Sabaton don't take sides, they simply tell war stories. They've told stories about Nazis, Russians, Americans and every nation in between, a whole album on Sweden's Era of Great Power 1611-1721, The Final Solution, Hitler, Lawrence of Arabia, The Fall of Berlin etc etc. Keep exploring, you'll find out.
Under Gen. Erwin Rommel - 1940 advance through the Ardennes which the French thought was impassable. Rommel is known for his Afrika Korps but he should be known for his WW1 victories which had very few casualties on BOTH sides. Ghost Division was also blamed for several massacres of POW's in France and then the Soviet Union (when Rommel was not present although he preferred to lead at the front).
The "Ghost Division" was a German panzer division (under command of Erwin Rommel) which participated in the invasion of France (where they got their nickname). Panzers (german for tanks) were usually known as ridiculously fast units and the infantry couldn't keep up with them at all unless they had some mechanized units. And this particular division was notorious for disappearing before an advance and reappearing miles in enemy territory after a while (most notably 200 miles in one day). Neither the German command nor the French knew where it was at any point in time as long as they were advancing. That is why the French gave them the nickname "Division fantôme" --- (literal translation from french - Ghost division) Truly terrifying
Bacaps3r Gaming the Germans also called the 7th PzDiv the Ghost Division because it scared them because they didn’t know were they were and they were out running the logistics.

It's a Swedish band. (Floor Jansen is married to the drummer......) And they sing about every type of war and heroism from all over the world with accurate historical value. They even have their own historical channel on youtube that explains their videos.
Welcome to the sabaton army guys! This is battle metal and I’m looking forward to your Journey through there catalog. It’s isn’t a bad some among them. There are favorites and some I like more then others. They are Swedish band and they take events from history and make songs about it. They don’t glorifying war but they believe we should never forget what happened in the past so we never repeat it.
The Ghost Division was the 7th Panzer(tank) Division under the command of Erwin Rommel. They moved so fast that neither the French or the German officers knew where they were.
There's been multiple documentaries that have presented WW2 and even Peter Jackson's WW1 footage (They Shall Not Grow Old) as colorised and revamped to look more modern. Sabaton is basically a history lesson in each and every song. Check out Bismark/Fields of Verdun/Seven Pillars of Wisdom/Attack of the Dead Men for some dope music videos. That said, you will learn something historic from every one of their songs. Much love!
Despite quite a lot of their songs being about the glory of fighting the Nazis, some people still think they are Nazi apologists because of songs like this... ......People are pretty stupid.
Indeed. This division was lead by Rommel. The ONLY nazi with a museum dedicated to his memory. Incredibly gifted tactician and oh yeah member of an attaempted assassination of Hitler.
Daniel Rupp one correction he wasn’t a nazi he was a German he did not agree with the nazi ideals but he wanted to fight for Germany anyways because it was his nation. You will find that he often opposed hitler and was even involved in a plot to kill hitler which resulted in him having to take his own life.
7:47 "Blitzkrieg?" Blitzkrieg translates to 'lightning war' and describes the tactics used by Germany during WW2. Germany knew it would not win a long term war (they learned that during WW1) so their goal was to overrun the rest of Europe with lightning speed in the hope of never having to fight any super long battles. Specifically Russia was the reason Germany was forced to slow down. So many soldiers and civilians died during the fighting at the eastern front (the numbers are crushing). Russia the surrounding countries are not given enough credit for that.
Also, Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band. They're famous for the quality and themes of their songs, as well as taking a more objective look at the material. There are songs like Primo Victoria which is about the D-Day invasion in Normandy and features the line "Through the gates of hell as we make our way to heaven through the Nazi lines! Primo Victoria![First Victory]" and Bismarck about the German battleship. Sabaton keeps the focus of their lyrics on people and battles, instead of the politics and belief systems.
A sabaton is the piece of armor that covers your feet in the medieval ages. Also the headset on that German tank commander is exactly as I said, a headset for radio communication.
That guy with the beats headphones is (if i remember correctly) Otto Carius the best german tank ace with around 150 confirmed destroyed enemy combat vehicles and one plane. He actually shot down a plane with a Tiger Tanks Main gun because „it annoyed him“ 😂
"Tank boys" would be a spot on definition of Sabaton!😄 Their drummer is sitting on a tank on their shows! (At least on the latest tour). They also have tanks in their music video, "Primo Victoria" (about D-day 1944). You should check that out. Also check out "Bismarck"(about the German battleship, WW2. Awesome music video!), "Fields of Verdun" (about the battle of Verdun, WW1), "To hell and back" (about an American war hero, WW2).
the Germans were way beyond anyone during the Second World War, they had Tanks, Planes, Ships, Vehicles and everything in order. and thus making Crazy weapons and ME-262 being the ever FIRST German Jet.
I have SO much I could tell you about Sabaton but I'll make one short and quick statement. They are a historically inspired power metal group. They write songs based on history from every side of a conflict. If you want more, I suggest 82nd All The Way, a song about the most decorated soldier of WW1, Devil Dogs, a song about how the US Marine Corps earned their nickname, Fields of Verdun, a song about the longest single battle in recorded history, or Bismarck, a song about the battle of the Atlantic in WW2.
Yes, they did open with Ghost Division during their 2022 North American tour. Lots of people took videos of these shows. Actually, the show opened with a short film about the Dough Boys, Americans who went to Europe to fight in WW1. This was an incredible experience, to watch old time films of the Dough Boys, from every race and walk of life, going to Europe to fight. When the narrator says that the Dough Boys "American resolve had ended the war," the audience was all clapping, at the same time that the old news reels on the screen showed Americans from 1918 (?) cheering the end of the war. We were cheering at the same time as people long dead, but both cheering the same thing. Americans did something right, helped people. Actually, for a moment, we could feel proud of US and what these guys accomplished. It ended with a call for a national monument in DC for the Dough Boys. THEN there was a pounding and flashing around the tank, and Ghost Division started. It was quite exciting! Also, the covid restrictions had been lifted. We all were just thrilled to be at a concert again.

