Hey Matt! I have to give a huge shout-out to you!! Your Bronx River video woke something up inside of me and inspired me to get my own foldable kayak (I went with Tucktec) and get out there on my own. I watched a lot of different videos and did a lot of research to prepare myself. I've never kayaked before in my life nor did I ever have any interest until I saw your video. Basically I've been sitting home on my days off watching TH-cam videos... cooking, van life, and recently I found your kayaking videos which led me to think to myself, why am I sitting here watching this when I could be living it instead??? So.... Matt, thank you! I visited Coney Island Creek yesterday and it was beautiful and awesome! I had so much fun! I'm embarrassed to post my video because I don't have the skills yet and it didn't come out like your videos, not even close. But I'm learning. Thanks again and I hope you post more videos soon. Today I'm thinking about checking out a creek in Staten Island I saw on go paddle.com
Wow, I love every bit of this! So amazing! Now that you are living it, please don't stop watching! This made my day. Thank you. I appreciate it more than you know.
I will definitely keep watching your videos, very cool!!! Today I launched out of Gerritsen kayak launch inlet and it was great 👍👍👍 Parking right next to the entrance. If you haven't been there it's nice to check out Keep on keeping on!!!
Same here. I've never kayaked in my life and I asked my sister if I can join her the next time she does! 😆 I told her about these foldables and she didn't even know about them.
Anyone else can’t stop watching this channel? I thought I was a life-long New Yorker. I’ve ridden every train line to every part of the city, but this channel has led to new discoveries as I never have been able to explore these waterways. Thanks for your original, fascinating content that has opened the eyes of this 60-something year old New Yorker. 😮 🔥 😮
this only my 3rd vid of his, love this content. lifelong nyer too, 50 yrs. never knew there was a stranded submarine in nyc. The new york waterway, little explored, great avenue for this channel.
I grew very near to Coney Island and I never heard about the yellow submarine. I have enjoyed all of your videos. They give a perspective that most of us cannot see up close.
My father who has lived in NYC all of his life and knows nearly every street (having worked as a NY cab driver) was intrigued and sat down to watch this with me and he loved it. He didn't know this creek existed and was in awe of the submarine.
That's really awesome. If you haven't watched yet, check out my newest video, the Staten Island Ship Graveyard. You'll enjoy it with your father too. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Very cool seeing the Quester one submarine I read a lot about it very cool loved seeing the back side on the creek amazing to see wild life in an urban setting thanks for the ride :-)

Taking a train over Coney Island Creek while in John Dewey high school In the mid 1970's students nickname the creek "Perfume Creek" due to its Putrid smell of rotten eggs. A nice video of you exploring Brooklyn's waterways
I enjoy your videos, as they are not only interesting but very relaxing! Also, never thought that there would be any type kayaking would be available around Brooklyn or NY!
Hey Matt - perhaps you'd enjoy paddling along the Hackensack River in NJ - particularly near the Hackensack Meadowlands Conservation and Wildlife Area and the HMDC Nature Center near North Arlington NJ (where I lived when I was a little kid in the 1960s). Great job on your videos.
Thanks for another great video.. It's a mini history lesson on things mostly forgotten to time. New York has a lot of forgotten history, but not to be surprised, as it was one of the original 13 colonies back in the day. I laughed to myself, as you are continually seeing so much debris in the water., but at least no E-Bikes to pull out of the water this time. Keep up with the cool videos in spirit of exploration. As always, love the videos and narration.. Well done 👍
Hahaha. Funny thing is, that's only been a funny thing for TH-cam. I rarely eat hotdogs. 🤣🤣🤣 Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them but it's not a regular thing like the channel may lead some to believe. Lol
Many years ago, a friend and I went on a hike from the amusement area, through the neighborhood of Coney Island (so many fruit trees in people's yards) and into the area I knew as "Six Diamonds" behind the new Home Depot. WHen my son had played little league at the ballfield, I remembered wandering towards the creek and seeing so much trash thrown into the creek -- refrigerators, washing machines. But that day we were looking for weeds -- or plants -- and we found amazing plants growing in the border around the balllfields above the creek. There was someone living up there, in a sort of dugout, on the emabankmet, with a few fishing lines permanently laying in small trenches in the creek bank, so we skirted their space. A memorable day. So much to see in the city.

