Thank you for post Ahna! Purple/indigo can go with a myriad of colors and here are some great options to look at - go green for a softened, spa effect in the room; look at oranges for a high-contrast burst of color; or if you prefer a neutral base, both warm and cool grays look great against the purple/indigo combination.
Never paint the sample on the wall people. The blue tape will leave a ridge when you pull the tape off that will telegraph thru any new paint layer. Plus it will have to be painted over by primer. And if you get distracted and don't paint, your stuck with those paint squares for months. Paint it on poster board and move the sample around the room.
Area rugs and artwork are great accessories to pull all the colors in the room together as well. It’s ok to purchase the furnishings first, however, have the full color palette with you when choosing the furniture by taking color chips from the paint store and go shopping with them. This way, if you decide on a beige sofa, you’ll know which shade of beige looks best. Or, if you’re looking at accessories, you’ll purchase the right shade of light blue or fuchsia.
We love Dunn Edwards :) We are Painters in Riverside CA. We recently have been helping homeowners with color picking and it gets overwhelming because you want to get it right. Thanks for the great vid.
For your dining room there are several great options to pair with blue tiles. Option 1 - go with a warm neutral color such as DE6128 Sand Dune, DE6142 Floating Feather, DE6149 Cream Washed, or DE6191 Exclusive Ivory. Option 2 - if the blue tiles are Tuscan or French inspired as well as your architecture, yellows are great to pair with blue. Three options are DE6164 Canary Island, DEC728 Madera, or DEC742 Cameo.
Hi Dawn - a great start to putting a room together is to have a general color palette in mind for all the items in the room. For example, choose 3-5 colors within a room that you want - light blues, sandy beige, white, and a shot of fuchsia. Then take these colors and pull them through the room - light blue walls with 1 wall accented fuchsia, white trim color and sandy beige for the sofa, house ware accessories in white, light blue and fuchsia.
When looking at colors for your bedroom to make it feel warm and cozy, look at warm neutrals to create warmth in the room. Here are some warm, soft colors to test against the current furnishings, artwork, rug and lighting in your bedroom. Also, these colors will work with a variety of bedding choices should you want to change out your bedding over time. DE6192 Nomadic Taupe, DE6199 Pale Beach, DE6206 Desert Suede, DE6129 Rustic Taupe, and DEC716 Stonish Beige. Happy painting!
And as a fun twist, add a pop of hot pink paint as an accent wall. Test DE5069 Cherry Hill, DE5048 Pink Punch or DE5083 Deep Hibiscus against your hot pink décor to see which works best. Happy painting!
+Olivia Paz thanks! My two choices are now NEON green and a lighter yellow! And if I get neon green my choices for my furniture and stuff like that will be white and neon and if I get yellow it will be yellow and white!
I do like some light, natural colors such as butter, sky and light raspberry but I absolutely love 3 of my very favorite color shades ever: 1. Bright/lemon yellow 2. Bright purple/electric indigo 3. Bright turquoise/neon aqua 💛💜🍹
With the color combination of hot pink, black and white furnishings and décor, here are a couple of directions. One, if you want to keep your walls white, we suggest a cool white to better complement your color scheme. Here are 3 to try - DEW379 Igloo, DEW380 White or DEW383 Cool December. Another option is to paint a light neutral backdrop, here are 3 colors to try - DE6312 Fine Grain, DE6220 Porous Stone & DE6227 Muslin.
OMG, I am about to choose my room color and the colors I can think in are some sort of a light lavendish color, a yellowish white somewhere near bamboo or sandish color and a light green. I like the idea of feeling springy vibes out in the room awhile still having a bit of a summery tropical feeling. I am soooo confused!
When choosing your dining room area rug, suggest looking at multicolored rugs with a warm neutral background. Also suggest pulling in the blue from the tiles and this should be one of the main colors in the area rug. A last suggestion is looking at the architecture of your home and the flooring already in your dining room. Many rug companies section off rugs by style so for example, if you have a Spanish-style home, review that collection first to capture the full breadth of styles and colors.
I'm redecorating my room cause I just turned 13 and I want a better room and I cannot decide between either a light or dark color so this video really helped I want my room to be a place where my friends can hang out so I think I will go with a bright colot
And...Option 3 - go with a cool neutral color for a coastal vibe. Three options are DE6226 Foggy Day, DEC786 Miner’s Dust or DE6296 Sculptural Silver. Lastly, if the blue tiles and architecture are Spanish-inspired, go bold with terracotta or orange walls. Try DE6103 Copper Lake, DE5256 Soft Leather, or DE5214 Tawny Amber. Happy painting!
We have this big hall which we will be using for dining and living room, our living room has brick walls on two sides of the room , for that I bought Classic Liberty Red (kind of brown with reddish undertone I think).. an antique (light brown) for one biggest side of the wall and for one wall in the dining, I chose orange. (all from dulux) .. In total using 3 colours. Is it going to look good all together? ..I can always buy new paint and use the old fr other rooms.. if you can give some suggestions
