Yo Dom how would you feel about a mid season single elimination tournament in each division as a way to make the season more interesting? I know Adam silver is thinking of adding some other kind of event to change things up. This way theres a legit divisional crown instead of just whoever has the best record.
Thabeet could be useful off the bench on a playoff team if the right team took a chance. If Rudy Gobert can find a niche with his limited offense, then anything is possible.
With all due respect the reason why Steph Curry was able to take power not even is because of his ability to shoot but injuries Steph went through all the injuries when guys like d-rose and Russell Westbrook were considered the two best point guards in the league now after D Rose has been hurt and Russell Westbrook being injured at points in his career led to the elevation of Steph Curry because with all due respect had Russell and Kevin Durant been healthy going into the 2014-2015 postseason I don't think the Warriors would have beat them if Kyrie and Kevin Love with healthy the Warriors wouldn't have won the finals and they proved it because next year you went down 3-1 and had Kevin Durant not wanting to join your team you wouldn't have went to the finals and you blew a 3-1 lead and in the grand scheme of things no point guard in the last 25 years has been able to win Finals MVP and be the best player on his team wow averaging 25 or more let alone having that shooting first mindset so realistically teams were looking for people to be Playmakers because it's easier to find guys who have won championships averaging six or more assist at the guard position then it would be to find somebody averaging 25 or more

Most fools don't understand - Curry isn't just the greatest shooter in NBA history, he's arguably the greatest leader as well, one who can allow his teammates to shine and create a great locker room atmosphere required to win championships and so selfless like he ain't human. Passing on him was on par with Portland passing on MJ.
You are stupid. The greatest leader? I think the championships can be accomplished with 4 all stars and a 6th man of the year. Are you forgetting the years when he lead the warriors to top 5 worst records in the nba the warriors weren’t shit until they got 3 hall of fame players
Pone Vongsouvan still has 2 superstars and a borderline all star. I guess you just ignore klay carrying the entire team the first half or the fact steph shot 11 free throws in 2 quarters

Any chance we see a revival with this series? Very interesting way of incorporating both the draft and how the NBA landscape was in each video. Players like Paul Pierce and Gilbert Arenas would be interesting to look at.
I remember watching Flynn & Hasheem Thabeet in the longest College Basketball game I've ever seen. Syracuse and UCONN played something like 6 Overtime periods and I admit, I thought Jonny Flynn was going to be amazing in the NBA. Steph Curry was so exciting to watch at Davidson, so I wanted him to do well in the NBA, I wouldn't say he was underrated based on his age & build at the time. I also remember everyone kinda just assuming the Knicks would draft one of the Hyped up Point Guards, but them Minnesota had to draft 2 & then the Warriors shocked everyone by taking Curry despite having Ellis & Davis.
Can we just take a few seconds out to acknowledge what my Knickerbockers did wit the number 8 pick? That's right! They had no plan b and panic picked Jordan Hill.... Good Job Dolan
I remember this draft which had a ton of good players. Knicks fans are still salty to this day they didn't get Curry, but I don't think he would have developed the way he did on any other team and not have been as good. Marc Jackson did a great job of developing him and Klay into the splash brothers and he was the one that warned us of the future to be.
That scouting report is gold because Even tho it looks bad Don Nelson already had a vision and Steve Kerr took it to a whole new level we have never seen. Don Nelson might be forgotten by NBA fans but dubs fan will treasure this man forever mark my words.
Paul Le Fevre *in my opinion* he just travels and he chucks up shots that he hopes go in. other than that, like his finishes i’d choose over almost anyone. but tbh, he needs to stop taking so many threes🤷🏽♀️
This is a dope retrospect of the hype of Johnny Flynn dude was really nice I often wonder what he would’ve done in the nba, and you’re right he was the type of guard the nba salivated over, ultra athletic.I liked curry but I had no idea he’d change the you can’t win shooting jump shots narrative forever.
eh I don't think Flynn or anyone else should be looked down upon for being drafted before curry, he came out of Davidson and no one expected him to go top 3, it was a hit or miss pick for the warriors and man did they hit a home run
Yeah but anyone who watched Curry play at Davidson should have known he was special. He was playing at a much higher level than anyone in college basketball.

