Some recent pieces have shown Polunin's brilliant technique and intensity - ie Spear of Mars - but he also has a lyrical, very sensitive, musical side which he should not abandon. He is such a talented artist - very lyrical, too.
I agree! I hope to see him utilize that lyrical and sensitive side in some of his future works. He plans to perform (virus-restrictions permitting) "Romeo and Juliet" with Alina Cojocaru in February. So, that could hopefully bring out more of that side of him soon.
Light, joyful, perfectly in tune with his partner - so different from the same old dark, anguished, unsmiling performances he now gives. It would be nice to see Polunin join with a small group of friends and do more pieces like Other Dances.
I very much enjoy his lighter performances as well and hope to see him add more to his future repertoire. I know he did a special guest performance of Coppelia in October 2019, so he's not adverse to performing lighter dances. We shall see... And I'm glad you enjoyed!
I’m not familiar with very many ballet performances outside of what Sergei has been in (I’m new to watching ballet). So that’s very interesting to hear.
@@IndiaInk Dear India, thank you for your answer. There are two videos on YT Barishnykov with Makarova and Gelsey Kirkland. I prefer Kirkland in this becouse she is dancing more Robbins stile. Enjoy both.
Every dancer brings unique aspects to their dances. I enjoy Somova very much, and also enjoy seeing Sergei dance with many different partners, including Shapran. Каждый танцор приносит уникальные аспекты их танцы. Мне очень нравится Сомова, а также нравится видеть, как Сергей танцует со многими разными партнерами, включая Шапрана.

I’ve seen fragments of Baryshnikov and Kirklands’ but had planned to watch more of it at some point. (Too much to see and too little time!)