Thanks for sharing. I used to work at that Verizon garage you passed in the creek. I’ve pulled my boat to that gas dock next door to it many years ago when things looked much better and watched the World Trade Center ruins burn from the very beach you had lunch on during the 9/11 attack. The area has changed so much.

That fence wasn't on the side of the subway bridge when I retired in 2015. I'm puzzled why it was put there. There are a bunch of old train radios in the water next to the bridges where the subway runs. I used to park in Coney Island Yard, and my day ended at Stillwell Avenue terminal. I used to walk the tracks across the creek and into the yard in the middle of the night. Certain times of the year there were things that looked like shrimp swimming near the surface in such great numbers that the water looked like it was boiling. I have seen nice sized blue fish in the creek as well, probably chasing baitfish. The creek used to smell awful down near where it ends, but some years ago they cleaned it out so it is not as bad. It was nice to watch your video. I left Brooklyn after living there for 60+ years. I miss salt water. I'm south of Niagara Falls now in a small town. Love this! You take excellent advantage of kayaks' ability to go where few other boats dare. Speaking of dares, how about the Fresh Kills Ship Graveyard? ;)
These videos are great !!!! Born and raised in NYC and was always intrigued by the history of the waterways. Does shed a light on the fact that with all the city resources, the waterways should be cleaned up. Currently live in Dallas, these videos make me miss home
Great video! I was raised within walking distance of the creek. A couple of suggestions; Some historical data would be interesting. Coney Island creek did at one point connect with Sheepshead bay thus making Coney Island an actual island. The creek was filled in along the route where the Belt parkway currently runs. Also, for those who reside outside the area, an overview of a map. or nautical chart that depicts your travel route would be helpful and interesting.
I'm originally from Carnise and stayed with my grandmother-Brighton 4th-the building that's up against the boardwalk-while attending SVA. I didn't realize the creek once ran to Sheepshead Bay. I Love NY/American history!...I also thought that it would be cool if he showed us his route.
@turbostar321 Thank you so much!! You watched the Ship Graveyard and also the USS Ling videos? Westchester Creek has a few too. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Thank you for doing the Coney Island creek. I live in Coney Island and always wanted to see from the creek level. To bad you didn’t get past the D, N train tracks, there’s a big field to the left where a lot of birds and swans lay eggs. The creek ends at Shell road and really stinks over there at low tide. The end does have a lot of fish in it loaded with small fry and fluke.
Greetings from Argentina, I really enjoyed your video, the hidden and wonderful places that NYC has are incredible, it is the great dream of my life to be able to visit that city sometime, congratulations and thank you for sharing your video.
Thank you so much!! Just told my girlfriend about your comment. Love it. Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope you'll check out other videos of mine as well. My other Brooklyn video, I ride the Cyclone rollercoaster at the end.
A very unique perspective indeed. Most of us will never experience in person. The Bronx river video was my first time on your channel. Theres an abandoned Island northeast of Orchard Beach bordering Westchester County New York Known as David's Island. Just an idea. Thanks again for sharing. 👍
I was paddling Pelham Bay Park, Hog Island and a bunch of smaller islands around there yesterday but I didn't go to David's Island. I'll keep that Island in mind.
Great videos…It’s so great to see NYC from such different perspectives. Congrats on your TH-cam success. That was a great meal to celebrate. Chili dogs rule. Stay well👍😉
That was neat! Love the "tropical" parts of Staten Island, and great lunch spot! Judging how that first ladder rung on the submarine was corroded, walking on it was a little "sketchy"! And congrats on the YT news!
They make underwater drones. I know you couldn't use it everywhere you go, but I think it could add some really cool shots, especially to something like this.
Yes, I do have an underwater case for my camera. Been waiting for the right circumstance where the water is clear enough. Def will in the future. I also want to add an actual drone into the mix.
Wow! You just got a fan, and as a New Yorker, I love yes you should kayak the waters of New York City. It great to discover these places. And it open the eyes how polluted and the need to take care of river, creeks, and outlets. Thx 🙏. I’m watching all your vlog
@@TwoFeetOutdoors I watched the Bronx one first sine I’m from the Bronx, then the Harlem River and now Coney Island. They are awesome 👏. Have you ever tried city island or the Long Island Sound. Keep doing it! I’ll keep watching. Plus the hot dog look delicious 😋
Really cool video, buddy. That’s my old neighborhood right there. A good friend of mine used to sit outside by that Starbucks and always referred to it as “coffee on the canal”… haha. I love stand up paddle boarding and e-foiling in those same water at Coney Island Creek… but keep that beautiful spot a secret! 😎 Love those Nathan dogs too 💪
That was a fun little trip. I live very close to the area for the last 35 years and have ridden my bicycle over the Cropsey Ave bridge to Coney Island. The water below is very polluted which I'm sure you have already known. It was fun to see the same view as I have seen for many years but thru a boat ride. I so enjoyed taking this little relaxing trip with you. I am happy you did not go underneath the second "grate" as I too felt it was a little low and did not want you to fall into the water, that would not have of been fun. Thank you again for taking us on this little excursion.

