Okay anyone can be a asshole sometimes I like J. Cole though he seems like a pretty positive person and everyone only has nice things to say about him in interviews.
I feel like Cole has confidence issues that makes it hard for me to really get into his music. Like the “Anyone can get it! I’m the goat!” Turns to “I’m so sorry.” Like it feels like he goes through the motions of a “goat” but I never FEEL it from him
I feel like youre projecting your own insecure thought process on to an introverted reflective song writer who puts his heart in his music. And can spit venomous bars at people. Yall act like being hard makes you a dope artist, thats wack as all hell. Youre basically missing the good parts of being a j. Cole fan.
That's a silly way to decide to not listen to good music. Yeah, he's a brilliant poet who makes great music, but I don't think he take Tyson in a street fight so F em.
I’ve always felt that Cole was bitter over Kanye never acknowledging him despite all the hero worship he was doing on his earlier work. I don’t think Cole drops False Prophets without first seeing Kanye praise Kendrick, Drake, and Chance over him.
@@Trizzy-d1f That’s where my “who knows” came from. lol. Maybe Nas wasn’t the biggest fan of the track itself, but he had to have appreciated what Cole represents.
If Cole and Kanye weren’t both so sensitive, they could’ve had teasing jabs back and forth for years because Ye was being playful. I think Cole has imposter syndrome to Drake’s cosplaying.
@@antarchy1That's not how "imposter syndrome" works though. Imposter syndrome is the mentality where you struggle with believing that you are qualified for the position you are in, or that you are who you profess yourself to be. Imposter syndrome is a word for people who lack confidence in themselves. They are authentically that person, or qualified for the position, but they always feel like "I shouldn't, or don't deserved be here."
I was actually just listening to that episode of Inevitable where Cole was talking about his shots at Kanye yesterday. It was wild because I think that Good Fridays joint was the first time I really started to pay attention to him, so to get that added info about what the verse was really getting at was golden. There's another story about how hyped Cole was when pitching Workout to Jay-Z, and Jay thought it was just fine. During that same meeting he played Jay another song where his heart wasn't in it, and Jay thought it was fire. Cole told Jay he couldn't release it because he thought it was trash. Jay went along with it. After the story they played the song... it indeed was garbage. Also another wild story, which Rob Markman talked about on his channel, was Jay basically telling Drake to get Cole a hit in front of Future and others. Cole then confronts Jay later. When he does Jay-Z admits to being wrong. A lot of Cole's stories make Jay-Z seem really reasonable as a boss.
J. Cole vs Kanye is like a bizarro-world "Kendrick vs Drake" that never really panned out into anything fun 😭😭😭 I remember way back on Born Sinner (Cole's 2nd album) hearing that Kanye shot like he REALLY wanted to publicly have that kind of moment
I have listened to 5 or 6 of the episodes from J.Cole so far. The summary that was provided by DX lacks a lot of context. Cole wasn't dissing Jeezy. Cole was inspired by Jeezy and the crowds and shows that Jeezy was doing. Cole credits him as the one that he saw early on, and inspired him and what he aspired for the shows, especially how the crowd responds. Cole took Kanye's tone about him personally, but Kanye wasn't dissing Cole. Cole states that Kanye wasn't purposely slighting him, but rather hadn't really gotten into Cole when a reporter asked Kanye about getting Cole on one of his tracks, and Kayne's response was not impassioned toward Cole, but rather that of not really being into Cole yet. Cole went in on the track like he had something to prove (Like "this dude doesn't know that he is supposed to respect me, Imma show him).
If you're curious about what Nas felt when he heard "Let Nas Down" check out Nas' response on the song "Made Nas Proud" - the whole track is a direct response. Dope moment.
Ye nudging his verse is def a little sub back at him that only Cole would notice cuz the audience would have no clue. I still think Cole had the best verse on Looking For Trouble & can't even tell it was nudged because its still on time
J Cole mentions in the last episode of the audio podcast he felt comfortable, too comfortable after dropping FHD and doing what it did. Being able to catch up on Netflix shows, having money and spending time with his wife. That other artists/ rappers in the past felt the same after they made it. "It felt like The Fall Off, but that's for another time"
Nas made "Made Nas Proud" after hearing "Let Nas Down". He said Cole took what he said wrong and have more explanation in the song, then shared how/why he made Nas proud. It's a great song.
9:20 the most we know is what Nas said on the Remix to Let Nas Down (which makes this whole story even more incredible and is an overlooked moment in HipHop)

Cole produced “Hii Power” for Kendrick Lamar, and told Dr. Dre to sign Kendrick. Kanye is a great producer, He very rarely writes, and Pusha T ran his record label. Lol.
