  • David Archuleta talks about "Hell Together," which was inspired by the real-life story of his mother choosing to leave the Mormon church to support him, and also how he's been living his best life since coming out as LGBTQ+.

I definitely relate to what David was saying about how he used to try to win others’ approval.
It’s something that’s difficult to break away from, being queer myself and having lived in environments not so welcoming to that. But I think he’s ultimately right. People want to be seen and loved for who they are (and they should be).
    Thanks for the interview. 🙏

Thank you, yet again, Lyndsey Parker for this interview with the remarkable David Archuleta! Although the interview itself ended rather abruptly, I found it most interesting!
It's a good thing, David likes to talk and goes on when asked a question and it's a good thing I like to listen to him!! His speaking voice has interesting tonal qualities that get my attention and the process of what he says, I find fascinating!! To someone not paying attention, it might seem muddled and lengthy, but his unique approach and articulate process has a finesse all his own. He generously considers all the variables, nuances and considerations and the correct words to use to complete a whole perspective or more, that is or that are viable. He hones in on how best to explore complex issues and gives voice to this for our benefit and understanding, which he eventually does!! So much to consider, etc., etc.
I'm thinking his stamina must be off the charts! To maintain a hectic career and go through a life changing crisis and deal with it and bring out your identity as well as a persona that may be and is perceived differently by many people, I'm sure can take its toll!!! I'm awe struck and have so much respect for him and those close to him that support him!
I listened to his statement about the undergarments he always wore and I thought about how those were his cocoon that he emerged from and transformed into a regal butterfly that is soaring to new free heights!!! In his own words: "I'm goin' up up up up up up up" (David Archuleta).

As a gay Reform Mormon (not an LDS), I fully support David--as does every Reform Mormon I know.

I can see that David is making sure that he explained about what he knows and believes about the church and not making wrong information about our doctrine. I can see that he really believes the doctrine about the church and he knows his relationship with God. Only God can judge us, we don't really know, at least not 100% sure, that we will be in the highest kingdom because God will only be the one who will judge us.
For whatever reason he leaves the church, that would be between him and God. No one has the right to judge his decision. God loves us because we are and because He is.

David is an awesome man. David should definitely like himself. Everyone else should love him too. We do love you David
We should remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.
