If not your head then your tail bone and that takes almost a year to fully heal 😍 saying this from experience it is extremely painful so please try and fall on your side for anyone who does not figure skate or is planning on it ❤ Love your videos Michelle
I’ve fallen on my tailbone while doing a bunny hop 😂😂😂 It hurt so much though- I’ve fallen on my tailbone 5 times (aprox) so it hurts a lot more when I sit on my tailbone or fall on it
That is why when I fall backwards I commit and fall with straight back instead of a sitting position. I tried to bend my neck but didn't help I hit my head
Same with hockey, but since the fall is so hard to control when you get hit, protecting your head and limbs (somebody once skated over another players’ wrist without noticing) is your number one priority
I needed this when I completely Charlie Browned at the public rink fourish years ago. Nothing better than just going straight flat onto your back in the middle of a public rink with literal eight year olds swirling in circles around the perimeter. Good times. Thanks to this video though, I shouldn't have that happen again. Thank you!!
You can also get on all fours, leave your hands on the ground, and push both feet up. Once they are stable you can lift your hands off the ice. I recommend that more if your scared.
This looks almost exactly like the place I went skating at for the first and only time the ice was uneven that day and the skate hit a deep divet when I was spinning and I fell down on my wrist then hit my head and sprained my wrist lovely first memory of skating 😅 I still wanna try again tho bc I don't quite when I get hurt especially when figure skating looks so fun
Please avoid putting your hands down when you fall. Fall where the padding is. Sit to the side and keep your head up, you know what's down there. Most common injury with beginning skaters is a broken wrist
@@barbiedoll44 basically, choose a buttcheek. Left or right, there’s more fat therefore more protection there. If you’re landing sideways on your hips, try and curl into a ball, your weight can be evenly distributed over the side of your thighs as well as your hip that way
I went ice skating twice ,only fell twice , but it is not easy, if you don't have strong ankles it will be painful, you will have to keep stopping and take a break because of the pain but i can still be fun i think i prefer rollor skating . GOODLUCK.
i smacked the back of my head against the ice pretty hard i allost passed out and lost most consciousness/ability to talk or react or do anything in general for a short while,my head just kinda hurt for around 3 weeks,do not freak out ever when u are about to fall
So u do March March glide so basically. While u March u try gliding (use the barriers for support) and then u keep doing that and ur skating and leave ur hand out like an airplane
step 1: knees bent step 2: V shape step 3: take the stride ( one leg push ) step 4: do the same thing over and over again step 5: stopping ( hockey stop ) two feet together then look the way you are stopping then shoulder and legs EASSYYY
Agree with everything but the hockey stop. There's a lot of nuance to balance and ankle position for that. But the V? Absolutely! I don't understand the marching in place bit.
I only agree with step 3 and 4 do not do 1,2 or 5 try push outwards at an angle to gain speed and also to stop turn your body and put all pressure on the front foot (hockey stop).
Is the way she stops better or the one where you turn your toes in. Because I've seen videos where they specifically tell you not to let your feet get wider than shoulder length
Falling down is going to happen to you if you spend any amount of time on the ice. But you definitely don't need gloves for it. "Marching" isn't going to help you. It's just going to help you practice falling.
ive fallen backwards while going into a waltz jump and landed on my tailbone. i couldnt bend down at all for the rest of the day and some of the next bc it hurt so bad 😭
guys don’t stomp because if you stomp your going to eventually be stroking with your toe pick which is not good and harder to un learn i recommend pushing out to the side one good at a time then gradually push more backwards
This is wrong, first you want to learn balance and make sure that you actually learn it before you start trying to skate properly. Marching is not a way to skating if you want to go fast I would suggest learning to glide instead of marching on ur first steps. And to stop all you have to do is start spreading your legs apart slowly instead of pushing them out and trying to hockey stop with both legs away for each other that is a good way to do the splits on ice and it will hurt! Also to keep your balance just put your hands on your knees best way to not fall back wards and hit your head on the ice
Step 3 should be step 1.. just saying💀🤣… half expect her to say “if you French fry when you’re supposed to pizza, you’re gonna have a bad time!”🤣🤣🤣 #southpark 🫡
I went for a freinds party, her is my Edvice: You want to hold on for dear life and when u can stand start to stomp. Then get a penguin and use it to help u get the format. When ur ready, go of and do all those things in the rink 😊😊😊
I find it easier to balance on roller blade rather than Ice Skates. Since you’re not on ice with the roller blades, there’s a lot more friction to work with. With the roller blades, the wheels extend further out towards the front of your foot compared to the blade of an ice skate that doesn’t extend as far which has caused me to fall from time to time on the ice since I’m used to the extra length of the wheels on the roller blade
I’ve been wanting to get back into figure skating recently (I did it when I was 5) and didn’t carry it on for long. But a few years ago I got Plantar Fasciitis and I was wondering if it’s still possible to be able to skate with it? Would appreciate someone to reply!❤️
Listen. I know this sounds weird, but my chiropractor actually helped with my plantar fasciitis a lot. They adjusted the bones in my feet a few times and it really helped. Once I was able to incorporate the stretches and exercises they showed me, my pain was gone. On the rare occasion it comes back (only once or twice in the last 15 years), I got more adjustments, did the stretches again, and it cleared up!
@@goldiloks08 Thanks for sharing! I might see if I can see a chiropractor but my mum said it’s quite expensive at the moment so hopefully soon. But ty for the help :)