I have never been a purple person, until now. I'd love to do my master bedroom and master bath, in a medium dusty, grey on the wall where my bed sits, between 2 windows. The other 3 walls in a brown/grey, not too dark. Right now it's just a thought because my home is only 2 years old and our bed & bathroom is in taupe with burnt orange and navy blue accents. I have a lot of money invested in art and accents so by the time I'm ready to do a complete change I'll probably be into a different color scheme than purple. Lol
I got to say this..at 1:25 that is the exact color I just painted my bathroom, the issue is that I'd decided hours later I decided I hate it, and never intended to paint it that color, though I did two coats and it never occured to me that it was LIGHT BLUE WITH A SLIGHT GREY TONE. How did I end up with that color, if it was not what I wanted? I'd taken a rug to H.D, had them color match it using the computer, they gave me a sample..I painted a couple 1' x 1' sections and couldn't belive how dark it was. So, (short version)..I bought a gallon of ultra white, dumped in 2, than another 8 oz sample of that color. But instead of it being the same color (a greyish tourquise)..it turned it light blue.. Am I insane or is it really this hard to pick a color, like the color, live with the color? The color sample used a medium base, maybe switching from medium base to the ultra white base is why it turned out such a different color tone? I think the best thing I can do is take the rug, and let one of the employees help me pick a new color off the charts (the color of the rug but a lighter tone). I had allready tried to do it by eye and also ended up with it "too light blue"..and yes, did it two coats before realizing what I'd done. I have no problem deciding if I like the color ONCE IT IS DONE, but the problem is trying to figure out what color I'd like..the chart is part of the problem too, the samples are only about 1/2" x 1/2" (Behr). I might add that light blue is my least favorite color, I think it dates back to my late teens and my Dad would not let me paint my bedroom which was light blue. I eventually was allowed to and it that made me feel so much better and I like the new color, actually put me in a better mood everytime I entered the room, which was now a simple cream color and not semi-gloss like before but eggshell. My summary, your not crazy if you'd had similar problems, but you need to figure out what you want before you paint it.
Can you change the color of a living room set, I thought I was buying a living room set to match my carpet on my floor’ witch is between red& burgundy, when I got the when I got it home I found that it was brown, the store lighting was very low, it maid the furniture look a difference color in the store. Can I change the color.
Mikalah Raine I know this is super late but olive green gives me more boho vibes instead of vintage. If you're going for vintage, I would use a medium/light gray and have a medium/muted red statement wall. For decor, I would keep the colors centered around white, black and red. On the statement wall I would use fairy lights at the top of the wall to brighten it up, and then have a center piece of decor for the middle of the wall to make it stand out even more. I'd also want to get fun with the pillows and have a few with some cute designs, like a white pillow with some old black glasses in the middle as the design. You can totally DIY some if you can't find the ones you like. If you could find a cute desk for your room, you could also get a vintage/wooden style typewriter for desk decor. It would help to add a more vintage feeling to the room while also keeping it modern, and away from the rustic feeling. I know this isn't what EVERYBODY would want, it's just what first came to my mind. I hope you find it somewhat helpful!
Bts Lover 24/7 good luck! Oh and also as soon as posible i'm going to repaint my bedroom get new bed, table, desk and everything and buy new room decor and make some diy room decors and i'm so happy
Well, as of now we are very confused and have hard time thinking what to paint on the walls and ceilings... and we just focus first on what is the elders favorite color (grandma and grandpa), since it is an old type/design of house...so, we gone to blue(daughter's fav color), green(grandpa), orange(grandma)... and the house has sentimental value, that's why grandma choose green and orange combination on their room😅 now, how we will do that now?
Nice ideas, Noelle. If you would be interested in an interior design consultation on a California ranch house in Woodland Hills (out of your area, I know), please let me know. I'm plugging away on all the creative decisions on my recently-purchased 1961 house, but could probably use some professional advice!
i have a palette picked out for my home but idk WHERE to put all of them!! please help. ..i have chosen lime, plum, aqua, dark teal, a pale gray and a very dark (almost black) gray. i want to put the aqua and plum in the dining room. the lime and teal in the kitchen. and the grays in the rest of the house...will that look too busy? :/
Okay I need some help I am moving to a cold climate and I like bright colors and colorful colors, I have wall decorations that is nice and colorful but I can’t find a paint that is going to match my colorful decorations I was thinking white but I am scared it will be to bright do you have any suggestions?

