Slippin Away was a hit for Max in 1976.
R.I.P. - News - 24.09.2020 - ARIA Hall of Fame artist Max Merritt has died aged 79 in a Los Angeles hospital after being diagnosed with Goodpasture Syndrome, a rare serious auto-immune disease that attacks the lungs and kidneys. Merritt is best known for his 1975 hit Slippin’ Away, He was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2008.
Hey, I didn’t realise Max Merrit had passed. Let’s keep this song alive. RIP Max
Now that's a fantastic duet, RocKwiz was great for that.
Goodbye Max Merritt who died today. It's so sad you slipped away. Gone but never forgotten.
Love this duet! Both compliment each other. Great song from the good days.
The thing I really like about these duets is that whatever people think, the oldies prove there's life in the old dogs yet. I haven't seen a bad performance from the seasoned pro's like Max, Brod Smith, Doug Parkinson, Russell Morris etc. They can all still sing!
1ST off r.l.p max. Nothing but super people on Rockwiz. I like 99% of all the of the performances on this sow
Suzi Q
Jeez. They are hardly "oldies".
Am I the only one left in this world that listens to this masterpiece 😥😥😥😥
Max owned this song purely through his voice. R.I.P. (1941-2020) 🎶 🎵
RIP MAX - for me this version you did with Catherine is just the best duet ever.
They combine superbly
Still sounds great in 2023
Vale Max Merritt. Best known for his 1975 hit Slippin’ Away, with his band Max Merritt and The Meteors, which reached number two while his other well known hit was Western Union Man.
😔😔😔 we love you max. From New Zealand 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿Your hometown. The world knows your song 😊😊😊😊
Catherine is brilliant ❤
you lucky lucky bastards in the live audience... and WOW Max what a performance
Amazing, beautiful song
R.I.P LEGEND so very sad you slowly slipped away but this song will never slip away once a hit forever a hit
If people don't know the Stewie that Max referred to, it was Stewie Speer the drummer for his band the Meteors from 1967 and was in the big car prang the band were involved in. Stewie had his legs crushed and lost the top of some fingers. Max lost an eye. Max is another Kiwi by the way!
It's great to see the respect in Catherine's eyes when she looks at Max.
So sad to hear you have left us to go to Rock N Roll Heaven RIP Max 30/4/1941- 24/9/2020 Same birthday mates

This was mum's favourite song sadly Mum slipped away in my arms in 2008🕯️🙏
Best ever duets song
Great version of the song. Loved watching Rockwiz when I lived in Australia.
His voice was still fabulous !!!! World class hit. No enough people probably heard this classic
One of the greatest pop songs of all time. A true Kiwi classic and an East Coast favourite (the hallmark of excellence).
R.I.P. Max....saw you live in the 60s....
'Slipping Away' was such a change in style for Max Merritt when it came out in the 70's, yet it has become an Australian classic that just never gets old. Max was also a classic who was taken before he really got old, but he has left us with the gift of his music. Let it slide Max.....
We all are going to get very very old. He sounds terrific even though he is very very old😂
Max Merritt and the Meteors, backed up by the Red Onion Jazz Band playing in the Essendon Technical School assembly hall in 69. Rock me baby!
Beautifully sung. I can watch this over and over.
My Dad's favourite song. RIP Dad. I love and miss you every day.
The best version of a already brilliant song . That lady nailed it .
just fantastic!! Catherine does a great job of this timeless classic. ❤❤❤❤❤
2024 first time I have seen this. Cheers from NZ
I have enjoyed this track for many decades. It came out in 1975. Another brilliant track by a Kiwi. Well done from an Aussie.
R.I.P Max.
OMG his voice is just gorgeous - lovely duet.
Thank you Max. R.I.P.
This is just tremendous. Max's vocals are every bit as good as they were 35 years ago. And Catherine's voice is the perfect match for Max. Her skill in moving from melody to harmony and back again is magnificent! I've played this a dozen times today.
She sings very good this song. What beautful song ❤️👍💚💞
Rockwiz just popped up in my recommendations and I don't mind that at all. Max Merritt wow, this song certainly brings back memories.
Definitely one of the best duets ever peformed on rockwiz. Max Merrit is wonderfual and I absolutely adore the song Slipping Away. Catherine has a lovely voice and it works in well with Max's. Thankyou for posting this clip.
2 years gone mate. Always remembered. Sadly missed.
So many great memories, from seeing him as a young boy at Sunbury music festival in 1972 to watching my hippie parents dancing around the house to the album .Out of the blue .. in mid seventies .. beautiful song and beautiful voice
RIP Max
Thanks Max for giving us so much pleasure listening to your music.
Rest in peace ✌️
Wow. Max’s voice is outstanding and a perfect match to Catherine. My favourite Rockwiz video
Heard this song way back in 1983 and oh boy, four decades down the line this one still touches that a chord deep within 💜💞❤️
This CLASSIC performance gets better and better every time I watch.
Their TIMING is PERFECT!
One of my all time favourites just grabs you.
Great Aussie classic by a great Aussie legend

@@davidbosnia4141 yes you are absolutely correct
RIP Max Merritt , Slippin Away is a hauntingly beautiful song that always brings a tear to the eye, especially knowing you have slipped away :( and on my birthday.
Thank you Max , rest in peace
Vale Max. I had no idea he was so ill. He was diagnosed with Goodpasture Syndrome, a rare auto-immune disease which attacks the kidneys and he was faced with thrice weekly dialysis treatment, which continued until his death. So, to get up and perform like this is just phenomenal.
Thanks for the Music Max
those voices together yum
Classic. So sad he's passed on.. but left memories that are timeless

He was a phenomenal entertainer.
News of his death today saddened me. Such a horrific way to go. Death is not a respecter of how people leave us. 25/9/2020

Beautiful duet and Max voice is amazing, so clear
Nearly brought a tear to my eye.
RIP Maximus a true kiwi gladiator 😥you never stopped fighting and gave some truely remarkable send offs to your friends. May you jam on in heaven Max and god bless 👍✌

He sounded just like his recording. This song evokes so much emotion on so many levels. The sign of a brilliant singer, he knew just how to deliver it. I will always love this gorgeous song Max, thank you, sleep tite. 💗
Wow,wow, wow what voices what a song well done.
When he shifts it up an octave or key he proves age has nit dimmed his amazing vocal...she is superb!

So beautiful. Most love.
So wonderful. This song was on the charts the year i started getting into music, and it's one of the greatest Aussie hits but yes Max is a New Zealander so it's a NZ hit. Who is this beautiful lady who sings it so well with him? RIP Max.
fantastic
Incrível!!!! Faltou a Catherine tão linda em tudo, ter tido mais espaço e cantado mais. Lindo lindo! Desde o Brasil
Beautiful.
excellent.........R.I.P. max
Didn't think that you could come near the original recording of that song, and I hadn't heard of Catherine Britt, but this version is brilliant. She totally complements Max's vocals and is a uniquely outstanding singer in her own right. Nice tribute to Stewie. From the concerts, I vividly remember the hair, the cap, the beard and the eyes. We lost him almost 30 years ago. Thanks for posting.
I'm akiwi and I remember this from the 70s but I so LOVE Catherine Britt ..she IS amazing!
hell no
No she sux
@@brunoramone601 you wish