Conley was down and he was given the opportunity to play as a point. Averaged nearly 20 and 6 assists. Not your average numbers. And then pacers got him and fucked him up again.
Allen Ruz exactly
For real, Evans became a HOF when i simulated his career back in 2k11
Sorry T wolf fans
Would curry blossom into the same player he is today without Kerr's system tho?
Ryan Dupont he was great before kerr got there
That’s a good opinion for...ya know... *craig*
Hehe I’m back
Ryan Dupont y’all acting like Kerr completely changed the warriors, they were already good before he got there
TBT•Jackaloupe omfg 😂😂
Blake has really turned into an all-around player. His offensive game is much better now than it was when he came in.
Nah can't blame " a set" squad as an excuse for poor development, spurs and raptors devolped Kawhi and Siakam respectively while being championship contenders, it comes down to a franchise poorly developing their players
It's more blaming the organization for not really doing the most to develop their young players
The Spurs are awesome with player development, you can't say the same thing about some other teams.
I mentioned that they didn't get him any coaches to steer him the right way
I mentioned the set squad as another hindrance, not the only reason
Agreed and I always address how Raptors were able to do that.
@@Dom2K 1st shit man, crazy to get a reply from you, love all the shit you do
2nd: fair enough, I'm not going to lie I got tunnel vision after the starting 5 point because it's an argument I hear so much and it just bugs me. No situation is a bad situation. It just comes to being a good franchise because that trumps all
Johnny Flynn was my favorite player lowkey. When I saw him and Syracuse go for like 6OTs and win. I was hoping to see more of him
Gonna be weird without LeBron in the playoffs man
Mihir Paranjape L.
W
Mihir Paranjape L but faxx
gonna be weird with him finishing with a lottery record too
Dude just hasn't had any luck this season
The kings ruined tyreke Evans. They should have kept him as the point guard but they switched him to sf.
@Blakk Dymond he was a point guard he played point in college. You clearly didn't know that. He played best at the point. That's why his best season was when he played point his rookie season.
Blakk Dymond yea he’s right. he was always more comfortable at pg but they moved him his second season to sf and he just wasn’t the same
Blakk Dymond plays PG on the pacers...
Facts but injuries also pull him down
Most fools don't understand - Curry isn't just the greatest shooter in NBA history, he's arguably the greatest leader as well, one who can allow his teammates to shine and create a great locker room atmosphere required to win championships and so selfless like he ain't human. Passing on him was on par with Portland passing on MJ.
Alex Lee such a great leader huh? Is that why a choked a 3-1 lead?
You are stupid. The greatest leader? I think the championships can be accomplished with 4 all stars and a 6th man of the year. Are you forgetting the years when he lead the warriors to top 5 worst records in the nba the warriors weren’t shit until they got 3 hall of fame players
Pone Vongsouvan still has 2 superstars and a borderline all star. I guess you just ignore klay carrying the entire team the first half or the fact steph shot 11 free throws in 2 quarters
Pone Vongsouvan I said great leader I know he’s a great player. He’s not as great of a leader. KD won the last 2
Pone Vongsouvan and mj had all stars steph has superstars
Harden was happy with the sixth man role and didn’t want to leave. But because of the way teams were being built back then they traded him. I think Harden is glad that they did now....
He didn't even know his own potential.
You need to check on that. If not mistaken, Harden was offered more to stay and still left.
@@Monk-Amani. no, OKC didn't want to pay Harden extra 4M he wanted
@@Monk-Amani. nop they didnt want to pay harden an extra 4 million now all they have is houston and the warriors kicking their ass each playoffs , led by formar okc players lolll
If Thabeet was properly developed and didn't get drafted by the Grizzlies, he probably would've been a Dikembe Mutombo type of player
no way in hell
Definitely not. He would have been a poor mans Rudy Gobert at best.
Meh
Timestamps for y'all!
3:30 - Blake Griffin
5:43 - Hasheem Thabeet
10:03 - James Harden
11:58 - Tyreke Evans
13:41 - Ricky Rubio
16:15 - Johnny Flynn
Tyler Branham thx
The only successful player is Blake griffin and James harden
Ur a god 👌
I only know three names in that list. Griffin, Harden and Rubio.
Steph is one in a billion. No one knew his true potential at the time, including the warriors management.
Some saw him as a better or worse fit depending on the type of squad they were trying to build.
In retrospect the vision is always 20/20.
Also, he thrives with GSW the way he never would have with Knicks. Green, Iggy and Klay were just as instrumental to this saga of success that is GSW
0ldCat yeah and Mark Jackson started all of that just to get rid of the brother they never made it to the playoffs until Mark Jackson arrived
Mo Bamba is the next Hasheem Thabeet
Edit: Damn you talked about it like a minute later
Keep that same energy about Mo Bamba 👌

