I like the West Side Story soundtrack. Great job. My Mom taught Theater Workshop at Bryant HS in those years.

Thomas, amazing and agreed so much better with names. I am still honored to have made it in and as we get "older" I get much more nostalgic. Not sure if its perception or age, but life seemed so much simpler then...thanks for all the work that it took to pull this together [again!]
side note - 29:28 is Lino and Gina [Vulcano] :)

Thanks Tom, I probably ran into you at some point back in the 70's or 80's in Astoria. I knew the Grippo's, the Libby's, the Baranovics, the Merendino's, Jerry Jones, Peter Mack, Ish and Louie Burnell. We use to call Mike Rossini(Roach) back then. Rickey Ryan was my best friend and my son's godfather. I believe the one Danny 23:33, is actually Mike Baranovics. I also see a Maryanne Coffrini, I had a girlfriend in the 6th grade Donna Coffrini. Any relation? I also know most of the guys from the Chauncy's team. Mickey and Vinnie Pickford, Jimmy Serventi, Ray Connelly. I use to work at the Triboro beer and beverage ice company in the 60's. I felt like I was back in the 70's. I would love to connect with some of these people or yourself as it would be great fun to reminisce. Anyway thanks for the incredible video and God bless you. My name is Bob Stewart and we lived on Steinway between Broadway and 34th ave. Everyone use to call it the "Big Alley".

I know all of them. They might be twins or at least sister. I get them confused lol. I knew Peggy more because she bartended at Sals Dugout. That's not Mike. I knew Mike. That's Frank Postilione's cousin Danny. I know that building. Jerry passed last year.

I am so surprised. I did know Darlene Potochnik and her whole family. I love that the background music is from West Side Story which I actually saw on Steinway St. when we lived in the Woodside Houses. which was right on the border of Astoria and Woodside.

when I left the projects for Flusing, and moved back to Astoria twice that I can think of. Didn;t really expect no anyone in that video. technically I did not grow up in Astoria. and I only went to PS 10 for 6 months.

I remember distinctly in high school senior year1987 saying 'this is it' - not just because of graduation but for the real NYC - we were the last of the 1960's born babies. I left NYC late 1988 and felt a dark cloud looming over it as if a timeline was about to shift. I came back in 1990 and it was already starting to feel like a shell of its former self. The 90's was the last hurrah but it was changing fast as corporate took over. Now every block looks the same.... same stores. no personality. Early GENX born in the 1960's was the last great generation. We knew how to have fun! People are robots now. No original thought. Millenials & Gen Z all dress like us & we did everything on instinct not by listening to "influencers".

agree with most of this however the early 70s born genx did keep the area cool thru the early to mid 90s. after that, it was done. transients.

@@magamaga1827 1972 was the end of Gen-X -beginning of the millennials - a.k.a x- ennial -/ a.k.a GenY. Going to High school in the 80's was a totally different experience than going to high school in the 90's. At least from my perspective it was. In comparison to the 2000's - the 90's were awesome. But not compared to the excitement of the 1980's. Especially in NYC. I felt there was a massive shift from late 1988 - early 1990. Something was off.
