Since I got back from MATS in Louisville I have been getting more and more requests like yours. Once I get done building my N14 Celect, Celect Plus, DDEC V, ISX CM570, ISX EGR CM870, and ISX EGR DFP CM871, upgrades then maybe I'll be able to build a testing simulator for another company or more likely I'd sell them one of my old retired ones. Also guys call me and want to buy batteries from me or want to find out where I am getting them. I'll admit when I first started changing the batteries in these I thought it would be easy too until I found out the hard way that these batteries don't always fail of natural causes. Sometimes the battery was killed by a board short to case ground for a 12 volt supply trace. So guess what happens when you solder a fully charged lithium battery to a shorted RTC circuit. You get a fire. Or if your lucky lots of acid all over the board. Your first thought might be to take it out on the guy who sold you that battery. That guy isn't going to be me. If by chance you believe a dead RTC battery is causing your DDEC not to start. Look elsewhere. A dead RTC battery will never prevent a DDEC from starting the engine unless the battery burned the board or leaked acid on the board.

Where you find battery
You get OEM batteries from the OEM. It also helps if you buy in bulk like I do and are a dealer.

Hi..very nice of you, to explain in details. I have a 2007 western star , Detroit 14L. It’s cranking well but won’t start and voltage gauge always shows 0. It’s been sitting for few weeks in cold weather, can be the ECU faulty? If yes how much to reman, such a unit? Thx much .