thats what im afraid of. i love mo and i wish he went somewhere else but it looks like vucevic is gone so maybe when he heals up he'll be starting next year
Nah mo just need to go to another team
A seven footer that can shoot the 3ptr will always have a place in the league, at the very least as contributor of the bench.
We also gotta give the Warriors some credit for having a smart-ass coach and for putting great players around Curry.
"Why was Blake picked before curry?"
Captain obvious:"Curry can't dunk"
Lololol
johnDomain well 48 people thought so dumb fuck
Tooryalai Maqdoor Good English.
Tooryalai Maqdoor why r u so offended ur a salty kid. 64 isn’t that big of a number. Lmao 😂
Hugh Nguyen oh, well you must've been the smartest kid in special ed, huh? 64 > 1 dumbass; now go drink some clorox so you don't get the coronavirus.
Tooryalai Maqdoor That is actually a good idea smh.
Any chance we see a revival with this series? Very interesting way of incorporating both the draft and how the NBA landscape was in each video. Players like Paul Pierce and Gilbert Arenas would be interesting to look at.
And Draymond Green
"And the Thabeet goes on......" (Song reference. Original lyric: "And the beat goes on")
You killed it when you explained it.
Good Job Dolan
skip to 1:30
you're welcome
Rubio , Curry and Love ... the wolves missed big time!
Or Rubio, Kyrie and Love
Crazy how Skip Bayless said he’d take Curry no.1 over Blake Griffin. & look how right he was
Skip is usually right, it just he has to play a character since he is on TV
Hey Dom! Yours is quickly becoming my fav go-to bball channel! Keep up the great work, brother
Hindsight is 20/20 but I probably would have picked all of these guys before Curry except Flynn and Rubio... Especially in that season
Honeslty I would have put curry 2nd pick
The only one that should be arguable to pick before curry is harden
I remember this draft which had a ton of good players. Knicks fans are still salty to this day they didn't get Curry, but I don't think he would have developed the way he did on any other team and not have been as good. Marc Jackson did a great job of developing him and Klay into the splash brothers and he was the one that warned us of the future to be.
Yes genius M.Jackson, did that recruiting 👏 🙌 👌 👍 👀
Why were 6 people drafted before curry? Cause hindsight is 20/20
In Evans defense, the Kings decided to play him at Small Foward after his rookie season. They stopped playing him at his preferred position
Which I still don't understand y no one has let him run point since dude was putting up Hof level numbers when he was allowed to run point
Stephen Curry Tiny!?
"Cries in 5'3"
That scouting report is gold because Even tho it looks bad Don Nelson already had a vision and Steve Kerr took it to a whole new level we have never seen. Don Nelson might be forgotten by NBA fans but dubs fan will treasure this man forever mark my words.
Make a Brooklyn Nets video
I agree
Agreed
Dom nailed the comparison of Thabeet’s situation to Mo Bambi’s situation with Orlando to a Tee. Man’s a wizard.
I don't think people hate James Harden, they just don't respect him. He only plays half the game.
@@RR-vu3ol then why was he choosen 6th overall... NO ONE expected or couldve expected steph to turn out the way he did. Your tryna tell me the scouts for the first 5 teams didnt scout curry... come on man

Wow The only people I knew were Blake Griffin James Harden and Ricky Rubio
How did you not know Tyreke Evans?
ogbmt OK I didn’t I forgot he was in that draft
That draft class is pretty stacked, blake, harden, curry, derozan, teague, holiday, beverley, danny green, ricky rubio, tyreke evans
ogbmt he fell off big time.
whose here after he FINALLY Won a Finals MVP
James Harden and Blake Griffin are legends
its obvious why history plays out the way it does instead of playing out to what has happened in recent events
The Timberwolves could've had Steph Curry and Demar Derozan. SMH.
who’s here after the 2022 finals??

