I am finally in the ‘I passed but am still watching’ crew. The best advice I can give is to remember that the examiner is a person, and they’re at work! They’ve seen people all day every day and in the least rude way possible, you’re not special! It’s not a test, it’s a check to see if you’re safe to be out on your own. If you’re not safe, you don’t want to pass! You don’t wanna be out there on your own if you’re gonna hurt yourself or someone else. Stay as calm as you can, as soon as you meet the examiner you’ll start to feel better. Deep breaths, you’ll get there!! Try not to think about all the reasons you want to pass and instead think about where you’re gonna drive. Think ‘dot to dot’ one thing at a time!! Good luck!

I passed my driving test a few weeks ago, thanks to this and other channels regarding driving.
If I may give a few tips that might help whomever is going for the test
    1. Engage with the examiner at the start, be nice, be attentive to what they re saying. Ask a few questions and show genuine care about their answers I.e. how long have you been an examiner? Do you enjoy it?
    2. Try to imagine you are going for a ride in your car and the examiner is just someone asking you for a lift, so youd be driving this person for 40min until your destination.
    3. Dont be afraid if you go the wrong way. Just be safe all the time
    4. If it gets quiet in the car, verbalise all the actions you are doing, even anticipations, it helps a lot. Both of you. I.e I'm checking my mirrors, im seeing this car ahead is turning right, so I'll slow down and change to 2nd gear..for example...
5 . Most important for last, consider the possibility that you might fail, and what your actions are after that. If you do this you will be much more relaxed, because the pressure of I GOTTA PASS is out of your shoulders.
    Hope it helps. 😊

Passed my test today and watched this video before. Defo came in handy being able to ask for a 10-15 second breather because I was mega nervous. Confirming directions with the instructor is also very helpful in areas which are rather busy or have multiple turns in the same direction next to eachother. Big thanks man :)

I will add a couple of tips from my side. I failed the first time and passed on subsequent attempt with 2 minors. In my first attempt, I was over-stressed on the last day and tried to re-watch all the videos, didn't properly sleep in the night and then drove to the centre (1 hour away ). So I was already tired a bit by the beginning of the test and made a serious fault in last minute at passenger crossing, just outside Mill Hill driving test centre. My suggestion would be to get ample rest before the test, pace out all the TH-cam lessons over long period of time than trying to cram things at eleventh hour. I also benefitted by attending a seminar arranged for prospective candidates by Hendon and Mill Hill centres by making them interact with examiners much before the test. If such an oppurtunity hits your email box, do not miss out. Even if there are no new tricks discovered, just by talking to examiners will help boost confidence and help understand how they think about it in terms of evaluation.

I had my 2nd test yesterday and I passed with only 3 minors and before I was getting picked up by my driving instructor from my house, I was shaking so much cuz like exams give me so much anxiety and like I had two bananas and after my first bite of my first banana, I felt calm and not that anxious anymore and it payed off xx I’m so glad it’s finally done and I hopefully won’t have to take it ever again

Make a discrete mark on the front windscreen wiper showing where the middle is, so when parking you can lign this mark up with the middle of the car in front or the wall you want to park up to. Cars used to have a feature to help align the vehicle but modern cars are like a bubble!

@@ZONDOdriving Hi! - I am not a driving instructor, but a friend helping an older driver to learn and get practice before their test. It has been quite a surprise for me to discover how car designs have changed as I mainly drive old Landrovers that have clean straight parallel sides. Modern cars are shaped like boats with curved sides and it is impossible to see how far the front of the car goes beyond the visible bonnet top. Your suggestions about reverse parking into a carpark space was brilliant!
Also, I am confused about the new road markings, what is the meaning of areas painted in red in the middle of roads? Also, what is the difference between red double lines and yellow double lines along the edge of a road?

Take your time 10 minutes and really slowly process the parking manoeuvre includes parallel & bay parking. The advantage is 1. They cannot fail you even if you take a whole day to manoeuvre in a safe condition.😅 2. You can always have plenty of time to observe your surroundings 3. This is way easy to claim hit the brake before anything happened ( 😂too slow that examiner can’t tell 😅you stop or not). 4. The longer the parking manoeuvre you taken, shorter the exam route go and less mistakes observed 😂.😮❤🎉

I have my test coming up tomorrow (May 5th) so hopefully I can put these tips to good use!
I also have a couple of tips of my own:
    1. As well as a banana, try eating some blueberries before your instructor picks you up as they are scientifically proven to help you concentrate on test day (it's also a good idea to have some chewing gum during the test)
    2. Adjust your window mirrors to be further out (but not by too much!) to exaggerate your mirror checks so the examiner knows you are actually looking in your mirrors (e.g. before giving a signal)
Sidenote: Number 2 is highly debateable as to it's effectiveness but do keep in mind that neglecting to check the mirrors is a very common reason for people failing their tests
EDIT 1: This is my second driving test after failing miserably on the first one

The terminology used in the thumbnail suggesting that you can “hack” your way through a driving test seems misleading and rather dangerous.
To pass a driving test successfully, be patient, practice practice practice and learn how to drive properly. Do not try to cheat your way through it. If you’re ready to drive you will pass. If you fail, it just means you need more practice. It’s about keeping the roads safe for everyone, not getting on the road as quickly as possible.

If you do not know the difference between left and right, and have to squeeze your hand or write it on yourself, you absolutely should not be driving at all. Knowing your left and right is probably the least complicated part of driving, so if you can’t do that, how can you do the rest

There's a literal syndrome that makes it difficult for people to REMEMBER which one is left and right. Just like numbers, some people need a bit of extra time to calculate. Ultimately that's what we all do, when we're told go left our brain calculates that left is ⬅️ and we go there.
What you've said is so ignorant as if it's a matter of education or someone's ability to know. It absolutely isn't. It just means they need a different level of help than your average leanred
