Before anybody dares say this was a 'wake-up call', ask yourself how many 'wake-up calls' we have had this season. Malmö was a wake-up call. Dundee United was a wake-up call. Sparta Prague was a wake-up call. Aberdeen was a wake-up call (x2). Ross County was a wake-up call. They're obviously not working so the team must be in a coma.

@@cjnovo992 It's an absolute embarrassment, CJ. The current crop of players we've got have been given enough so-called 'wake-up calls'. They either simply can't cut it or they don't want to try and cut it. It makes no difference. The squad needs a major overhaul next summer. I don't think even half of the first team should remain by next season.
@@melowgee7227 If I was Gio I would appoint my own Captain, bench Goldson, Barasic and Kent and let them earn their place back. Gerrard created a group who even when they didn't perform he picked them. So they have gotten too comfortable and too assured of the jersey. They need a shock from the boss. Not a pals act like Gerrard had. Gio needs to change things up. No more sitting back. I believe in Gio and I believe there are twists and turns yet.

As always a top notch assessment of the game CJ. As a Celtic supporter I am obviously delighted with the result but I am not niave enough to think that Celtic will now go on and win the league. I have been going to Old Firm matches for over 60 years and the good old times are returning where every game is on a knife edge with no forgone conclusion. The league is still up for grabs and the real winners here will be the fans. Good to see you back in top form CJ. Keep well and look forward as always to your videos.

What worries me is the amount of goals we are leaking. I honestly had a bad feeling going into this game, we’ve been playing poorly, inviting teams to score, making schoolboy errors and not pressing teams any more. I hope Gio finds a solution soon or Celtic could actually run away with this. How bad does a treble for them sound?

From a Celtic fan cj given a balanced view on the the , very surprised how tepid your team was , almost to easy even having Morelos would have made no difference. Sometimes just need to admit the better team won on the day simple as that .

I'm gutted, but not by getting beaten. Well done to Ange and his team, they smelt blood and went for the jugular. The lack of effort, concentration and desire from the Rangers players was hard to believe. Barasic, Kamara and Taverneir were the worst of a terrible lot. I will not blame Gio and his staff, his tactics/formation, or the ref for this defeat. The blame lies squarely on our players. It was telling when Jack & Balogun come on way short on match sharpness and were instantly our best players. WATP
That was scary CJ… That performance reminded me of the banter years under Caixinha and Murty. Couldn’t even lay a glove on them and it was utterly embarrassing. Arfield tried hard, McGregor showed why he’s still our number one and a Ryan Jack looked good again but other than that - shambolic.
Fair play , he’s very honest , doesn’t do the whole bigotry stuff and all that , he’s just a guy doing what he loves same as I and most of others watching would do, it’s just he supports a different team , that’s it simple as that. Wish you all the best in the future

Celtic played really well last night. Looked sharp. There's too many players got their eye on the PL in that Rangers team, I'd clip them for a while and let the guys who actually want to play for the jersey. Gio also needs to stamp his authority on the team and assign his own captain as Tav was woeful.

Its seriously time for Tav to lose his place more often, as a wide player his crossing distribution is abysmal, rarely ever gets by the first man & when it does its near nobody! This new lad challenging for his place will be healthy and a step in the right direction.
It's the attitude that matters. If the players who are picked for the first team can't be bothered then the season is over. All eyes on Gio now to see how he copes with this squad.

Is no one else worried by our lack of spending for the entire season? Either undisclosed fees (which basically means peanuts) and loans is all we've brought in. With the constant losses every year getting larger year on year too I have to say I fear we are in big trouble financially.

Mate I was hoping you didn't make it, what a painful sight to see. I was actually driving working mostly but my god that was abysmal. That performance last night was genuinely horrific.
Tactics were all wrong, should have been pressing from the first second, not sitting back and letting them pick us apart. Felt sick seeing Roofe being the only one pressing any of their players.
Jack and arfield were the only 2 that looked like they wanted it. It was clear how much better defensively we were when Balogun came into CB. missed the man. Get bassey back on the LB position.
Kent was nullified down the left wing. Aribo didn't do that much. Barisic completely in fault for the third goal. Passing around the defence the majority of the second half whilst 3-0 down - again sickening.
I hope Gio has learnt from that, needs to change his tactics. Shouldn't be sitting off anyone when playing for rangers.

We play hearts on Sunday if we don't improve and get three points, and stop these defending mistakes I dread to think what will happen to my team.
I saw bb's eyes at very start of match he absolutely crapped it. Don't understand why Kent keeps getting played on the wrong side..don't get kamara getting took off
Kamara was awful last night. He needed to come off. His form since the winter break simply hasn't been good enough. On his day he's an excellent midfielder, but he's just not doing it at the moment. Our wide men and full backs were worse, though.

