Yep, the built in mixer certainly helps. I've experimented with that a bit, but it feels a bit clumsy. Easier to just plan on normalizing when you pull your recording into the DAW.
Well, I’m gonna eat a little bit of crow since who knows when the H1 XLR is gonna be available. I went out and purchased an H6 essential. I can’t play with it today but maybe by next Friday I’ll have some test recordings done with it and I can see if I’m gonna keep it or not.
The play button is actually a play/pause button, giving it dual use. You should be able to pause while recording with this button. I never do this myself, instead preferring to let the record keep going and cut out dead spots while editing.
I'm not associated with Zoom, so I can't provide any insight into their product line. I can tell you the H4essentials has some clear accessibility improvements and I hope to make another video about that soon!
No real people have gotten their hands on The H1 XLR. I'm waiting for someone to actually use it who is not paid or was not given one of these things before I go buy it. It doesn't seem that bad for 150 bucks but based on its specs I might as well just keep the recorders I have. Other than the 32-bit float it's kind of lacking in everything else.
@@sr3d-microphones In the average of the essential series reviews, that have all been lacking (in the actually recorded audio). I was hoping they fixed that lacking on the H1, but its still is basically a no show. I guess they are tied up in legal with sony, they have a pre-existing product with a sequence flipped name.

You're welcome!
great tutorial!
Glad you think so!
Good vid.
Thanks. Hope it helped!
Hello Nathan. I would like to use it with my power bank. Can it be done? Thanks in Advance!
Yes! In fact, Zoom did away with the separate DC power input on this model in favor of using the USB as power input.

Hi, how do you pause while recording, since sometime along while recording you need to pause and continue before stoping ?

Quick question Nathan, does this allow you to loop a recording? I can’t tell.
Do you mean overdubbing? I don't think so. A bit of googling reveals a few sources that says the feature is missing (compared to the H4n).
So I don't understand why there is an H1 XLR. 🤣

Like what? What else would you need?