Sabaton doesn’t take sides in politics or religion. Their music focuses on military history. Stories that are slowly being lost to time. They tell the stories and leave out the politics which is a good thing

Personal favorite video is probably still to hell and back, their song about Audie Murphy, the most soilder from WW2 with the most medals awarded to a living soilder with 3 segments cut in it. With Audie himself in the movie he acted in, the band performing the song and an actor portrayed him locking himself in a hotel room detoxing.
Hey Smokey, hey Hollywood! I like your reaction as always. You're really cool guys and I like you but a few things should be said: First of all they are Swedish and not German. Second and very important: they don't glorify the Nazis at all! They sing about historical wars and they never choose a side or say this are the good guys and this are the bad guys. Sabaton doesn't make songs about the Germans, the French, the British or any other side. They do songs about the soldiers. The people who often get forgotten. If you're a soldier it doesn't matter on which side you are. There is no good, no bad, there is only you as a soldier who risks and gives his life to protect his country, to protect his family and the people he loves. This is what their songs are about. About the forgotten heroes of the wars who gave everything to protect their country. About soldiers or division who did almost outstanding things without taking care of their lifes. Even if we all know that the Nazis were damn bastards, There were soldiers in the German army who did their best in the believe to help and protect their families. They also were victims of the nazi propaganda. About such people are the songs. Also there are songs about the Polish soldiers who who bravely defendet their country. The French in ww1 who defendet their line against an almighty enemy. About Samurai who tried to defend their tradition. Try to hear some more of their songs. You will like them. Also musically! If you are intrested in history, They also have a separate Sabaton History channel on TH-cam where they explain the background of their songs with an historican. What's the song about and what the thoughts were why they created the song. Really great. @Smokey you're right man! It's really the shoe! A Sabaton is medieval shoe which belonged to the plate armour of a Knight ;-) Greetings from Germany! Stay save and Healthy!

