@@desertgirl3374 I really wish that there was a culture where the idea of a man in his early 20's hanging around teenage girls wasnt seen as a prize to be had by those girls but as what it is which is predatory and creepy behaviour. I have a daughter and I will drill it into her that if she is a teenager, any person who is not a teenager (boy or girl because women can groom too) is strictly off limits and is to be seen as a threat. True, these people can drive you around, buy you things and it feels sophisticated and cool but there is always a price. We need to start seeing 20+ males as men and not in their extended teen years where they get to be excused for this kind of behaviour. We all need to start calling it out for what it is and stop excusing this crap.

Oh hell yes! I remember wanting to slap the shit out of my little sister when I was in uni and she was maybe 16, hanging around older guys in bands, and flirting with the guys at the co-op where I lived when she came to visit. She was lucky, and ended up with the one older guy who was actually a good one, and they were equally good for each other for around 10 yrs, pushing each other on to get degrees and careers. But they were the exception to the number of times I've seen that situation go tragically wrong, and it's always the girl who gets hurt...

When you're a teen you think you're mature and feel invincible. I'm in my 20s now, and I would NEVER hang out with teens unless I have a specific reason (i.e. family members). I would NEVER go out of my way to befriend, much less give drugs to, or date teens. Plus I feel I am comfortable being around them. Like when you're in a room with old people and you're the only young one. Same feeling. That's why I will never trust men and women who make their friend circles full of younger people. Susses me out. Why don't you get friends your age? Do they see a problem that naive teens don't? lol

However, as someone who grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, I am appalled that the driver wouldn't wait until they say the passenger go inside or, at the very least, meet another person. I remember when this case was happening, it really hit hard for me. Kayla and I are the exact same age, and she went missing right before our first year of high school. At the time, my friends and I really related to some of the details in her story- we also snuck out, lied to our parents to go to parties, smoked weed with 20something year old men when we were 14 and 15 years old. I distinctly remember having serious conversations with my friends at the time about being more careful, and how scary it is to think that if you lie to your parents about your whereabouts and something happens to you, they'll have no idea where to look. It really did change a lot of our risky behavior at the time, and I'm grateful for that. I hope Kayla and her family get the justice they deserve.

I can't say I agree with you saying they were contacting everyone they could, that there's something wrong with people giving them hell. As a mother myself, I understand some people do not see it necessary for their kid to have a phone.

Thank you so much for talking about this story. She went missing from my hometown and is the same age as my siblings. It has bothered me every day since I last heard of her disappearance. I have driven past the place she was supposedly dropped off hundreds of times. I always wonder where she is and it is haunting. I hate the fact that there are people who must know what happened to her and they are just walking around like it is nothing. I really pray there is a resolution for her family and those of us in Wausau who always wonder...

For the cadaver dogs finding something that many times... It can't be a coincidence, that looks like some kind of pattern. Knowing that her father died without a clue of what happened to her just breaks my heart. I hope something comes up soon for her family to have some sort of comfort :(

    • @girlinabox1943
      @girlinabox1943 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It can be a coincidence. Cadaver dogs hit on the scent of cadaver. Not the scent of a specific persons cadaver scent. Was his car a used car? Maybe the original owner had a heart attack in the car, it someone ODd in it. How many people work at the potato farm? Anyone who works there could have transferred the scent of cadaver on them if they hugged their dying grandmother as she died or wore a used shirt that went to Goodwill after a person died in their home where the scent got on the shirt. Soil could have been transferred from an area that a person died on. Maybe his uncle died in his house in 1997 and that's what cadaver the fog hit on in the home. Also, cadaver dogs are not infallible and they can't say anything other than I smell cadaver. No matter how much cadaver scent there is, they can pick up miniscule amounts if cadaver scent. The wind or dust or litter might blow scent from one area to the next. And sometimes they are just mistaking or getting cues from the handler to hit a certain area where there is no scent at all. Cadaver (and scent) dogs want to please their handler so if they sense the handler gives off that he or she wants a hit the dog may signal when nothing is there.

