Believe me, as a US citizen, I do not comprehend how this orange circus has come so far. When I talk to Trumpers, they all spew the same rhetoric. This country is so divided, and the Trumpers are so firm in their beliefs, often to the point of spewing hateful comments to people they once considered friends. People are no longer speaking with civility and no longer associating with people from the other side. Even families are divided. It’s profoundly embarrassing and disappointing.
The majority of us will NOT vote for him but unfortunately in our presidential election system, you can lose the popular vote and win the Electoral College vote (which is the states electing the president not the people)
In 2016 Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the EC so Trump got in. And we were stuck with him for 4 years….
Way back in 2000 Gore won the popular vote but W Bush won the EC vote so we were stuck with him for 8 years.

As a masters student who was born in 1999, I never once in my life received a letter. Technological innovation (email, text, etc.) has rendered the knowledge unnecessary at best and useless at worst. The ONLY reason I know how to address a letter is because my mom insisted on handwritten thank you cards opposed to digital ones for my undergrad graduation. There’s a reason why no one under the age of 30 know how to use a typewriter. You can’t know what no one teaches you.
I'm in my 40s, and if I didn't have a side business selling things through the mail, I could count on my fingers the number of times in my life I've had to address a letter.

Yeah we’re old, when you were a kid I’m sure you never wanted to write a letter. We had a lesson in school on how to write an envelope and most of the kids probably hated it.

Addressing envelope business was jaw-droppingly shocking!!! Something so simple, something children knew how to do at least by middle school age! Some of them were actually in college?! How?!!!

The letter sending bit was sad. None of the kids knew where to put what on the envelope, but I was surprised they could still write a few words in cursive script.
I used to love sending/receiving letters to family and friends. Still write the odd one across the country and to Australia as I'm not on social network.