To answer your question about the footage. It is colorized war footage. The guy who made the fan video used footage from all the German fronts. The Ghost division was the ones who were at the forefront of the blitz through Europe. They got so far ahead the main forces were basically catching up.
Sabaton really came into popularity after they teamed up with the Video game company Wargaming. They helped The band produce the Video for the Song " Primo Victoria ". A great reaction. One thing about Sabaton, which ever side they're singing about, they always acknowledge that the actual soldiers, are actual people, separate to any cause or orders. "Through hell and back." and "Prima Victoria" (original version) would be great ones to react to.
I think you're severely underestimated how technologically advanced they were in 1940. They had already started working on jet engines, rocket engines, mechanical computers and even vacuum tube computers. Radio and remote communication systems were not THAT new in WW2, and they definitely had access to headphones like the guy at 7:14.
@EpsteinsPlasticSurgeon I doubt that the Germans were all that technologically advanced in WW2. What won them their battles in the beginning was more tactics than armour.
A little info for you. Many have said they dont take sides but if you want to learn about their songs and the history behind their songs they have an entire TH-cam channel "Sabaton History" Where they talk about the history. A personal favorite song by them is a ballad, Ballad of Bull, its about a conscientious objector in WW2, Leslie "Bull" Alan who was a medic and refused to carry a rifle. The unit he was assigned to had to climb a steep cliff. Upon that cliff they were met with extreme resistance. Bull was the only one who defied the orders to retreat, he went up the cliff to recover the wounded. He carried them and improvised a way to hoist them down the cliff face. His actions saved the lives of 12 warriors that day. The enemy was known for shooting at medics with the big red cross, he was a marked man on top of that cliff. He was defenseless without a rifle, or grenades and yet he advanced upon the enemy to recover his brothers in arms. In the end Sabaton sings about stories from war both the good and the bad parts, newer and old history. You guys are American and theres a ton of songs like "Lost Battalion" A WW1 song about a battalion trapped behind the enemy lines for months, "The Price of a Mile" a song about Audie Murphy Americans most decorated soldier IIRC, "No bullets fly" A song about a heavily damaged american B17 bomber escorted out of the fight by a German pilot who risked execution for his actions if he was caught, he escorted them out and over German AA guns flying close enough that German ground crews wouldnt shoot. "Devil Dogs" was a song about the USMC earning their nickname in WW1. They even talk about the relatively unknown parts of history like in WW2 when Brazil sent troops who became known as "Smoking Snakes" to fight in Italy of the thousands deployed they lost 3 to the Germans, They found their bodies buried with full military honors and crosses inscribed in German were the words "Here lie 3 Brazilian heros" As the story goes their section was on patrol came upon a German Wehrmacht, not nazi but regular German soldiers, emplacement. They ambushed the position. Sending half of their team back to get reinforcements. They ran out of ammo, fixed bayoneted and charged the German position, the 3 of them fought to the last breath and fought with such ferocity that they earned the respect of the Germans. Because of their actions they were given that full honors burial and crosses. I highly recommend doing some more of their songs, youll learn a lot about history. Only metal band ever honored by the church to the point a bishop in Poland bowed and presented a gift to them live during a concert. Brazil uses their Smoking Snakes song as a marching song. They dont shy away from the dark parts of history or the light parts and they embrace the history.
6:58 headphones were invented in 1910 and by 1940-1945 most to all german tank crews were equipped with a radio to speak to each other and coordinate with moblie command vehicles
The "headphones" the dude is wearing at 7:00 , they did have those back then. They were not as advanced as what we have now, obviously, but they still had telephone technology then, as well as radio transmission capability. That guy is the tank commander. Those headphones allow him to receive orders from the division commander, or whomever is giving the orders on the field.
Fun fact: when Rommel was returning to the German front lines, the 7th panzer division vehicles that managed to keep up during the advance came behind a French convoy, instead of fighting Erwin Rommel politely asked the lead vehicle to surrender.

