Mike Kelley is the best guest critique person. Always has good informative suggestions and sees things I would never even think about except when he says he would like to see a Volvo next door.
I think we all agree, Mike critiques are always the most constructive and fun to watch. Also the fact that he enjoys a good Volvo just further conveys that he has excellent taste.
36:00 I think the lighting is somewhat interesting. Nonetheless, I do agree with Lee about the composition. The composition as is would make more sense to me, if the curtains were opened as it would drag you into the ocean. Now it looks like blown-out highlights. And the lights hanging down the ceiling are so jumbled up. Or is that art? 37:30 Very well spotted, Lee! I actually like Lee critiquing architecture. It's a nice combination with Mike. Lee goes more towards the "perfection" look - as much as I do in my architectural work - while Mike has gone a long road toning it down. Really interesting. And I think both have very valid POVs in this critique.
Lee Morris and Mike Kelley together are really awesome. Great info in every episode I saw so far. Much better than with that guy who doesn't want to wear socks/shoes .
I was surprised to hear Mike Kelley object to interiors with the color caste sucked out of the white walls; i would have thought he used that technique. The super white walls/de-saturated colors seems the prevailing look that i see in magazine after magazine, and published interiors shots, advertisement work etc . It's a pretty good look.
I think shot at 38:16 would look better if there no curtains covering view the ocean and I love Mike Kelley so much I can't wait to purchase he next where art meets architecture series 4 I currently have 2 thinking to purchase the 3rd one he's best
In no way are those trash cans a detriment to the scene nor do they bother me. I'm often bothered by minor details which become a large issue. That shot is perfect and in every way a "5!"
I like the change of not necessarily giving tutorials to the highest rated images where it seems they clearly are doing great on their own, and instead giving to the ones you think could actually benefit the most from them.
As an old school hobbyist, (started in the late 1970’s), and having recently dipped my toe into making money with photography, I can’t help but wonder about the distinction between the terms available light and so-called natural light. All light is natural. It doesn’t matter what the source is, it’s still natural. I would prefer to see a return to the use of the term available light as available light is what’s there. Whether it’s sunlight, moonlight, or even an artificial source of light that exists because it was constructed there such as street lights or whatever, it is available light, the light that exists at the time of shutter release.
Maybe it's just me. But that one shot they gave a tutorial to is just so blown out (to me). I can't get past it. I honestly thought they were going to give it a 1 or 2 rating for being so overexposed. I was shocked it got a 4.
I appreciate Mike Kelly’s work very much. I like Fstoppers. I just do not get what you guys are doing sitting together at a table chatting during a pandemic without masks. Am I not understanding something?
The horizontal and vertical lines of the third image are slightly off (particulary at the far right and the top of the image). I'm shocked that Mike didn't pick up on in... Mike, lift your game buddy, not knowing that an image of a kitchen that you are critiquing is literally right in front of you is one thing, but not noticing that an image of a kitchen is out by 2mm is unforgivable!
Laaaaaads don't be travelling during a pandemic! Stay safe. Enjoyed this week but would like poorer images to be included for illustration and further learning points.
I have the problem with many(not all) of these images in that they look like renderings. Maybe that's what people want but I don't see the point of replicating a bit of CGI
It's not that the exterior view is pasted in, but a technique called flambient (flash ambient blend) where a special shot is taken to overexpose the interior, exposing the exterior properly, then a simple exposure blending is done in Photoshop to take out the overexposed interior, leaving a nicely exposed exterior window view. Taken to extremes it can look unnatural, but if the exterior view is part of the marketing, it serves the purpose of the imagery, which is selling the space.
25:30 I can make those trash cans disappear in Photoshop in 5 minutes. It's not that difficult, Lee. There's enough floor, wall and concrete to sample from.
using cinematic techniques and telling a story aren't the same thing. the juxtaposition of a shadow to an object can tell a story. all images tell stories.
At 24 minutes- move the entire chandelier over in photoshop. If you look closely at the lights, she is lined up perfectly on them. If she moved an inch or 2 to the right, they will no longer line up
Can someone pls tell me what's the fascination with the gender reveal BS? Why can't people wait for the baby to born? And its either a boy or girl (sjws can take a hike who don't want to atta he gender) and would you love the child any less whatever gender it was. I never understood this shit.
I dislike these photo critiques intensely. And I find myself liking Michael Kelly less and less and less. What all these photographers did, is what they did in the situation they worked with. We could easily critique your photos, Michael. But who cares? I had an older photographer friend years ago. He would never fail to critique something in a shot, showing no interest in the situation when the photo was taken. He really doesn't have any friend's left.
Peoplo submit their images of their free will. And everything every single one of the people who did so, did it because they want to improve. If someone can't deal with criticism then they hardly will improve. I can agree there is ways of conveying said critiques, but in any way, shape or form, has Mike or Lee been disrespectful. You can often hear him say that he doesn't know in which situation the person was in, but IF possible he would do certain things to improve it. It happened several times during this critique. If you didn't hear it, then that is on you.
Mike Kelley is the best guest critique person. Always has good informative suggestions and sees things I would never even think about except when he says he would like to see a Volvo next door.
I thought a SAAB would be nice.
It doesn't matter how many situps you do in the morning, when you get hit by a Volvo.
MK always adds a touch of class and sophistication to these reviews
I think a good change with the giveaways is to give one random one and one to the person you guys think could benefit the most from it.
Or one favourite and one that could benefit
I like that idea. Maybe one favorite, one highest-rated and one that shows promise, but would benefit from improvement.
This went buy quickly, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Mike Kelly is the perfect guest critique.
You guys’ chemistry is special! I’ve been enjoying going back and binging community critiques. My favorites are with you guys!
One of the best critiques I have watched, very informative but still fun to watch.
So good. Mike and Lee is an awesome combo. You get along great
I think we all agree, Mike critiques are always the most constructive and fun to watch. Also the fact that he enjoys a good Volvo just further conveys that he has excellent taste.
Mike’s critiques are the best. Made ‘Fro cry.
Mike’s ‘clairvoyance’ comment is the most important, of the critique! We all need to remember that when hearing critiques.
Loving Mikes new Flock of seagulls look.
Who's biggest hit was, coincidentally, Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)!
Continues to be my favorite series on youtube
Man, I love these w/ Mike.
Love these architectural critiques! Great insights. 👍🏻

