I have to disappoint you. They are both PWM. But MPPT would not be a good choice for a wind turbine anyways... Wouldn't be fast enough. MPPT works better with solar panels, where voltage is much more stable.

the MPPT one is more efficient at low wind speed so its more suitable for permanent magnet axial flux generators like the ones used for VAWT because VAWT usually works at low wind speeds. for HAWT designs it makes no difference since the turbine is installed at considerate height and will spin at higher rpms.

Okey, so what is the result? I have tried the i500. Very hard to spin. Does it even react to wind?

How long does it take for a wind generator to charge up a battery

  • @TheWickerShireProject

Due to amp generation we now know that both are PWM and we're getting ripped off! heh great!

  • @Bonguirie

    All are pwm

This is not a real MPPT controller it may boost, but wont buck control , like real MPPT controllers would

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. My notes from it show at around 500 rpm the "MPPT" @ 1.14A & PWM @ 0.99A (+15% more output) and at 550 rpm 2.38A vs 2.15A respectively ((+12% more output)). Maybe the "low wind boost" actually does something? Not a great deal, but over 10 hours, that's an extra 1.5A - which on a small setup like a boat is better than a poke in the eye... Mousa shows more circuitry than expected in the orange controller in this video