Sabaton tells stories from any time from any perspective. They don’t use their personal preference or beliefs to write songs. Just legendary stories from all times and all sides.
Sabaton is Swedish, and they have a long standing creed in their music of War Knows No Nation. It's about the men and women who died fighting, their victories and their defeats. It's a study of glory and abject terror of warfare throughout history
7:00 those headphones were used for radio communication which did exist back then. Also these videos are real. lot's of footage from back then has been slightly colorized with some cool software and used in documentary series about WOII.
6:56 It is indeed a video from 1944! Germans were known to have good communication equipment and if I'm not mistaking they were the first to have an interphone to communicate between crew members in the tank without having to shout like mad men
11:00 nah remember folks. War never changes. The rations either aren't there or they suck, there is still a whole lot of artillery, a whole lot of walking, a whole lot of sitting in mud, and a whole lot of dying. Shoutout to the tank crews who burn alive instead of getting shot like normal people.
7:10 German tank divisions used radios thats how they managed to win so many quick victories by comunicating witch each other while the allies mostly only had 1 radio for some tanks
6:58 those are radio operator headphones. He had a radio inside the tank connected via wire to the headphones so he could listen while looking for enemy targets. Compact audio systems aren't that new.

It was just so amazing, since because this division was the first in history to go so fast that even the commanders lost contact with the division. You’ll find sabaton will cover any part of military history, no matter which side they are on.
And when they do its from the perspective of a soldier
.Swedish band dedicated to educating.
..and no, in much of the world, it's not what you signed up for. It's what you had to do. You got a letter.
Learrn your history. It's not a subject at school. It's what you are and why you are. It's lessons we need to learn if we don't want to go through it all again. And as you said, thank god we don't have to... hopefully
"know your history, or be damned to repeat it" right?
The drummer is married to Floor Jansen of Nightwish
What a lucky guy
Though the drummer on Art of War is Daniel Mullback, not Hannes van Dahl
Why is this the first comment anyone posts on a Sabaton reaction?
Nobody fucking cares... why does this have to be under every reaction video, good for Hannes, now leave his personal life be
@@countrytownify both bands are pretty popular and reacting to Nightwish is a popular trend among reaction chanels (there's pretty good reason to that, lol), and thus you have two people from two very popular bands that are connected to each other, and it's a fun fact, I guess.
As far as your comment “they got what they signed up for” goes, it wasn’t like that, in Germany and the Soviet Union you either fought or you die. Whether it be from the enemy or your own country. That’s how real it was. You had no choice but to take your chances in combat or die a disgraced man.
Sabaton's music mostly are about war's and military stuff that has been. They're songs can be from all over the place. They are from Sweden btw.
6:57 those are actually headphones for tank commanders to communicate to headquarters
And to communicate with their own crews. Tanks is a big loud metaphor box with big engines and bullets and bombs blasting off their hull.
Gets a wee noisy ^.-.^
Not to communicate with the headquaters. There's no way to communicate with the headquaters. That's to communicate with with other tank crews and messages from the radio operator that get messages to and from other tanks as well as their generals.
Generals communicate with headquaters differently at that as well.
Blitzkrieg
@@venomtailOG actually all members of a tank communicated with each other. the tank leader had medium transmitter to communicate with other tanks leaders of the same team, and tank team leader had even bigger radio to comminucate with HQ.
@@venomtailOG yes there is a way to radio the gefechtstand ( headquarters )

sabaton is a part of the armor that goes near the feet (if I remember correctly), and the band is swedish, every song of then refers to an historic war moment, but they do the songs in a way to celebrate the soldiers who fought the wars, not the countries or ideolegies wich were in the war and they don't present political sides on them, the brazilian army adopted the song they made about 3 brazilians who fought during WW II into the oficial army songs

