  • Cory had a really busy day last Thursday and I'm glad we got to show it. From floating the CAT 308 , to installing a new culvert, and then excavating a full septic bed... He had this hands full!

    Keep up the great videos and content!!!
    Like how you do fewer videos since the content seems to be better. Not that the videos before weren't great but just seems that their not rushed. I hate responding like this since all your videos are great but just wanted to answer since you had asked way back.
    As for raises for your staff I totally agree. They all work hard and do quality work without you having to be their all the time. That means the world since I use to have my own company and had several employees that could run my projects if I couldn't be there for the day.
    I would always give them incentives like if the project got done earlier they would be rewarded weekly at least 3 to 4 hundred in cash.
    Also, at least twice a week I would by them lunch. This happened always on Friday and Saturday. I wish I could continue but I have retired after 35 years. I did this for 20 years faithfully since they appreciated it and they always performed well for me. Something to think about???
    It was just like buying the truck for Corey. That was great but their is Cody that has learned well running the machine and I know it's his first year but is doing great!!!
    Also, their is Al your main "Black Gold" guy!!!! If he didn't make such great soil maybe WCI wouldn't be buying so much!!!
    Keep up the great work and take care of the guys Lol!!! and you will have them forever.

    Does he know he demanded the "idiot end" of the tape measure? Why would the foreman hold the idiot end? He's not a stupervisor is he? Seriously, though, nice to see a foreman that still knows how to roll up his sleeves and dive in. Well deserving of a raise, especially since he obviously has kids, and families are expensive these days. Great vid overall. I've just started getting into y'all's stuff, but I'm definitely enjoying it.

    Huge pet peeve of mine is operators that have both door and window shut. Can’t hear anything around you if there’s an emergency. I always kept both open whether it was 100 degrees out or -15. Huge safety issue but other than that I enjoy all the content

    • @KenWhiteConstruction
      @KenWhiteConstruction  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      see I'm the opposite, I hate when they have them open as I want to keep the inside clean, thats hwy they are climate controlled, to solve the not hearing issue, we use walkie talkie and have constant communication from operator to ground. also if we are clearing brush or moving material I rather have the window smash than my guy get impaled. love your outlook on it though and I appreciate the contrast in our way of doing things! thank you for the support!

    • @davelockyer518

    • @pjfeeney06
      @pjfeeney06 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Lockyer actually I do leave my window open. Any other questions smartass? Are you an operator? If you were you’d understand my point of view

    • @davelockyer518
      @davelockyer518 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pjfeeney06 yes I am an operator for the last 30 years I keep door and windows shut for this reason if you ever had a 70 tonner boom hydraulic line burst with super hot oil in it you'd be thankful you had your front window shut also to keep the dust out I like to keep the cab clean I keep window clean so visibility isn't a problem have a two radio so communication isn't a problem also have cameras on counter weight and on my blind side also the computer let's you know if anything is wrong with the engine

    • @pjfeeney06
      @pjfeeney06 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Lockyer I get having window shut if your afraid of a line bursting but not both window and door. Dust and dirt can be cleaned out so that’s not a great excuse. Video and radios are all well and good but nothing will get your attention to stop quicker than a guy in the trench yelling to you. Those extra few seconds it’ll take for him to get to his radio makes all the difference if you rip something out of the ground or not that could potentially harm that laborer. Relying on computers is also not the greatest. You can hear the motor making different sounds quicker than the computer telling you something. Now if your just loading end dump after end dump clearing land and what not, that situation I can see having everything shut but you’ll never change my mind when you have laborers in the trenches

    • @Tlclrb

    • @Forestryman707
      @Forestryman707 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travis C I guess some people do it differently but I know here in California a lot of the low bedders go over the side or over the back to save time.

    • @corylurette6178
      @corylurette6178 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s just the way I was comfortable doing it. I don’t get a chance to operate and load and unload often so I stick to what I know to avoid problems that being said I will practice side loading and unloading in the yard not on a road when I get some time!! Thanks for the comments

    • @KenWhiteConstruction
      @KenWhiteConstruction  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I totally get what your saying, this is just how we do it, I have never side loaded or gone over the back, although I can’t go over the back of mine as I would need ramps. But yes, just different ways to do it, that’s all.