Complete neutral in all honesty. Rangers were all over the place in that game looked all over the place. Could be a one off but celtic looked miles ahead going off this one game.
Full respect no matter the result you always come on and deliver a vid. I have to say I seen this coming. Aberdeen, Ross County etc. We’ve lost our pressing game. We just sit back and let them play. Everybody but the management team knew how they were gonna play. The gap between midfield and defence is frightening. Players need to take responsibility for sure because I still stand by the fact on our day we are a better team than them. However they absolutely deserved this and it was coming eventually losing to them. Hungrier and more desire. Too many big players hid today but again the manager got tactics and personnel wrong. If Balogun and Jack can play that 45 for me they could play the whole game. Celtic were knackered after 60 but game was gone. Frustrating but we need to move on and Gio needs to learn fast that this sitting in and inviting pressure isn’t working. The amount of goals we’re leaking is frightening. We don’t have the players to play that system apart from Jack. But we need to get back into faces and impose ourselves. Morelos, Jack, Helander, Ramsey and Balogun need to come back into the fold. The Celtic manager has had half a season, so far he has had to build a squad hes won the league cup and sitting top of the league. By the end of the season gio will have had roughly half a season. He has a squad thats won the title, can anybody honestly say, having seen his tactics, formation and style of play that we will be top of the league with the Scottish cup under our belts. I personally can't see it and haven't been seeing it for a long time. I'm quietly fearing the worst, but hoping for the best !!!

We have Zukowski. Perhaps he can defend better than Tav. We have Bassey who can play at LB. Helander and Balogun can play together. I would make Jack captain. Have him and Ramsey play together with Aribo as a number 10. Play Diallo on the left Wing, Lowry or Wright on the right and Morelos up front. Then if someone doesn't perform drop them to the bench for the next hungry player.

As a neutral, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Rangers were absolutely terrible, it looked like Celtic vs some part time League 1 team.
Spot on - they fed off the 100% support on a Wednesday night floodlit game, and treated it like a European tie. The Rangers fans watching treated all the staged disco show as a pathetic laugh but the team seemed startled - astonishing naivety and lack of heart.

I feel sorry for Gio they embarrassed a legend of our club with that performance. Some of those players need their baws booted. I do believe we don't need to panic as there is a long way to go. Celtic will drop points. We need to find our ruthless streak and kill teams off and stop being beaten to every ball. It has to start with next game. We can still do it. We need to have faith. I want Goldson dropped. The sooner Helander and Balogun are at the back the better. I would also drop Barasic. Play Bassey at left back. I pray we get an Aaron Ramsey that gets himself fit and is right up for the challenge. I also pray Gio is ruthless like Advocaat was and ditch anyone to the bench that is not up to snuff. Gerrard always stuck with guys who weren't performing.

My thing is he needs to show he was seething but changing it for the next game. Let's see some changes let's see it shook up and I think he'll also be angry at himself and needs to look at himself too as equal as he'll be looking at the players..the tactics have been awful

Bassey LCB and Barasic LB does not work at all. Especially when Barasic is away with the fairies.
Bassey is a LB only and he should have Barasic's place.
Balogun CB made a house difference.
Good summary CJ. Difficult defeat to take due to the nature of it. My personal view is that some key squad members need to be moved on after that performance. Shame the game was not played in early January, or the manager could have done something about it.
Question - what did Gio coach during winter break that makes them play so poorly post shutdown?

No argument here. Celtic were right at it from the first minute. Rangers looked shell-shocked after 10 minutes. Thankfully it is only one game. Long way to go, but it's a sore one.

We've been playing with a left back as a centre back since Gio came in. I think you could see the difference with the experience of Balogun at the back and let's face it Bassey is our best Left back at the moment. Ryan Jack was the best player on the park in the second half. But it was all too little too late, we move on to the next game and focus all our frustration on hearts, let's go

That was a painful watch to say the least, everyone seemed lost from the start and i'm not sure what the gameplan was bar "dont let them score" which went up in flames literally in the time its taken to type this. The heads felt like they were down the second Celtic scored and we never really recovered. Need to see some kind of reaction against hearts now minimum. Jack needs to be starting again after that. I want to say something positive but I'm stumped. Gio has some job ahead of him if he didnt already.
They were totally rattled by the crowd. Its the first away old firm game since 2019 or something and most of the players have extremely poor records against them when the fans were there. Prior to last night I think Kent, tav, goldson etc had maybe just managed a draw at the piggery or maybe....one win as a consolation victory in the season where they'd already won the title or the first in front of away fans for kamara, aribo etc & the others it WAS their first old firm game so for gio to come out and say it was "as if" was their first old firm shows how little he stills knows about his squad! Spot on CJ! Good to see you back CJ! An embarrasing performance from our players. Should have there head in the shame. We knew it was coming but not like this. Our defence is worrying. We will lose the league to our defence it's far too weak. We can't press teams down. We need to tighten that defence!
Win, lose or draw we follow on CJ, but there are no excuses for that performance last night. Easily the worst against the other side of the city since the pre-Gerrard days. Far too many players disinterested and not playing for the badge and tactically absolutely atrocious. If what Rangers did in the first half was what GvB intended, then he got it very badly wrong. We were just completely outplayed by a team that showed genuine passion and will to win.

I feel that Gio's tactics have to be questioned here. From the first minute it was clear he wanted us to sit back and absorb the pressure and maybe hit on the break or win the game in the second half. Sitting back just instils fear and nerves throughout the team. Unacceptable. Should have been in the faces of that mobs new boys. O'Riley, Hatate and Jota should have had a kick up the arse in the first few minute to let them know what this fixture was going to be like. Instead we sat off, let them have possession and grow into the game. Hope Gio learns from this, although he should know better

We all know Barasic & Tav are not good defending so leaving them isolated was criminal, hate to say it but a Steven Gerrard Rangers team wins that game last night.
