- What Happened To The Players Drafted Before & After Steph Curry?
In life, a few things are inevitable:
Death, taxes, and NBA teams passing up on generational talents.
What happened to all the players that heard their names called before and after the GREATEST shooter ever in the 2009 NBA Draft? And where are they now?

Don't disrespect Blake like that. He wasn't a bust, he was great. Led the clippers to relevance, 20 10 his rookie year. Especially when people were talking about how weak the 2009 draft was gonna be.
Took the words out of my mouth!
And now, after parted ways with CP3, Blake has developed himself into a even better all-around player.
That's why the GSW is setting their eyes on him right now. Just wish that he can has a ring or two when he retires, from Golden State of course.
Chris Paul did that get your facts straight Blake was a bust 😂😂😂😂 the man was literally #1 pick
@@kristoffcampbell4197 you so 💔💔
@@kristoffcampbell4197 How is 6time all star and all nba a bust? In his peak he was behind Bron and Durant in MVP voting ie 2014.
I’ll never forget when Casspi and Curry had that 3 point duel 😂
frrrrr
I thought casspi showed promise his rookie season and was sad to see him just fade out a few years later
My opinion on the 09 draft
Griffin-great but too much injuries
Thabeet-massive bust
Harden-great
Evans-promising but developed poorly
Rubio-injured early but still solid
Flynn-promising but got injured
Curry-obviously a HOFer
Hill-became a journeyman early
DeRozan-great
Jennings-promising but got injured
I'd say thats a pretty fair assesment
Harden should also be defo HOF
Harden is defo a hofer
@@ayo330 yeah my bad
Harden is a def a hall of famer, DeRozan is arguably a Hall of Famer
Jonny Flynn could have had a shot at a strong career if that injury didn’t kill all the athleticism he relied on. Being drafted by Minnesota didn’t exactly help his chances either
^^^
Griffin, Harden, Curry, Derozen all great
yessiirr
In another universe ty Lawson is living out his best days as a backup-3rd string pg on the nuggets now and has that chip
Clippers made the right choice at that time, they brought relevance to a dead franchise and wouldn’t been able to get kawhi, Pg and a new stadium from them lob city years
Hey man, not a NBA fan but love learning about other sports history. Gotta say you do a great job explaining cause I feel like I got a good glimpse of NBA in these videos of yours. Cheers from France.
Bonjour my friend! I took a little French in highschool, I can probably read a bit of it still but i for sure lost my speaking
Glad you are liking the videos though even if you are not a huge NBA fan!
Sacramento also have this genius idea of Tyreke playing the forward position
On Ricky Rubio I would also add that he tore that same ACL in his rookie year thus derailing his career would've been an all star no doubt if that didn't happen still managed a pretty solid career though
Sacramento was a mess I swear
@@LockdownK same with the wolves I really dont think its fair to call anyone drafted by that franchise a bust coz they were a dumpster fire of a franchise to begin with
Awesome video. Appreciated how you went over every player in detail and didn’t just pick the biggest names
Glad you enjoyed!
Can you please rate the quality of our new video “1 in BILLION NBA moments” it would really help us. We think its really good and we hope you gonna like it
U deserve so much more subscribers for ur high quality vids. Griffin, Harden, Curry, Derozen all great.
Glad you like them!
Watched only 2 videos but I already love to watch them. You put in so much effort :3
glad you like them!
How do people not say James harden isn’t amazing he averaged 30 for 3 years straight
And revolutionized flopping
Didn't Bradley Beal average 30 points one season?
Just found your channel and absolutely love it!!! Kind of crazy how going into this draft, the two biggest questions surrounding Curry were if he would stay healthy & if his game would translate/develop in the NBA: the exact two things that plagued the prior picks
Preciate you! and yeah Curry's rise was a mystery if anything some many variables that could of gone wrong and took away the dynasty as we know it
This video was so detailed! Holyy. Great video!
Thanks so much!
Keep it going man 🔥 Respect for the thought and research you put into these videos
Appreciate that
Good Video, but just to have an add on, the reason why Tyeke Evans became a bust is because of the kings decided to use him as a small forward instead of point guard, which killed his development.
Blake Griffin is one of those players that, if there was a Hall of "Very Good Players", he would be first ballot: an well above average player/all star caliber player but not quite elite/generational talents. In the same line as LaMarcus Aldridge, Al Horford, Joe Johnson and so on. Probably he's gonna get in anyway - because it's not that hard to get in, actually - but he's not part of the "creme de la creme" of all time NBA players.
Sidenote: just found your channel. Very interesting content. Subscribed.
