You only have two tips "get organised" and "Put things back". Two things I have been try to get my wife to do forever,...But I still love her dearly. Thanks for the clarity.

Take your vacuum bags to a car wash. Often times they run free vacuums😉 might help you get a few extra inches. Beautiful van!

Oh that is a brilliant idea. I totally didn’t think about the vacuums at the car wash. We take Marlee to the car wash all the time but never use the vacuum cleaner. Thanks for that.
Thank you. We love her. She is the perfect van 😀

The vacuum sealed bags are wonderful and too few RV'rs utilize them. Another is the simple addition of naming the contents of canned goods on the top of the can. These both are game changers ! The only one left that you didn't mention is stuffing decorating pillow cases with clothing or off season clothing. Lovely to use when lounging and practical for storing .

Great video and tips again...lol! Once you transform your toe kicks into drawers lay your cans horizontal then you don't need to label them on the top, the perfect size height drawer for them. You can also have a normal door to the bathroom and that will give you space to have a towel rail to hang your towel on the outside when you're having your shower so it doesn't get wet and you can also have a towel rail on the inside. Walls and doors are very handy, it gives you space to use, you could have more upper cabinets under you original ones, but make them more shallow, I've seen many engineer van builders doing that, they have the cabinet door come down, rather than up for the shallow ones, then you can use it like a table and get to things behind and use it without having to close it also, if that makes sense. If you have a door that opens up into your cab it will stop the heat/cold and also lock everything away if someone broke into the cab part of the van and you could have it hinged so it opens both ways, put a port hole in it so you can view through it anytime and open it up if you wanted ventilation etc., and you could have a full length mirror on the door to open up the van even more. Thanks for listening, not sure if you like any of these ideas or will incorporate any of them. 🙃

Awesome tips again. Thank you. You are totally right about the door for the bathroom. We would love one. We have the sliding door but it slides back into the wall. It’s good but it’s not practical. We were thinking of adding one but trying to work out the best way. Our walls are thin. Great idea about the skirting boards. We would so stash wine in there hahaha. We have a blackout pull down between the cab and back. It does keep the heat in a bit but definitely a door would be more ideal. Thanks again for the great ideas 😀

@@VanLifeTheory thank you and you are very welcome. Yes, it's funny how many people put in the self cleaning sliding bathroom door, then it does away with being able to have more than one use, hopefully you can get one to fit. A curtain that goes around so the toilet doesn't get wet at all, I hate wet toilet seats as a woman...lol...and also so the door doesn't get wet etc., is another good idea, you can even get them made in linen in Australia, with a waterproof backing, so nice and automatically heavier so you don't have to worry about it sticking to you while showering. Yes, got to have a place for the wine. Yes, a solid door is perfect between the cab and the van, also for soundproofing too.

Great video with useful tips. I have noted that your gas springs for your cabinets is mounted incorrect, the piston should point downwards. So my tips to you is to reverse the gas springs, the way they are mounted now will shorten the lifetime, as the gasket isn't lubricated and will dry out, then gas will leak out after a while.

Thanks for for advice. A certified gas plumber installed this on the van. We will have a look.

    Hi guys
    your van looks awesome👍🏼💞
loved your video, lots of handy tips thankyou for sharing
I just recently got my small van, it has no cupboards for storage space only plastic tubs under the bed
I had to buy something inexpensive
but I love her, and with twin sliding doors it’s magic 🙂👍🏼
and the many adventures to come will be amazing fun times with my daughter and our small dog
    a dream come true 🙂💜
so with such minimal limited storage space i’m trying to get creative and think outside the box and am doing heaps of google searches looking for great ideas
one thing i did recently was search magnetic storage and found some magnetic spice jars (so i can keep them on the tailgate easy to reach when cooking ) i’m trying to find light weight baskets to attach around the edge of the roof and am planning to attach a cargo net for storing jackets / swimmers towels things we will want to be able to find and grab quickly..
I don’t have any drawers so all my food will need to be stored in a plastic tub which i will move to the front seat when vehicle is on site off the road. A few days ago I found some plastic cubes with doors n EBay (these are used to make cheap alternative wardrobe storeage) they are cheap so won’t be very strong but i thought i would give them a go see if i can stand them upright behind the front passenger seat and attach to the seat with an elastic octopus strap (hoping that will hold it firmly in place and give me some much needed storesge area for lightweight clothes , spare sheets pillow cases and Doona cover, and a few small food items like breakfast cereal, bread, tea coffee sugar etc. I’ve not received them as yet only just recently ordered them so really have no idea as yet if they will be suitable and do the job, fingers crossed 🤞🏼 Any more great ideas please send them my way (Facebook - Dianne Birch)

Hi, Thank you so much. Glad you liked our video. Your van sounds beautiful. It's going to be a great adventure van for your family.
Great idea about the spice jars and plastic cubes. Thank you. I think storage in a campervan is one of the hardest things. I feel you have to live in it for a month and work out what works and what doesn't and how things should be stored to be more practical. Everyone likes a different set up.
All the best with the set up and your campervan exploring. :)

Thank you so much for this info! Great stuff! The only thing that I need to input here though is that I don't think those plastic collapsible bowls are recyclable and after time, they usually break at the seams, so they just end up in landfills. Maybe most of them are recyclable now and I'm wrong? That would be great if so! Thank you again and safe travels to you both! (

With limited space, you have to prioritise 'need' above 'want', or you'll never have enough room for everything!

how did you put the puck lights on the bottom of your cabinets? Im looking to do that with mine but worried about the wiring and everything on the inside of the cabinet getting snagged on things.

    • @VanLifeTheory
      @VanLifeTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Tom, there was another layer of ply wood inside the cupboard covering the wires so we didn't catch on them when putting our containers back in. The owner before us built it, so we are not too sure exactly how he did it. All the best.
