- Today we are DIY tiling my laundry room floor!! I am so excited to have another floor completed here at the house! We are using the same tile as we used in the downstairs bathroom, but we are using a different pattern. I think it turned out beautifully!!
Hey there! My name is Abby and I recently bought a MAJOR fixer upper house. I am SO excited to work on fixing it up this old house and turning it into my dream home. If you are looking to paint your cabinets, get alot of different individual color samples on paper from your store. Lay them on your floor not touching each other. You will see almost immediately what will and will not work. You want something to go with the brown-golden tone in your floor. I did this many times with clients. What they thought would work didn't, and they thought wouldn't, did. They came up with a finale few and chose from those colors. Works every time. 🙃
Find a rug you love & get your colors from that.
Have you considered wrapping this counter in stainless steel? Wood countertops is a high moister area could be difficult to maintain. Mold, mildew, wood swelling etc. I love the idea of a cover that folds over the sink to make a larger work surface so wouldn't want anything too heavy either.
Thanks for keeping me motivated during my backyard makeover! I was getting frustrated with all the rocks I found in an old flower bed and thought “if Abby can make over an entire house, I can do this”. I live in a historic town, so who knows what is under that flower bed? Praying that it’s left over from the previous house that sat here, and not something crazy 🤞🙏

Oh gosh. You are a brave woman using white grout! I’ve had it before and never again! Seal, seal and more seal!
right and honestly I would never do white or light colored ever again, biggest mistake, very hard to keep clean! vinyl or laminate that looks like wood planks, is much better!

The color of your green shirt ( as you asked about cabinet paint color) looks really nice in the laundry room. So maybe a shade of green , possibly color matching any wallpaper ( the leafy one your Mom liked?)or backsplash or artwork you might have in the laundry room. So happy for you Abby, finally getting to the pretty stuff!😻
If you are going to put in half curtains or valences in the laundry room maybe look at samples and pick a coordinating/complimentary color for the paint. Or vice versa - pick the paint color first.
Abbey I think you should go wild with a color from the wallpaper you are using. Liven it up since it is small and your “wash room”.😊

The flooring vids are my favorites! It changes everything when you finish a floor and that one turned out really nice! Barefoot Abby is the best Abby lol Hard working and making the dream come true! Light yellow or blue would look nice in there Abby :)
Best seal that grout or otherwise will be black in a few months from dirt.
Kittens are so cute. I’d keep the wood. You need some warmth in there if you have white walls, floors, and appliances. That’s all you see from the entrance. A wood board for folding doesn’t really change the fact.

Since it is a laundry room, I would recommend a Corian countertop. As for a color for your cabinets I think something clean & fresh looking perhaps a sage green or mint green.

Have you ever thought of a fold down folding table? I might put one across from your washer dryer, between the doorway and the window. Up when you need to fold, down when you are done.

Abby you always choose lovely materials and do a great job so whatever combination you choose for laundry room will be great. My only thoughts are regarding the durability of wood with all the chemicals and things that might stain. You may want to use a countertop that is less poruous.

What about a very soft, mellow yellow? That's what I put on three walls in my nursery, and it is such a relaxing and comfortable room. Your tile and cabinets are really nice!

I think a lovely blue green color on the cabinets would look so pretty with the tile...that blue green color popular in the 1920, not a grass green, in the DIY paint the color is called apothecary....I used that color on a vintage hoosier cabinet I inherited and I love it, the color almost to the shade matched the original, there was only a small bit of it left, my aunt who had the piece had stripped it, but she had missed that part so basically put the cabinet back like new when it was purchased in the 1920's. but whatever color you pick I think it will look great with the white floor and wood contertops.
Add the floor tiles as folding spot if you have enough. Then stain cabinets pretty wood color would look great.
I can see wood cabinets stained to match window trim and white countertops, especially in your kitchen. But wood countertop in laundry would be nice too with white or color of your choice on cabinets.
Great job on the tile! You are really conquering this house by leaps and bounds! Listen, just my opinion but, You have been just dying to put some color in somewhere. Paint the cabinets a lovely, soft dusty rose. I think that would be gorgeous. Hugs. 🥰 ( PS I've never had a real laundry room to play with. If I did, I'd have had some colorful fun with it, just because why not!) 😋
you could put a piece of your wallpaper on the wall in back of the sink ,and pick a color out of the wall paper and paint your cabinets inthe laundry room.
Yes washable cabinet surfaces is very sensible in a laundry room. Maybe a taupe color that looks good with your wall cover. A true taupe matches everything.

Hi Abbie I would suggest either a soft Sage Green or a Wedgewood Blue. Great job, it looks smooth much nearer a finished look now. EXCITING!😅

Like the idea of painting those cabinets. What color are the washer dryer. ? Black. ? Gray ? White ? choose your color based on that. You will see those appliances before the cabinets. But whatever you choose, I’m sure we’ll be perfect.

This is more for your last video on the lights, but I have very similar ceilings to you in our loft where our bedroom is. We just switched to a basket style fan or caged style fan I guess and it is much more powerful than I thought it would be and works great with our vaulted weird ceilings.

I vote for a taupe color. There is a color called Pashmina by BM that would pick up on the tile colors.