I think you do a good job with your editing. Your videos have a nice flow to them.
@elthehermit2059 Thank you so much! I appreciate you saying that. This means a lot to me. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I really like your videos, especially when you visit shipwrecks
@turbostar321 Thank you so much!! You watched the Ship Graveyard and also the USS Ling videos? Westchester Creek has a few too. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
It's cool to see all the these places I've been for my exploring hikes from a different perspective. I'm considering getting a kayak now
That's awesome. Thank you!
I hoped to make it to Shell Road. I didn't like that 2nd spot unter the train bridge. 😕
Matt. You could do an outdoor cooking show
This is it. 🤣🤣🤣 It's the "Kayaking Kooking" show with Two Feet Outdoors. 😀
Greetings from Argentina, I really enjoyed your video, the hidden and wonderful places that NYC has are incredible, it is the great dream of my life to be able to visit that city sometime, congratulations and thank you for sharing your video.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting from Argentina! I really appreciate it! I hope you'll check out other videos of mine. 😀
Congrats, and thanks for hitting the nail on the head as far as peaceful video-making goes.
Pinning this comment. Thank you!
That’s one AWSOME find Matt right there in Coney Island Creek.
Thank you! This was a fun video to make. So unique and interesting. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I loved you getting on top of the submarine that made my night. Sucha sick video I can't stop watching ahahah
Love this type of video's. Outdoor in N.Y.C rivers and bays.
Thank you!
Your videos are so relaxing to watch. Very interesting. Its interesting to see such peaceful parts especially in a big city... 👍
Thank you! Your 1st sentence is key in a world that sometimes feels beyond our control. I want my videos to be relaxing.
@@TwoFeetOutdoorsyour welcome. All the best.
Great videos…It’s so great to see NYC from such different perspectives. Congrats on your TH-cam success. That was a great meal to celebrate. Chili dogs rule. Stay well👍😉
Just found you. From Staten Island always wanted to do what you're doing being that I love on a island water everwhere. Safe travels.
Thank you for watching.
Myself living on the west coast all my life, I was able to follow along on Google Maps. Very interesting and thanks for the fascinating video.
Thank you. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Amazing the amount of ships around New York City. I realize it’s a large Seaport, but it’s hard to believe so many were just left to rot.
@Mag_Aoidh Thank you for watching and commenting. Did you also watch my ship graveyard video?
How awesome! Very interesting, all the content of your video. TH-cam just suggested your channel, so glad it did 🙂
I'm glad it did too. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it. I have lots of other videos you may like too. Thanks.
Was pretty cool to see the submarine up close like that... Thank you for your videos
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Spent 4 years in Aberdeen Maryland , ( military) went to the city quite a few times in those years , I really enjoy you're prospective of this area!
I'm always by there by the verazano bridge. Lots of good fishing and crabbing spots out there.
Now you're in my neighborhood ,I'm in Gerritsen creek
I paddle up through Marine Park in my Brooklyn video. Then I ride the Cyclone 😀
That was neat! Love the "tropical" parts of Staten Island, and great lunch spot! Judging how that first ladder rung on the submarine was corroded, walking on it was a little "sketchy"!
And congrats on the YT news!
Congratulations, thanks for all the great videos
Thank you for watching!
@arlenesolis024 Awesome!!! Thank you. Welcome to Two Feet Outdoors 😀 Is this the 1st video of mine you watched, or have you watched others?
@@TwoFeetOutdoors I watched the Bronx one first sine I’m from the Bronx, then the Harlem River and now Coney Island. They are awesome 👏. Have you ever tried city island or the Long Island Sound. Keep doing it! I’ll keep watching. Plus the hot dog look delicious 😋
@@arlenesolis024 My other Bronx video is at Pelham Bay Park. Such a beautiful paddle. You love it. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and commenting.
You need to kayak the Gowanus Canal as well as the Newtown/Maspeth Creek
Gowanus canal may be my next video. Been doing some research. So crazy!
2 of the 3 kayaked / canoed and posted.
@@TwoFeetOutdoors i watched the Newtown creek one.. it really twisted and turned alot but was very interesting to witness. I watched the first half of the Gowanus canoe row last night but paused it as a long day finally set in. About to watch the rest of that video! Can't wait!
@@gildisc9759 Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

