- Pre-Save the new single "Circle The Drain" at nblast.de/MachineHeadPreSave. In March 2018 Robb began work on a new song, over the next 6 months a crazy series of events would lead to what would become Machine Head's new track "Circle The Drain", but not before some hysterical detours, and some downright sad moments.

This is sounding pretty fascinating so far. Love the layering - one of the best parts of the newer material generally. Jared's channeling Howard Jones for the chorus and it really works. Can't wait!

Chris left MH to be a bmx racer lol, so he obviously needed the cash...and Logan has been playing with a band no one knows.....so yeah, he needed the money too. So.......your point was?

I love the process of creation and it sounds great ! I love your abnegation and your musician goal which still goes on ! No matter the situation you guys listen to your soul and create songs ! Music is a light in a tunnel, not a shadow behind the corner to kick you in the back. Music will always be a solution in life and nothing else. Honestly, I prefer Jared's take on the chorus here. Sounds more even with that simple alt.metal riff in the chorus. The final version sounds like vocal melody goes faster and more aggressive than the music it's on top of.
This is a really good song, even if it's not released yet. I really like the guitar ideas of Rob. It would be great to hear it in full version. Hopefully with Vogg on guitar, it would be weird to hear a ballad being played by him 😁 Fingers crossed for Circle the Drain.

@@Taurus1337 you can hear those clean moments during this movie that's why I thought that it might be a ballad. They had a couple similar songs for example Descend the Shades of Night. Peace

Even I really miss a little bit of your old unique wrong and pressed singing style, it's just awesome to hear what you can do with your voice today - this octave-jumps in screaming sounds really impressing! And it's really nixe to see here all the progress with all that "awkward" failing till you reach the point of success. Also to hear that voice-memos with this simple rough ideas and how a creative process of creating a song can start. Thanks a lot! You became a real living legend, Robb! :)

Good to see the creative process
Machine head sounds at its best when you can feel it’s authenticity and that it’s coming straight from some raw emotions. This feels very genuine and I’m liking the direction of this song, Loving that Jared is singing more because he’s an underrated vocalist.

Robb , my inspiration!!! I've got few old phones with beatbox shit and other crazy stuff like this. Inspires me to try and put my stuff down on lock at studio! Keep Rockn Everyone!!!
I know that there are working and functional one man shows and in fact, this can be pretty great if everyone is fine with it. I and some buddies wrote music that way with me as composer and singer with my buds having basically no input because they chose not to, not because I didn't let them. In fact I basically forced them to classic jamming sessions so that everyone could connect with the material and ideally, new songs would be written together. But that all was just good fun to have and was in the end nothing but a hobby for us and that's fine.
But the way Rob works chokes out so much creativity and takes away possible ideas of others, before they even got the chance to come up with them. It's unreasonably controlled, almost sterile and I almost expect him to leave others no breathing room. Well, at least the former members seem to doing well. Or at least that's what I heard.
Always my favorite metal band, so creative and epic live shows...
As much as I lost interest in MH after many years - this sounds awesome and I can't wait to hear it once it's done. As someone hear wrote - it has this Through The Ashes vibe to it, which is good, TTAOE is one of my fav albums of all time.

IMO, Machine Head isn’t a band anymore, it’s a Robb Flynn solo project........which is fine, but to me, it’s not MH anymore. It seems glaringly obvious why Phil and Dave left the band....Robb just wants to write everything and have his way. To me a band is a band and everyone has input in each song or at least everyone likes the songs being written. Again just my opinion but when you replace multiple members of a band....all the way down to the last two standing and have to have “hired guns” replace band members, the original vision of the band becomes very watered down. As a result ,the music in this case becomes very watered down too. When you have a riff let’s say, and you have 3 or 4+ more people to bounce ideas off of, you end up with a better product. You think Jared is going to tell Robb “well that riff is pretty weak, try a different one”?........or..”let’s make this song heavier etc”........probably not, he will just go with whatever Robb wants to keep his paying music gig.
By the way, this pains me to say all of this, MH and Vio-lence are 2 of my favorite bands OF ALL TIME. With all that said, I hope the new MH album is better than the last couple...........but based on watching this video it won’t be, it will just be another Catharsis album........a Robb Flynn solo album. Ironically “circle the drain” is a perfect name for the song........and maybe the album, because it’s what MH seems to be doing.......circling the drain.

I've been having this same thought a lot recently. I love MH but I agree with a lot that you said.
It has always been his band.
Some very true words, I love mh and is my favourite band, a big part of help in my life.
To me, a band can write music in whatever the hell way they want as long as I enjoy the result. I still agree that most of the time multiple opinions are the clear choice, but I think Robb himself is just a terrific song composer and knows how to structure and arrange to keep his tracks interesting. I still really miss Dave and Phil, but you don't create music for the sake of others. It has always sort of been Robb's band, and he will keep doing what he loves because that's what most of us musicians do, which I respect strongly.

Next LP won't be heavy i can tell
I can't tell you you'll like it, and there's no LP planned(Robb has stated several times he wants to just release songs as they're finished), but the majority of it is pretty damn heavy. This is probably the "least" heavy song of the bunch so far and it's pretty heavy as well. A lot of anger/aggression on new tracks if Do or Die wasn't an obvious sign of that.

For a non-drummer beat boxing probably works better. Imagine telling the producer on phone all different cymbals and which tom comes when etc.