Tyler Hansborough was the Tim Tebow of college basketball. Never wanted him to win because he was obnoxious, but was obnoxious because he was so good at that level.

1:52 no one finna talk about that voice crack
Lolllll
Should mention the Knicks really wanted Curry, but got screwed by picking after the Warriors
I liked Johnny Flynn. I never knew about the hip injury though. I wondered why he just disappeared.
Lol okc chose to pay the wrong players and didnt expect the big cap increase
Another great video
I appreciate you watching Heather!
You looking at it from the point of view of now…nobody knew Steph would be what he is today just like Jokic.. but yo videos 🔥 tho fosho
There is no way that OKC were still considered title contenders after trading Harden
KD Westbrook were like that
If this draft was redrafted, Curry and Harden are going 1st and 2nd
Griffin is a top 5 pick as is Derozan and maybe Tyreke Evans
This draft was soo bad man
David sterns voice always be cracking
loll
Just imagine The Wolves took Curry and DeRozan 🤯
Would've ruined their careers
What was with that Rubio section? Brief mention of 2011 then straight to 2022?
Fun Fact: when steve kerr was the suns gm he almost got us steph
Blake is a great pick, his injuries ruined him.
Jodie Meeks last played in toronto also won the championship in 2019
dude hardens step back three is traveling
Dell Curry told Minnesota not to draft his son.. you didn’t know that?? So it was a good decision to not draft someone who will not report to your team
Blake wasn’t a bust, he just relied too heavily upon his athleticism which is why he burnt out relatively quickly
Very Good👍🏽 OJ MAYO name from past
Me reading "nbadleague"
"What the hell is N-bad League?" 🤐
u ask why many teams passed on steph like that, well, just like you, they didnt know that curry will bloom into steph that we all know now, if youre on their shoe that time, will you ever pick steph that night? or youre just sayin all this things because u knew that steph is a super star now
PTSD for my thunder. Harden didn’t have to go but at the time it made sense he just tribes into something he wasn’t in OKC with two ball dominate players that were better then him
Blake was great pick
2:21 you did say basketball correctly
The Clippers were a backyard basketball custom team until they drafted Blake
Imagine Jeff Teague being an All-star over much deserving players like Richard Jefferson, Mike Bibby and, Monta Ellis
Spelt Melbourne as in Jason Bourne but pronounced Mel-Ben as in Big Ben
Error in your vid. Jordan Hill was the one drafted after Curry, not Derozan. The Knicks were dead set on drafting Curry and Curry's teams were actively scaring off teams so he would be drafted by the Knicks. This is why the Wolves drafted Flynn over Curry. Golden State chose to ignore the warnings of Steph's team and drafted him anyway. Steph balled out and was second to Reke in the ROTY race.
No error here because, I have J
Hill before Demar in the video
To be fair if anyone says they saw Steph Curry being this good youse a damn lie... Nobody saw that coming.
^
This class is actually great but their health and career are pretty short.
Disagree. Blake and harden were awesome. There is no moral in this story, this is a make or break RISK is always included.
Wtf happened to OJ Mayo??
First overall picks are expected to lift teams to contention.. Then goes on to disprove his point by saying only 5 have done it. This video proves itself wrong multiple times. Making sure this doesn't show in my feed again
Yes sir I'll contact the CEO of TH-cam to let them know to never show you my channel again 🫡
These videos be funny lol..they always make like they would of made the right pick …like he would of drafted anthony black over victor wemby
Did you say hill played over seas then say he played in the North American League lmfao😂
Yeah now that I think about it, there's not something very overseasy about playing in Canada lol
Yeah, but Taiwan Beer is the only thing cool about them since they are middle of a pack team in 3rd Taiwanese league
We would of had a ring if cp3 didn’t get hurt 🥲🥲
Mmaaaayyybbbbeeeee
I hated that nuggets put time into him
Jonny Flynn was Jonny Flynn he was a dud
Bro said baskenpaul
I actually don’t blame the guys for picking who they picked before curry because if we actually go back curry only had has father to his name, his skills never shown in college and it would’ve been unwise to draft someone like that especially because he didn’t even become good till 2015 (2014 maybe but that’s at best) where before that he was more known for consistently getting injured rather than his 3s and although they did win in 2015 that was probably the luckiest finals run ever seen if you need me to explain why you just simply don’t know ball however every ring Steph got after are all deserved
10:15 ain't that a travel?
Damn 1% of people liked the vid that seen it
You did not say basketball, right
blake tlaga eh sayang yung katwan at talent😢
w