that one guy in the back dancing: 🕺
My thought 8months later
Me after reading this:it’s rewind time
The guy in the back dancing on step 2 is incredible... 100/10 👏
“if you go backwards you’re gonna hit your head” 😂😂 she describes something so violent in the nicest tone possible
I hit my butt…

The only person who was actually clear lol

this is good advice, can you clarify what fall where the padding means?

BUT MY BELLY HAS MORE FAT
i pissed
Didn’t break my wrist but jammed my index finger when I fell backwards cuz some 10 year old rammed into me at Mach 7
I just learnt bec I do roller skating so I just went for it then trie to spin and then I'm now rlly good at skating
This was so good! I’ll try these in my first time. :)
Thank you so much if this works you are a miracle worker

It's bcs your ice skating like you got buckled knee (person from experience)
This is so helpful! I’m going ice skating today and I haven’t been skating since like 5th grade
I’m going ice skating for the first time tomorrow and I’m glad it’s basically like roller skating/blading
....wish I watched your video before hitting the ice with the kiddos 🤣
It’s almost my birthday and I’m gonna go ice skating so this really helped!
Thxxxx u made my day ilysmmmmm
That loop was great tho!❤
Where did you get your legwarmers and gloves... so cute😊 and very helpful tips!
Coach pls never stop making videos U have inspired me so much
I started skating thanks to you and 1year in and I have never been happier
You make it look so easy
Thanks a lot for your video. It worked.
i smacked the back of my head against the ice pretty hard i allost passed out and lost most consciousness/ability to talk or react or do anything in general for a short while,my head just kinda hurt for around 3 weeks,do not freak out ever when u are about to fall
so is skating on the ice like skating in normal skates?
Ima do the splits if I stop like that any different ways?
Yessss now i can dress up as ghiaccio and then become white album in an ice skate centre blasting (Ghiaccio's theme) on a phone
Today I got hurt and didn’t know how to stop thank u very much !!
I wish we had that in algeria
Where are you leg warmers from they are lovely ❤

I do roller skating so it's probably gonna be easier for me
I can skate on ice just fine, but every time I try roller skating, I end up looking like I got into a huge fight.

True today I played and l fall and all my body is broken 👎🏼🥲
Im a hockey player and I’m just watching this for fun🤣🤣
When you put pressure won’t your leg shake and fall

I only agree with step 3 and 4 do not do 1,2 or 5 try push outwards at an angle to gain speed and also to stop turn your body and put all pressure on the front foot (hockey stop).
Don’t forget the snow pants, always wear snow pants if you’re prone to falling and/or are a beginner
I don’t think i need to learn step three, as that’s why I’m here 😂
In the mall of asia/moa i think they don't give gloves but sell but that's ok

And fall to the left of you know you fall in front of you, but not backwards you’re right about that one
Simple non risk ways to learn techniques! Especially because you’re pretty much not in motion at all

one of the worst habits beginners have in ice skating is ‘walking on ice’. A LOT of people skate like they would walk on the streets.
I remember when I was 7/8*now 10* I always fall on my butt😂*if you fall backwards just sit so you can’t hurt your head*
I slipped and balanced myself but my hands almost broke😆
Omg this is the place i go to in oakland
nice
This worked for me, I fell over more times than I could count. And most of it was backwards, landed on my butt
Me not know what I’m doing and I just go out there my first time like I’m roller skating😭
Hands on your knees, hands on your knees ,
Stop one will make me do a spilt cause i can do s split 💀💀
I GO TO THE SAME ICE DEN
Jeez I am a skater too and my level is Axel beginner 😅
Why do I feel like when I go to stop I’m gonna end up doing the splits and falling
Falling backwards is painful had a small pain in my hip for months after I fell
I'm at the rink right now 😅
