    I think it’s crazy how you can watch videos by different TH-camrs about the same case but the presentation is so different. I didn’t realize that I’ve watched a video on this case till about halfway through just because of how differently you presented it. I love how you present things in a timeline of how things came about and how the public found out information, it makes you feel so much more involved in the case. I love your videos I rewatch them all the time!

    Is it possible that the voice mail wasn't a pocket call at all and Faith had subtly dialled this person as she knew she was in danger and wanted recorded evidence??

    • @AbbieGirl46
      @AbbieGirl46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      I doubt it, unless you know how to call someones voicemail box without making it obvious you're calling someone. And why wouldn't you call the police if you were able to call someone. Also if Faith was calling for evidence, phone calls are not recorded unless you have the system set up to do so. The phone call would not be strong evidence as it would only be the person who received the calls word, against the accused.

      I feel like she called someone she KNOWS wouldn't pick up at that time, but also someone who was on her speed dial or something. She wanted to have a recording of something that happened, but didn't want to outright call someone as she feared it would cause her even more trouble. So she called someone hoping they wouldn't pick up, but knew they would turn in the voicemail

      AbbieGirl46 - she probably just hit call not knowing who she was calling. I doubt they allowed her to make a call. So she couldn’t discreetly or correctly call 911. She was being attacked. She more than likely did know she made a call and that’s why she was saying help me. I doubt she was telling her attackers to help her. She would of been saying stop it.

    Corrina is guilty. Here is my theory:
    Corrina kept getting involved with violent men. Corrina couldve become jealous that faith didnt support these relationships as faith didnt seem to have trouble getting who she wanted. I think corrina and faith got into a drunken fight from rage over something stupid to do with corrinas relationship(s). (Lets be honest underage or not what college student goes and comes out of a club sober)
    In the voice mail you hear things like " my boyfriend" "our next victim" "rosie please" she was clearly fighting for her life. I think corrina started the fight but one or both of the men finished it and at that point Corrina wouldve been guilty due to fighting and witnessing what these men did. Which explains why shes been silent and refusing to be involved in the case. *if something like that happened to my bestfriend I would do anything and everything it took to find what happened*
    To me its extremley suspicious corrina would wake up and INSTANTLY be concerned about Faith. Especially if she was supposed to be in class and they went out the night before. Too much just points to Corrina knowing more than she plays off.

      You just made a really good point about Karena calling Faith. Karena called her to "come pick her up" yet Marisoul said she should have been in class...who calls someone when they are in class. NO ONE because you know they won't answer. So Karena made those calls to make it seem like she was out most of the night and not there when Faith was killed. Karena then involved Marisoul to help with an alibi. I wasn't convinced at first that Karena did it till the voicemail, that just proves it to me.

      It's more complicated than that. The original voicemail was apparently unintelligeble, it took a lot of work to clean it up and even then the expert couldn't decipher all of it. Personally, I didn't understand a single word. It would be very possible for the defense to bring their own expert who could interpret it completely differently, and they could bring up the timestamp to prove that it wasn't relevant to the murder. I suggest looking up the Crime Weekly podcast on this case, they interviewed the expert who worked on the audio.

I think at minimum Karena knows more than she's said thus far but I think the voicemail is somewhat a red herring in the case, at least when it comes to the theory that they are discussing a murder or actively murdering Faith during it.

    Friend claims to be sick so they go home. Same “sick” “Friend” knows the plan is in progress so she conveniently is picked up 2 hours later but before she did she sends text from her friends phone to Brandon and calls him from her own phone. Left the door unlocked too....for the killer. They probably ambushed her in her sleep. That roommate set her up and needed an alibi so that she conveniently “discovers” the body. I’m not sure why cops didn’t push harder on the roommate. Either they were threatened to be accomplices or they were involved. The friend that picked her up that morning is also in on it.