@@girlinabox1943 -Sure it could be mere coincidence that Kevin is a cadaver magnet. You're right. Or chances are he'd have been arrested on those hits. Still though, all the hits for the dogs leading to the same guy, are very suspicious to say the least.

    • @Kyomiibrown

raccoon in a box Too far fetched, and clutching at straws. The odds of 3 hits in 3 locations linking the same man who also happens to the last person to see her not being involved in her disappearance is extremely unlikely. Additionally, and statistically, it is always the last person to see the missing person in such cases and no matter how much that person denies their involvement, it’s confirmed once the case is solved. As far as I am aware, (I research a lot of crime) there isn’t a case out there were cadaver dogs hit three times in three places linked heavily to the last person who saw the missing person where that person was innocent, and that’s how rare it would be. I don’t think there is even a case with two hits, never mind three! Taking the totality of all the information together with the hits and that he was the last person to see her, the chances of it being someone else is the same chance of me living until I am 120.

Through no fault of her own she had so much going on in her life she probably did not pay attention to that feeling we get in the pit of our stomach until it was too late.

actressbrookesingleton I agree. Unfortunately, with a chronically ill father and separated parents this sometimes happens. But teens need a stable living situation and at least one person to know where they are at all times. I think we will unfortunately see more of this as kids from single parent homes float back and forth between two parents homes - especially when communication between divorced parents is not great - can leave a lot of gaps for a teenager to fall through! So sad.

Thank you so much for covering this case Danielle!! I live near by and it is hardly talked about around here except one poster that’s up. I’ve always felt very passionate about this case, and I have never given up hope that someday her poor mother can have closure. It truly disturbs me knowing her body is possibly very close to me. Im so happy this case is finally getting the coverage it should have had since day one! Thank you again, it truly made my day to see you post this!

I remember seeing the video and immediately remembering Kayla.. I was relieved when it came out to be a “project” those people were doing but good grief. What a shock... they got the reaction they wanted, but was released at the wrong time! (Or maybe they did that on purpose?) 😒
Kayla’s story is so frustrating and intriguing.. there’s only SO MANY people that can be involved.. someone knows something within her friends group.. at least that’s how I feel.
Thanks again for another wonderful video and bringing her name back to light. ❤️

That's really thorough in itself, and I'm glad you brought it up because that's how I originally heard about this case.

They shouldn’t have a “balloon release” it’s really not good for the environment. I’m sure they could do something else besides that. Maybe a fund raiser for a cash reward? Idk something else tho

I really wish that it was more common for kids to check in. There are too many cases where it’s normal for teens to be gone for days without their parents knowing. And that being their normal routine either parents wait too long to realize they are missing or police don’t take it seriously. It’s very sad.

Sadly, due to both parents’ obvious poverty & inability to provide a stable home for their kids, this poor girl was bouncing around every night not knowing from day to day where she was going to sleep. A cot in a hallway is no way to take care of a minor child. So sad.

If there's no proof that Kevin made the trip to Warsaw he could have been committing the crime and covering up during that time. That would explain the cadaver dog hitting his property, car, and job. I think Miguel may have been dealing and that's why he had this extra phone that was rarely used that he wanted to hide from authorities.

  • @missmermade9331

I am so sorry for her family. I think that unfortunately this can never be solved unless Kevin confesses and I don't think he will.
Also, saying that the filmmakers behind Hi Walter are tasteless and should not have made the video is not in any way right and it makes me angry. They didn't want to be involved in this case so they deserve to be left alone and create whatever content they want. Otherwise CSI and all that stuff on TV should not be produced either. Just saying because that really made me so sad, that this was said

  • @honestinsincerity2270

Wait, if the alibi is based on the fact that Kevin supposedly dropped her off at the abandoned house why the hell would that matter at all?? Wouldn't he just be lying about either dropping her off to begin with or the time he dropped her off? Not to mention it's his mother giving the alibi so it's paper thin even if they can confirm she was dropped off at the abandoned house by someone.

  • @kaleibieber1

This is why it’s so important to give your kids phones!!! She was 15 going on 16 and didn’t have a phone? And her parents knew she went over to friends houses and parties all the time and didn’t think to give her a way of contact? Smh.