i was wondering what color should a paint my bedroom i spend most of my time in it so i would like it to feel warm and cosy though i don't think cream is enough it may be to plain! whats your top advice?
There are soooo many different grey and beige shades. I don‘t just don’t know what to choose😭😩. Any tipps? And does anyone with a cool grey room, think it‘s to “cold“
Swiss Coffee DEW341 is one of our most popular whites and it looks great in almost any room. Its warm hue would probably look good with the oak finishes in your house. We suggest calling your local Dunn-Edwards store and scheduling a FREE color consultation.
Hi! I might be redoing my room! I am only 11, so I want my room to be a warm color. Like yellow! Or neon green! I also like greyish bluish! I also am trying to find a theme! I like Gold,Silver, and white! Could you give me any suggestions? Thanks!
I had a yellow room when I was younger, when the sun was out the room looked soo bright, I really enjoyed it. but when I got older I moved into my sisters room and it was a pale green. It was much calmer and earthier and more mature. since you're 11 I say have fun with it and have a bright colour like yellow, red, purple, blue or whatever colour speaks to you
I'm redoing one of the walls in my room, and I really don't have any idea what color to paint it. One if my walls is a deep blue with yellowish white stars painted on. Another wall is chalkboard, (it's my art wall) and the other wall is a big map. (I love to travel and that's how I keep up with the places I have been to.) So I have no I DEA what color that I could put with that. Any suggestions! :/
I think I’m going to paint all of my walls grey and have one wall black... my parents won’t let me to white😒 then I’m going to have yellow accent items around the room and yellow bedding. I will have black furniture (desk, bookcase, bed) and maybe a white comfy chair... idk I’m terrible at this
Im repainting my dining room but I'm not sure which color is best. I have blue tile and on the lighting is light. What are some good color that goes with blue tiles?
I am re-decorating my room, new furniture and all. at the local ( bunnings) there are all different types of paint to choose from. But I do not know what my furniture will look like. do I buy the furniture fist? I was thinking of light blue, violet purple, or a nice dark shade of pink! please help
SHE SAYS THIS: CHOOSE WARMER DARKER COLORS IN COLD CLIMATE AREAS (areas that have more cold months during the year than hot months) & CHOOSE LIGHTER COOLER COLORS IN WARM CLIMATE AREAS (areas that have more warm months during the year than cold months). This is because the warmer darker colors will absorb & retain heat better in cold weather while the lighter cooler colors will not absorb & give off the heat inside the house in warm climate areas, keeping it cooler inside.
great now i know what color to pick in my sims wall ^^
Trollolol lol
Trollolol haha! Me too.. i play sims