  • @tonydew440
    @tonydew440 6 ปีที่แล้ว +270

    I am 100% percent certain that the voice mail, was of Faith crying out for help. I believe that the voicemail was of her being killed, The 3 thumps the lady heard was the moment the murder was taking place. Her friend was there at the time of that sound and therefore knows exactly what happened. The way the body was found and the other factors(semen and note) was to take the attention away from the true murderer(s). The most alarming and damning part of this story is of the front door being left unlocked, again that is another way of trying to make the intruder story fit. After the issues with her ex partner she would have been custom to always making sure the front door was locked. It was staged to look like something else, I believe this murder will be solved and with out a doubt the murderer(s) have been very lucky up to this point. It does seem to be taken a very long time to solve considering the evidence, but I believe Law Enforcement are making sure they have a solid case and want to make sure they get all that were involved. Also just to finish off after watching the Breaking Homicide Episode of Faith, the 911 call was not by Corina but that of the other friend. Why Corina would not want to say she was the 911 caller is very strange, likewise why would the other friend not say it was her. Also every time the 911 operator would ask for the persons name that she was speaking to, the question was dodged on multiple occasions. Corina has acted very suspiciously around the death of her Best Friend in her apartment. I would say in my opinion something was said or happened at the club, for which Corina wanted to go home early and made Faith go back too. I do not believe Corina was ill but just said this to get Faith back. I would assume there was an issue with a boy that they may have both liked and Faith did something that made Corina mad. I reckon Corina confronted her at the apartment with the boy or boys in question and wanted to teach her a lesson. I then reckon when this happened it got out of hand and Faith was very scared and went for her phone and tried to call her friend for help. (I also was thinking that she would of phoned 911 but may not of thought it was going to get as bad as it did). I then believe after attacking her and beating her they realized that she was dead and they then panicked and covered it up. They cleaned the scene and then cleaned their hands and all the evidence they had on their clothes. The person or persons that did this were very confident that they could clean up with out no worries of being disturbed. Then they made the scene look like an intruder and a sexual assault. Corina then made plans to be picked up and made sure to leave the door unlocked, so it allowed the intrude story to fit. Corina then made sure to ring her other friend to contact Faith as she couldn't get in touch with her. Knowing what had happened, Corina wanted to make sure her friend drove her back to the apartment, so she could collaborate her story of her being with a boy and the door being left opened. Then as they entered the Apartment and found Faith, Corina made it seem like that was the first that she had known about it. Weather Corina wanted it to go as far as it did or not, I believe it was her actions that night that has resulted in Faith losing her life. I believe the neighbours statement of the thumps and the Voicemail are key to solving this case. I would be very surprised if Corina was innocent in this, also she as not wanted to go public about this. I think Corina Thinks speaking out or doing interviews she could end up saying something that would question her original story. On the other hand surely Corina would want justice for her best friend and would want whoever was responsible brought to justice. I would also like to thank you for the video you uploaded, been following you for a year now and you have the most in depth videos on this subject.

      I would only add a couple of things. In the 911 call, the caller had to locate a piece of mail in order to relay the address...yet Karina had lived there for two years? The text messages and calls to Karina's OTHER ex-boyfriend was either to enlist his aid in the murder/cover-up, OR she was trying to cast suspicion on him and may have been an additional reason for leaving the door unlocked...for HIM to come in and find the body. One of the people police always take a strong look at is whomever discovers the body. In addition, while it is true that people react differently under stress, it wasn't as if the neighbor observed Karina in a 'shocked' mental state only minutes after finding her best friend's body...the little 'B' was TEXTING! Finally, the male DNA that was found on Faith's body was also found...in fairly large quantities...was found in other areas of the apartment. At the very LEAST, Karina should have been able to point police in the direction of that individual. This case has always infuriated me. This girl managed to record her own murder. Two thirds of the actors are known. Yet nobody has been brought to justice. The police even know the ethnicity of the third person...yet, crickets. There, at the very least, was no reason for the police not to have released certain information to the family and to have kept them abreast of the investigation. Nobody in the family was under suspicion and they wouldn't have disclosed anything they were asked not to. Peace

    From the perspective of a girl who has been in an abusive and controlling relationship, even after it's over, it's hard to fully get out. That Erik guy might very well have blamed Faith for his failed relationship with Carina. I've noticed that abusive men tend to think that EVERY woman wants them, and if after the breakup, he started talking to Carina again, he could have planted blame in her mind, that it was Faith's fault that their relationship failed, that she encouraged the breakup because in Erik's insane mind, Faith was interested in him and wanted Carina out of the way. In Carina's dependent state where she wants out of an abusive relationship but still loves her abuser, she might have been looking back on the "good" times they had and embellished a lot of the details to herself while blaming her best friend for the failed relationship because Erik brainwashed her into believing it. Drinking (the bottle of rum was empty) could have made an already angry Carina extremely volatile and lonely. She might have called a familiar face for a "booty call" and when Erik arrived, a fight broke out because in the eyes of two mentally unstable people, Faith was to blame. They could have fought with her, killed her, and then grossly had sex afterward, which might explain why there was semen at the scene but no sexual assault on Faith's body. I still can't really piece together who the second man in the room was, or if there even was really a second man. Both male voices sound very similar to me, and in situations where there's more people involved than a killer couple, SOMEONE always talks.

    • @michelle75504
      @michelle75504 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I'm thinking the second guy in the room is Ty, and he went along with it because he also was mad and believed she hit on Erik, or had flirted with him, etc. Erik probably planted the seed to Corrina to get himself off the hook and place the blame on Faith, and this also planted the seed in Tys head that Faith had done something wrong. The poor girl probably didn't want anything to do with Erik, but people bought into his lies...