Not sure if others have said already but Sabaton actually has a history channel (Sabaton history) where they go in depth about the history behind the song and the process behind making the song
Sabaton doesn't glorify but they do put historical knowledge at the finger tips and ears of those that may not know much about significant wars, and people. Sabaton - The Attack of The Dead Men, The End of The War To End Wars
It's a Swedish band. (Floor Jansen is married to the drummer......)
And they sing about every type of war and heroism from all over the world with accurate historical value.
Much love!

Sabaton is a Swedish heavy metal band. Amazing! Seen them live 5 times!
Angels calling starts with a cello, and Gallipoli uses a piano in it
The Ballad of Bull, fantastic piano-based piece.
Daniel Rupp ooh I didn’t know that!
7:05 are noise, canceling headphones, so whenever the tank fires, the sound doesn’t break your ear drums
Manowar- Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy in Eight Parts is an epic power metal song.
Beyond Epic.
7:47 "Blitzkrieg?"
Blitzkrieg translates to 'lightning war' and describes the tactics used by Germany during WW2.
The lead vocalist of SABATON featured on a track from BABYMETAL's latest album. Song is called "Oh Majinai". Check it.
Let's goooo! Sabaton FTW! I'll probably make a follow up comment after the video.
He actually shot down a plane with a Tiger Tanks Main gun because „it annoyed him“ 😂
Imagine how confused his CO must have been when he claimed an aerial kill
Sabaton are a Swedish metal band who tell historical war stories, they arent glorifying nazis, they're telling the story of the 7th pazer division

I have SO much I could tell you about Sabaton but I'll make one short and quick statement. They are a historically inspired power metal group. They write songs based on history from every side of a conflict. If you want more, I suggest 82nd All The Way, a song about the most decorated soldier of WW1, Devil Dogs, a song about how the US Marine Corps earned their nickname, Fields of Verdun, a song about the longest single battle in recorded history, or Bismarck, a song about the battle of the Atlantic in WW2.
you liked the headphones of the german tankers. Then you should also see the microphones which was like 100 years ahead of every other army.
You should see them live. The drummer sits in a tank. Lots of power.
fun fact, if you plan or wish to see any of their concerts after covid is over, they always open with this song

@@Clonetrooperz48 Wrong. You would be correct in saying that by the time the Allies and Soviets are invading the German Heartland itself that most of the German soldiers are no longer fighting for Hitler or the Nazis but for Germany itself and for their families, barring the fanatics in the SS.

With Audie himself in the movie he acted in, the band performing the song and an actor portrayed him locking himself in a hotel room detoxing.
Hey Smokey, hey Hollywood! I like your reaction as always. You're really cool guys and I like you but a few things should be said:
First of all they are Swedish and not German.
A Sabaton is medieval shoe which belonged to the plate armour of a Knight ;-)

To answer your question about the footage. It is colorized war footage. The guy who made the fan video used footage from all the German fronts. The Ghost division was the ones who were at the forefront of the blitz through Europe. They got so far ahead the main forces were basically catching up.

@EpsteinsPlasticSurgeon Ok, still false

You can't go wrong with Sabaton! Great reaction. I would absolutely love to see Bury Tomorrow - Choke reaction!

Hey guys Sabaton has another youtube channel where they teach the history behind their songs. its called Sabaton History @trashtalkers
7:10 German tank divisions used radios thats how they managed to win so many quick victories by comunicating witch each other while the allies mostly only had 1 radio for some tanks
7:01 yes those are indeed headphones, they where connected to the radio to communicate with both the crew inside the tank and other tanks
6:58 those are radio operator headphones. He had a radio inside the tank connected via wire to the headphones so he could listen while looking for enemy targets. Compact audio systems aren't that new.