I want to say about the photo at 20:22. There is a asymmetric balance which is not eassy to manage. So it deserves to be appreciated, in my opinion.
The first image is a fine art picture: take a look at the perfect simmetry!
Man all those pictires were so great, hell even the kitchen one wasn't too bad!
I love chemistry between them.
Very instructive video!

Awesome idea about free tutorials more people finally will be honest in rating the photos hopefully 😉
i miss content like this more..
more entertaining and more insight technical architecture photography
In no way are those trash cans a detriment to the scene nor do they bother me. I'm often bothered by minor details which become a large issue. That shot is perfect and in every way a "5!"
the original crop of the second photo looks better to me. that bright room shot is gorgeous. would love to see a lady silhouette on the balcony...
Just prior to the 30 minute mark, hilarious. Lee is a modern day comic genius. I would pay $399.00 for an F-Stoppers best of pranks videos.
I need know who the photographer is that takes photos of bodies beside the hole digging. Anyone?
What is the song at the very beginning of the video?

New project/tutorial with MK?
Yep, we got some killer stuff in LA but we still have a ton of editing and post-processing to film.
Fstoppers can’t wait for it 🔥🔥🔥
I agree with Mike's opinion on the crop for the really boring kitchen island shot.
Finally again.
Nice, I am learning something. Dear Mike Kelley, I want to challenge you! Can we do a competition?

I thought so too, when it came up on the screen I had to put shades on! 😎
So Mike’s the guy that came up with the idea of the planes overlaid over each other on takeoff? The first I saw it was after the Icelandic volcano
yesss
Of all the options a Volvo. Hahah. But I'm on your side Mike.
i don't think they pasted in the outside, I think they window pulled.
Yeah, Mike was right with his "Sloterdijk"
Whats happening with mikes hair in this one..?
It's not rain river it's rine river. Rhein in German elongates the i

The black white picture was really deep, I think you guy's didn't give it enough credit?

Phew, i love your critique videos, but right now I'm 20 minutes in and already have seen 5 ads. Bit much?

maybe, just maybe, those nasty wildfires have something to do with people flying around the globe or driving 100.000 $ SUVs too.,
Second!