    I think that Karina, Eric and another male had something to do with this. I think the males were waiting for them to return from the club and that’s when they murdered her. Supposedly both girls were calling Brandon even though that was Karinas ex. I think Karina was calling him as she was looking for an alibi and she’d also text him off faiths phone after the murder to make it seem like she was still alive. Weird that he replied who is this? So when he didn’t reply she called Jordan which left her plenty of time to clean herself up. The next morning she was calling faith knowing she would get no answer so she called Marisol asking her to try and get hold of her. If a friend of mine wasn’t answering my calls I wouldn’t then immediately call another friend and ask that person to get hold of them for me so that seems odd. I also think she wanted support for when she got back to the apartment because she knew what she was going to be walking into and wanted Marisol to be the first to find her. I think faith had been trying to call for help when she left that voicemail. You have a brilliant way of covering these cases to include all details. Great work,I love watching x

    Before I watch the video I just want to hop down here to say thank you. I try to thank everyone that I see cover Faith's case because I know the personal impact it has on this community. I was the same age as Faith, a freshman in college, when I heard of her death. I was attending a different local school but I had many friends at UNC who were thoroughly shaken by what happened. It truly impacted the community in a profound way. Chapel Hill has always been a sleepy little town, even sleepier when the students leave for the summer, truly this kind of crime just doesn't happen here regularly. After her death, I always remembered Faith but moved on in life until the last couple of years, when I started working at UNC (the university). I worked closely with a program that Faith herself was involved in her freshman year, and I worked with the very staff that had known Faith deeply during that time, the staff that still had yearly dinners with her family and friends to keep her memory alive. I became close friends with a woman that was also in Faith's program and was close friends with her while they were students, up until her death. The staff and friends that still regularly give interviews to documentaries to try and keep her story alive. I know the person whose phone that voicemail was left on closely. This whole tragedy has had such a profound impact on the course of their lives. It sounds silly but it was not until I met these people that I had the profound realization that these cases that I had always had a pet interest in were real people, with families, friends, and communities that missed them. Faith is truly not forgotten here, but we work hard to keep her memory alive, and to find justice for her family and friends. Thank you Danelle, not only for covering this case, but for also taking such time and care to present this story as thoroughly and fairly as possible.

      the whole “handwriting” thing is a little ridiculous to me. I can write in like 15 different “fonts” if I wanted to. & if I’m at a crime scene, i’m definitely not gonna use my everyday handwriting. I always thought that was something to note when it comes to handwriting analysis.

    I think what happened is, after Eric could no longer manipulate Corrina, he thought that Faith influenced Corrina's decision to leave him and keep him away, so he was angry at Faith. Then he told Corrina some made up story that Faith was trying to "mess with him" and since Eric knew how to manipulate Corrina, he told her in a way that she believed him. Then I think both of them were talking about Faith and with his influence, they confronted and attacked her after the club somewhere. I think it went too far and she died, so they set up the murder scene (hitting her w the bottle to cause blood splatter, then the sheet, etc.) Corrina then reached out to Marisol who had no idea what happened to say Faith wasn't answering her, they went back to the apartment to "find" her, but Corrina knew the whole time (hence the calm texting). I think the note was a rushed afterthought bc a planned note would be on real paper.

    I think the text messages to Brandon by “Faith” were written by Karina. Karina is cementing her alibi by making phone calls to Brandon while “Faith” (who is “alive”) is texting him. Did Faith ever text someone else’s flame like that? Bet not. “Faith’s” text/e-mail to Ty was written by Karina too. Karina was not privy to Faith’s confusion on her relationship to Ty. This pulls Ty into the crime scene and deflects from the true killers. Her father was correct in expressing doubts Faith wrote the message. LE can compare e-mails and text messages written by Karina and Faith and determine who wrote the messages. The recorded call was not at the club but captured the murder. Take the found DNA and apply the GSK protocol and solve this case. The PI can collect DNA samples of the 10 most likely suspects. Karina’s friend accompanied Karina to the scene strengthen Karina’s alibi. Suspects: Karina, Eric, a second male known by one or both of them. The recorded message does not lie. What river is nearby? This was very planned. I think the note was an attempt to frame Ty.

      Any defense attorney can rip the text theory to shreds - we can speculate and simplify things but in the actual world of these events - attorneys challenge authenticity and it can't always be proven - you can KNOW someone did something but in court you beyond doubt have to PROVE they did it - you can't really prove she wrote those texts nor didnt - comparing their emails and texts is something an expert has to do and even then - a good defense attorney can rip it to shreds - heck I can challenge authenticity and create reasonable doubt and I am not an attorney

So she might've regularly taken the bus to get to class because it was easier to get on campus without a car.

