The movie is based on the Rampart scandal, and Alonzo is based on former LAPD officer Rafael Perez, aka Ray Lopez, who did worse stuff than Alonzo and barely faced any consequences for it. I think in total, he has served 3 years in prison.

It's such great writing too. The lesson of the story is that you need to be in control of your emotions, and Alonzo just can't grasp it and thinks it's utter nonsense.

As an old goat(og) gang member whose clique is always in these movies(opening scene, that video arcade) but never credited(ws18st/7BGS), Id like to put you on some game; it's very close to real. The restaurant scene, that ThePacificDiningCar(now closed), where judges, lawyers, and cops all get badass steaks and hella hard drinks. It's also directly across from the 'new' rampart station. The days of the ol' street bulls(cops) are over, because of video cameras. But if you knock a couple zeros off the ammts, there's some dark reality in this.
It's filmed all thru the Westside until u get to the PJ's. Anyway, you on fire homie, keep up the reviews!

The story and script for this movie are good, nothing too special but good. But man the performances from Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington are legendary. Guys have that Magic/Kareem chemistry and it's a big credit to Ethan Hawke to not get swallowed up by Denzel, not too many actors can be a Denzel co-star and not get drowned out (I think Russel Crowe and Viola Daivs are others who held their own with Denzel). Great video bro!

Actually just remembered another one-- Route 666 with Lou Diamond Phillips. It's low budget as hell, parts of it are stupid to the moon and back, but it's one of those films where the cast is everybody's childhood, the ideas are badass, and the tone/imagery is one of those throwbacks we'll likely never see again.
Without spoiling too much, it's a jokey buddy cop action flick meets a supernatural horror flick, and the "monster" is this unjustly murdered old time chain gang that come back as ghost-zombie things, each with their own road crew implement turned weapon, who's spirits have literally FUSED with the cursed road, and they're all made up to LOOK like they're part of the road they were buried under.
That's the main sell, but it also does (or at least attempts) some other stuff around the edges that's kind of interesting and you kind of wish they'd have really explored it more.
Again, kinda dumb, has a lot of bad editing and some of the writing is stupid-- but a lot of the flick is fun and laid-back and pretty badass-- some of the comedy even manages to be intentional!

Man, I remember being at this party here in Florida, and I wasn't liking the vibe after seeing people smoking rock and how unpredictable they get while on it. I was about to leave when one of the guys grabbed my arm and said, 'What, you're leaving? You don't like my party?' He was one of the guys smoking rock, and I had left my gun in the car. I was like, 'Yea, it's that. I live an hour away.' He asked where I was staying, and I said the furthest town away. He looked at me for what seemed like an eternity and then said, 'Oh, okay, well, drive safe.' I got in my car, and as I was pulling out of the driveway, I had one hand on the steering wheel and the other on my piece, just in case. The whole interaction lasted like 5 minutes, but if anyone has been in situations like those, time just seems to slow down, and a million thoughts go through your head.

5:11 if you look deeper into the way hee holding his guns, in one hand he’s holding his gun upright like a police officer would. In the other hand he’s old oh it to the side like a dealer/ street dude would. I think it’s symbolic for the movie to show what kind of officer Lonzo is. To show that he’s an officer of the law but also he’s a crooked, street smart corrupt cop.

I’d love to see you review the film Narc by Joe Carnahan. It stars Ray Liotta and Jason Patric as Detroit Narco cops. It’s a pretty good movie. Got some crazy editing.

Best Film reviews. Homie has wit when making a joke. Funny and describes the movie's essence while entertaining the viewer. A lot of laugh out loud moments

The real life person who was the inspiration for Denzel's character in this movie was also the inspiration for officer tenpenny on GTA San Andreas if I'm not mistaken...