Thanks! This helped alot! Now i know what colours to choose for my bedroom
If I have brown furniture in my bedroom what color should I paint the walls? Would gray go?
Helpful video, thank you, and Noelle Parks is very attractive!

Sound advice. I really liked what you said. Very informative.
What is the name of that cool color blue in 1:26 of the video??
I want kind of a vintage look to my bedroom, I was thinking a very light olive color but do you have any other suggestions?
Mikalah Raine dusty pink is a pretty vintage color
Mikalah Raine I know this is super late but olive green gives me more boho vibes instead of vintage. If you're going for vintage, I would use a medium/light gray and have a medium/muted red statement wall. For decor, I would keep the colors centered around white, black and red. It would help to add a more vintage feeling to the room while also keeping it modern, and away from the rustic feeling. I know this isn't what EVERYBODY would want, it's just what first came to my mind. I hope you find it somewhat helpful!

Okay I need some help I am moving to a cold climate and I like bright colors and colorful colors, I have wall decorations that is nice and colorful but I can’t find a paint that is going to match my colorful decorations I was thinking white but I am scared it will be to bright do you have any suggestions?
Northern climates have cooler, bluer natural lighting so warm whites will add balance. Our most popular warm white is Swiss Coffee DEW341.
I'm unfamiliar with this brand but the video helped me, thank you!
Dunnedwards is on the west coast . I have been using for 18 years

Hello, and thanks for this helpful video. Do you always have to paint primer over an existing color before repainting for great results?
Yes, we recommend a primer and paint combo for true color and best results.
@@DunnEdwardsPaints Okay! Thanks for responding, truly appreciate it.
If you use a quality paint like Sherwin Williams Duration or Benjamin Moore Regal Select, you should get by with just 2 coats of paint
Thank you for the video! Very informative and Noelle was definitely easy on the eyes! ;-)

Great presentation!
My room is very small but I'm planning to paint it light pink. If that's a bad idea, do you have any other suggestions??
That's a great idea! Light pink walls will look great especially with white furniture. Take a look at Sentimental Pink DEW399 or Bashful DE5000.
Hello guys. What would you suggest for my room? I'm planning on making it both a studio and bedroom. Thanks!
White is always a safe color - Cool December DEW383 or Swiss Coffee DEW341. What color family were you thinking?
There are soooo many different grey and beige shades. I don‘t just don’t know what to choose😭😩. Any tipps? And does anyone with a cool grey room, think it‘s to “cold“
what color goes well with light gray furniture
It depends on your personal style but for the trendy monochromatic look try Miner's Dust DEC786.
Great video - to help anyone.
Very nice presentation and great content too, kudos :)
Hi, I have oak windows doors and furniture in my living room. And the flooring is white coloured tiles. which wall color look good for the walls?
Swiss Coffee DEW341 is one of our most popular whites and it looks great in almost any room. Its warm hue would probably look good with the oak finishes in your house. We suggest calling your local Dunn-Edwards store and scheduling a FREE color consultation.
Thank you
what color would be right with wooden floor ceiling and half wooden walls (all with natural color)
+Purana Paapi So you'd prefer a natural color paint? A white or a warm neutral?

It was much calmer and earthier and more mature. since you're 11 I say have fun with it and have a bright colour like yellow, red, purple, blue or whatever colour speaks to you
I like her voice!! Nice explanation

Another wall is chalkboard, (it's my art wall) and the other wall is a big map. (I love to travel and that's how I keep up with the places I have been to.) So I have no I DEA what color that I could put with that. Any suggestions! :/