This is cool exploring NYC by kayak.
Thank you! I happen to agree. 😀
Well done man! I'm hoping to follow some day! Keep the stoke for the craft and the paddle alive!
Thank you so much!!
Do Wallabout Bay or Maspeth Creek. Nice call with the Nathan's at Coney Island.
@myradioon Here's my video from Newtown Creek (the larger area of Maspeth Creek) Masperth had a floating boom blocking the way but i paddle the entire Newtown Creek. th-cam.com/video/HRCOcL448vs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y2wrpiCfXXXhhMFF

As a New Rochelle resident in Westchester county, Id love to see you kayak anywhere around here :)
Here's a link to my video at Pelham Bay Park. It's incredibly beautiful. You have to see the whole thing to appreciate ALL the views. That's the closest I get to New Rochelle for now. I have a few ideas for the future. Hope you'll stick around to the channel and check out some other videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.

In Texas we call them honkers!
Call the Canada Geese honkers?
Yes I guess that is a name my wife Ruth & I gave them! Their presence means fall is here is terrible hot Texas!
Brave man congratulations on getting monetized I grew up in those Gravesend projects we fished the creek and and played on the old coal barges that were grounded there it’s cool seeing the old sub keep up the good work can’t wait for the next adventure
Just posted a new video tonight. Hope you'll give it a watch. Thank you!
Added a 👍. Come back out to LI. There are some more places to canoe or kayak.
I love them. I'll be back.
Congrats on the TH-cam thing. The way you blew through those 2 chili dogs shoulda made 3 or 4!
That's called editing but I could have had 3 or 4. 🤣😂

Hey ya paddled right past where Ernest Hemingway had his boat Pilar built at Wheeler Boatyard which is where Stop n Shop stands now on Stilwell. They were a high end boat builder back in the early 1900s and had some military contracts also.
Wow, interesting! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the video. Got me inspired to explore my city’s creeks!
It's the best way to see the city through a different perspective. Thanks for watching.
@@TwoFeetOutdoors yeah man! Got a question, what camera are you using? If it’s a 360 camera the stitching is amazing!
@BBWildBlue yes, Insta360X3. Takes a bit of understanding how it works and the correct direction to point each lens but I'm very happy with it. Being able to shoot and reframe later is great.
@@TwoFeetOutdoors thank you for the info. I also have the X3 and now that I look back the stitching on mine isn’t bad at all. Definitely had to learn about how to hold it to get the best shot but yes, it’s great not having to worry so much while filming. Again, thanks for replying and I look forward to more vids. Congrats on the TH-cam promotion!
Dude you stood on top of Quester 1 and cooked chili dogs on a beach in Brooklyn. I’ve never subscribed to anyone so fast

Good job! Somehow you showed up in my youtube feed. I wish youtube would bring back hashtags or something because i get so much crap in my feed and new cool channels like yours rarely pop up. Have a good one!
also, it might not hurt to put the kayak link (amazon?) in description : )

The water way that splits staten island and new jersey, has a boat graveyard, it's by the Lowe's. I believe the water way is called ""Great Fresh Kills""
