sky in a photograph and give it a space image? May i use clip studio app same like photoshop tablet version... or this app only for drawing Thank you
Samsung is great but the apps ain't! Microsoft office suit still doesn't have all the functions and are very buggy! Samsung files still doesn't support encrypted smb3 which is unfortunate. I really wish they haven't abandoned the Linux on Dex - it would've work really great with the bug tablets like tab s8
PLEASE PLEASE make a vid going detailing things you can do with the tab s8 series and the newer flagship phones. Im a 1st year samsung with the Tab s8 ultra and about to swap my 13 promax for an s23 ultra. I can't seem to extend my tablet screen when I connect with a wire (HDMI to USB-C). It works perfectly fine wirelessly with my M7 monitor.. Am really not sure what's wrong!
@@vical_37 yes I did. You have to set for dex to auto load when cable is plugged in. Not sure what that has to do with display settings but that's how Samsung does it.

I use the the Tab S8 Ultra as a wireless 2nd screen when at work. At home it does a fantastic job as a simple home PC. With office 365 Mobile apps I can also do some light work flow remotely. Will try out Lumafusion

The setup desk looks really nice but I can't help it just how the samsung z flip stands out beautifully in it's nice colorful case

Does a SamsungTab S6 allow for an extended desktop using dex and an external monitor? This way I have more monitor real estate, utilizing my tablet screen and monitor.

My current setup is still the refurbished Galaxy Tab S6 I purchased after watching your reviews and my work donated Surface Pro 3 departing shortly afterwwards. I love DeX but hate syncing everything between my phone and tablet both android, so I think my next device will be the Galaxy Fold 4 hooked up to a usb-c dock and smart monitor. 🤔 Probably be the Fold 5 by the time I get around to it 😉
What usb c dock do you use for tab s6?

Hello i have some questins about app for samsung. I really like tab s9 ultra but im amateur photographer and normally im using lightroom and photoshop in my mac for my photos....
But no chance to download photoshop for samsung tablets (im not talking about photoshop express its not same fully version) and i know clip studio paint app for samsung but i want to ask....
For example, can I process my photos layer by layer? Or can I combine two photos? For example, can I delete the sky in a photograph and give it a space image? May i use clip studio app same like photoshop tablet version... or this app only for drawing

Samsung is great but the apps ain't! Microsoft office suit still doesn't have all the functions and are very buggy! Samsung files still doesn't support encrypted smb3 which is unfortunate. I really wish they haven't abandoned the Linux on Dex - it would've work really great with the bug tablets like tab s8
PLEASE PLEASE make a vid going detailing things you can do with the tab s8 series and the newer flagship phones. Im a 1st year samsung with the Tab s8 ultra and about to swap my 13 promax for an s23 ultra. Outside of using your phone as a tool bar in paint I haven't seen anything talking about the tab s8 and the samsung phones together.

I can't seem to extend my tablet screen when I connect with a wire (HDMI to USB-C). It works perfectly fine wirelessly with my M7 monitor.. Am really not sure what's wrong!

@@vical_37 yes I did. You have to set for dex to auto load when cable is plugged in. Not sure what that has to do with display settings but that's how Samsung does it.

I just got the Samsung Galaxy tab s8 ultra and love it. I miss my Samsung phone bc I love the notes better on samsung than on apple notes
I went from an ipad pro 11 2018 model to a Samsung tab S8 plus after it fully died and they are literally my laptop for work and play.
I've been using my S8.+ as my only computer for about a year now and I can't see myself moving back.
Waiting for blender to come into android or arm CPU strong enough to run it on Linux emulator seemlessly

The BATTLE between Samsung and Apple is such a BLESSING for consumers, adding Lumafusion is great for Android users, now we just need a few more professional apps like Audacity to enjoy the Android OS world.

I use the the Tab S8 Ultra as a wireless 2nd screen when at work. At home it does a fantastic job as a simple home PC. With office 365 Mobile apps I can also do some light work flow remotely. Will try out Lumafusion

Ive really been wanting this monitor for work. But I didn't want to spend the $800 it was priced at. When I saw the $330 off I was so excited. Only to see it's USA only. Bummer. Guess I'll wait for boxing day and see if it goes on a decent sale here where I live. Or get the M7, I hear there's not much of a difference between the two. Great video by the way. I've wanted an S8 Ultra. But as an artist, that'd be a huge investment. Social media makes it look like we all get hired and have a ton of stuff, bit most of us have like, a $150 second hand Huion tablet hooked up to our school laptop, or dads old pc

Another stellar video. I'm very interested in that monitor, but I need another monitor like I need a hole in my head. Just scored a 30" Apple Cinema Display on Facebook Marketplace for $150. Still an amazing monitor for being 17 years old.
You don't need MS Office 365, you can use instead Collabora - LibreOffice for Android instead.

I currently have a Tab S7+. I won't be buying another Samsung tablet until they get rid of that horrible notch.
I use the tab s8 plus for everything and hopefully it's enough for grad school. I don't edit on it but hopefully someday