    I will also note that part of the time I was in undergrad I lived close enough to bike/bus and didn't take my car to campus because it cost SO MUCH to buy a parking permit and the parking lots were also far away from all of my class buildings... and you never knew if you would find a good spot or not. You had to ride a bus to your classes from the parking lot anyway, so it's cheaper to ride the free campus buses from home.
    Anyway, Karina definitely seems very suspicious to me. She was Faith's best friend but didn't call 911 and won't speak about her death?? Also isn't friends with Marisol anymore? Also seems like Karina left the apartment in order to have an alibi for the rest of the night. Faith being found with her T-shirt covering her head and her body kind of wrapped a little could also point to someone close to her (like her best friend) murdering her and feeling some guilt afterward (not wanting to see her). Eric seemed pretty obsessed with Karina, so I wouldn't be surprised he would show up to help her "scare"/hurt Faith if she asked him to.
    Very weird case. I hope it's all figured out soon.

Looks like the friend stored it into Faith's phone and texted him after she murdered her to make it look like she was alive at that time. It’s a subconscious move that the murderer doesn’t want to be the only one to “find” the body. I know i'm probably reaching from a small detail, so someone please correct me if this is a reflection of the people i'm around, and you've had a different experience. But I'm 23, and I have rarely ever heard anyone regularly use "any how", especially younger people. People i've been around usually say anyways. So, that stuck out to me in the 911 call, and I just wonder if "anyhow" was normally used by her, and the people she was around or if there was someone specifically who used it frequently instead of "anyways". Again, small detail and probably just my experience, but that sounded so weird to me.

    Maybe some people will now understand how toxic the internet community has been about this case since the beginning, accusing people of murder without any evidence nor reason for it(hey, it's not like they're real people right?) just to fit their narrative.
    I never believed that her roommate or her other friends did it, and, I'm sorry, but moving away and not giving interviews after such a traumatizing experience is not suspicious and it's not an admission of guilt. Moreover, they also shared a key to the apartment(which was owned by Karena) and she was supposed to be picked up by Faith in the morning so she left the door unlocked(in hindsight big mistake of course) and didn't take the key with her, she didn't leave the door open so that her boyfriend(or someone else) could rape and murder her roommate.
    Finally we have justice for this poor girl, let's please stop spreading hate and accusations towards people who have been scarred for life by this horrible experience.

      @@momofagladiator2014 Well they arrested someone after 9 years of not even naming a suspect, and they arrested the guy with his DNA all over the crime scene and the victim's body so everything seem to suggest they finally caught the killer, though until trial begins we won't really know the details of how it happened.

      Why did this thread remind me of the show Tru calling? She’s not a detective or a fly on the wall. Just uses her “super power” and goes back in time too save people from untimely deaths by altering fate. Good show, sad there’s only 2 seasons tho. Eliza Dushku is such a good actress and sooo pretty. Her acting on Dollhouse is my favorite.

    I am going to mention my theory here so sorry in advance if this is really long.
    I know for a fact Karina (or however her name is spelt) and Erik did it but I am not sure about the second guy.
    Concerning the note, I am gonna be real, that is a female. Females write with a little bit of flow to their writing. Males don’t. So, I am willing to bet Karina wrote that. Especially when it is said in the voicemail, “I already figured that out!” Referring to the “I’m not stupid.” Part in the note. Also referring to the “Jealous” part of the letter it could be Karina asking Faith if she was jealous of her relationships which is then referring to the part of the voicemail “You want to mess around with my boyfriend.” From Karina.
    Hearing that voicemail gave me chills because that is definitely a recording of Faith’s murder.

      I know several men ("manly" men), who would definitely discredit your handwriting hypothesis. And the writing is not flowing.

      I think some pieces of the voicemail are absolutely clear enough to make out what is being said..I haven't decided if it was in the club or while they killed Faith..to be completely honest I think it's rather obvious Karina was involved if not THE killer.

    This case really bothered me. Just like the Kenika Jenkins case. It bothered me mentally. I have watched so many murder stories. So it takes A LOT to upset me or scare me or make me feel uncomfortable. but this story and Kenikas story really made me feel uneasy. It radiates demonic energy. I pray this poor girl and her family get justice very soon. I am also Native American and I know how ruthless native girls can become if they are involved in a physical altercation. In my opinion I think a fight started and it went way too far.

      Gina Lienn I completely agree. If I notice something off, I will let me friend/relative know that they can come to me and I will help them get help. But, I won't get directly involved, because I've seen for myself what can happen. I've seen women turn on their friend that literally saved their life from an abusive partner. Yet, the partner convinces them to become absolutely cruel to the friend out of spite.

    34:41 in my oppion the DNA profile sort of looks like the suspect Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares who the police announced they have charged with first degree murder. Back On September 16th 2021 when the Durham police announced they had finally had a lead suspect in the cold case in regards to the the murder of Faith Hedgepeth. Keeping in mind he's 28 now and would have been a few years younger in this photo versus the mugshot. So the beard and hairline is a bit off but beyond that I think it looks pretty spot on.
