    I picked up that PNW dropper as soon as it was available. Modern silver components are so hard to find: even when a manufacturer makes them, the suppliers in Canada so rarely carry them.

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Ah man, yup! I’ve sucked up duty charges a few times because I’m a sucker for a nice silver crank arm or something. Oh Canada! That dropper looks so nice! Im stoked you got one! Im hoping they do shorter travel 30.9 versions next year because my bike is perfect for it.

    Ostry looks awesome - two drabacks though: 1) I do not live in the north america thus shipping's gonna be a b***** 2) cycling apparel is crazy expensive for what basically amounts to a glorified hawaiian shirt (doesn't seem to come with back pockets, which to me, is the only reason to even by jerseys)
    Either way, cool vid. Love to see Canadians represented in the alt-cycling space! :)

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ouu yeah- the international shipping even to Canada often holds me back, the duties are hit and miss as well, seems to depend on the mood of the custom agent you get that day lol. Thanks for watching!

    I think that Monopole would make a super little touring bike in pinion/belt drive mode. Just throw all your gear in the front instead of multiple bags

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That could be neat! I’d be curious how the wheel size plays along with touring. It definitely would handle the cargo really well!

    Hey guys! Loving the videos! I recently purchased the same camera you have the X100V and was hoping to film bike content however I’m trying to get some tips and tricks on the settings you use and modes? Could you possibly do a video more in depth about the camera? Many thanks!!

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@thetruespuddy7137 Hey, thanks! And that’s awesome to hear. We actually use the Fuji X-T4 for filming parts of our videos. We have an X100V as well but we only use it for photos. I haven’t tried filming on the X100V much so I don’t think I have much useful advice, but it never hurts to get out and see what kind of results you get! I’m not sure what the in camera stabilization (IBIS) is like on that camera so it’s probably best to try it on a tripod as well as handheld. Happy shooting!

    Hey I have spoke to you guys before I have a surly it’s kinda big for me but I ride anyway it’s not too large a 58 as I’m a 56. It’s ok to ride a little large right. I was told by a local cyclist I should sell but the surly is beautiful.

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey! Nice! I ride a 58cm and I’m 6”2 for reference. If you don’t feel uncomfortable on it then I’d say keep rocking it! You could always put on a shorter stem and/or switch to a seatpost with less setback (if yours isn’t already like that). For me personally I’m fairly sensitive to bike fits and like them to feel right in the height and reach. Surly’s tend to sell well on the used market so if you were to sell it you might make a decent chunk of money back but.. if it doesn’t feel uncomfortable then I’d say keep rocking it!

  • @zensukai
    @zensukai 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Sadly, this cargo bike trend is once again catered to a very specific group of people with deep pockets. The price tag on those things is insane.

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@zensukai I don’t find the frames to be too expensive, tbh. Obviously that comes with the added cost of components but, for a unique bike like this it’s pretty aligned with the price of brands like Muli or Triobike frames. I’d love to see cheaper cargo bikes as well but, if I had to guess, I think the cost likely reflects the hand built labor, maybe unique tooling as well, more components, and just more bike/more materials to support heavier loads than your average bike.

    • @zensukai
      @zensukai 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@bike.breath Yes, I do agree that cost and labor reflection is important and agree that if one is getting a hand built frame, it is going to have a higher cost.
      It just seems that the whole cycling ecosystem is price grabbing for some reason and then confused at why no one is buying them. This is why I like the retro/alternative community, as it gets away from these hefty price tags when not need (i.e. hand built/custom frames). Look at the whole carbon shit show. $15,000 dollars for a bike built in the same factory by the same machines as a $800 dollar bike.
      With all that said, I do thing this cargo market is pretty cool and support it, I just don't want to see it turn into another cash grab and "only" for the elite consumer.

    • @bike.breath
      @bike.breath  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Well put, and I agree to an extent! I think marketing is often in the wrong place. For example I’ve seen a ton of Surly Preambles out on the road in the last year and think they’re a great price & accessible way into getting a decent bike. But I’ve rarely seen shops who have that bike even talk about it.
      I feel you on the carbon stuff. I used to own a Salsa Warbird and LOVED it. They’re way out of my price range now and I can’t put my finger on why.

    • @zensukai
      @zensukai 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bike.breath Oh yes, the marketing machine -- you are spot on there. I think bike shops can support both cultures (expensive to affordable) at the same time ... just like they do with ice cream. That way we all know what is out there at what price point and then we can make the choice that best suits one's needs -- and not feel we can't do it because of cost.
      I know the love for carbon ... I rode a friends bike once on a ride and I thought I had wings or lost 30 years and was 20 again. Zoooooooom =]