People don’t realize how amazing Rubio was his rookie year with his passing
Let me point out that the Kings tried to use him as a SF rather than as a SG. And in terms of his progression, the Kings kind of screwed him.

I’m from Minnesota & this draft was painful to watch.
This wasn’t “why did 6 players get drafted before Steph Curry”. It was “who got drafted before Steph Curry”
The title says "Where are they now", and also he said in the beginning it was because he wasnt the ideal player for the game back then, but obviously now its changed
This is an old video but, lemme just say thankyou to the warriors and also knicks for recognizing curry, if he wasn't drafted we wouldn't see this out of this world player who changed basketball💙💛
“3 titles that probably will go on to be 4 in the next few months”
*plays kawhi laughing clip*
Lmao Kawhi the overrated one? Yeah he laughing hehe
As a knicks fan I’m definitely not crying right now
I can't beleive when we talk about busts Hasheem Thabeat is never mentioned
True. What bothers me more though is that people call Greg Oden or Markelle Fultz a bust because of injuries yet people don't seem to bring up Michael Olowakandi.
@@ogbmt True 💯
@@ogbmt 1999 was not a great draft class. That's why he don't get mentioned. Thabeet idk why he don't
@@lenirish Just Looked it up. It was 1998, and the top 10 picks included Mike Bibby, Antwan Jamison, Vince Carter, Jason Williams, Larry Hughes, Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Pierce.
When Steph Curry was killing it In like 2013 though Blake Griffin was a beast he was one of my favourite players from just pure strength and dominating the court.
Curry should’ve been drafted by Minnesota. He would’ve been the 5th or 6th pick.
Hi at the time Rubio was the best pg to get. Destroyed USA at the olympics
I remember Johnny Flynn would always win Rookie of the year on 2k10 myplayer, I was always surprised lmao
The reason the wolves didn’t pick curry was because dell said that curry didn’t want to play in MN

Good old Johnny Flynn 😂😂😂
Dom i love this series. Maybe u could do what if some historic legends were drafted today. Like Bird, Kareem, Reggie Miller etc
"Through 3 titles and probably 4 in a few months"
HEHEHE
Thabeet was so nice in college and stephs tourney run was amazing. I was across my street shooting shots in my driveway lol
But was any of them steph curry with a 40 inch vertical?
I was just thinking of Thabeet this past week. While he probably won't make it back to the NBA, he could be a solid G League who gets occasional 10 day contracts, or could sign on with one of the teams in The Basketball League
Lol curry was cooking in college, I never doubted his finishing abilities. The only shot they took at curry was that he wasn't your "athletic " pg while some similar dude from Canada had 2 mvps 3 years prior.
Lmao andrew bogut
Curry is a direct reflection of coaching! A good coach knows how to use what a player does best!
Why mark jackson isn't coaching, i have no idea
Worst pick was the one after Curry, NYK wanted him and was one pick away. The person they drafted was a bust!!!
On top of that DeMar DeRozan was picked up after that scrub...
It's a sad life being a knick fan 😅
Jordan hill, but knicks too stupid to develop their players. David lee was there and were pushing for the playoffs they could have went for a guard instead.

Hey Dom, I got an idea for a video
You could do a “Top 10 what if moments in nba history”
For example what if mike never retired or what if there was a kobe-lebron finals
Love your content keep it up
I'm not sure Steph would have done this in New York...The Bay Area can make you feel like none other!
Yep. We love our guys who play/played for the Dubs. I'm not sure who has ever gotten boo'ed here after going to another team. Maybe Webber and Spreewell. It's the same with the SF Giants. Once you've been a Giant you have to do something stupid for the fans to not root for you.
"and the jumpshot the likes which this world was never witnessed" 😭😭😭 goosebumps
What if Curry did end up with the Kings, would he develop the way he has become now?
yeah he would have, worst case scenario he gets traded to a trash team and develops their remember he didnt come to the league as a top 5 scorer
I live in N.C and im a diehard tarheel.
But i remember watching Steph Curry play at Davidson and remember thinking this kid is gonna be good.
