I always liked how Sam, Bill and Harry got along and developed a friendship through their shared connection to Donna instead of being jealous over the other's relationships with her.
Cuz they are mature adults unlike some little children in adult bodies
They had more or less moved on from her, now she brings them all three back to this 'last summer' and wonderful memories, none of which competing with another.
@@RwoRomeo Sam had clearly not moved on hahaha
@@JF-sh2sm That's what I was thinking when as I typed "more or less" X)
Omg I loved that too! Brotherhood 🥺♥️
The way Colin Firth sings that first part of the song never fails to make me smile
He had to rehearse three days for this. You really have to work to make it look easy:)
Yes he’s awesome ❤
The way they talk, sing and laugh gives of the perfect dad vibes. It’s not clumsy and unprofessional, it’s caring and loving voices. They remind me of my own dad. The way he would sing in the car when he heard a song he liked, or when we turned on the stereo in the kitchen together with mom. Their voices reminds me of the way my dad would reassure me that I was always safe with him, and that he would protect me. And when they sang “You’re the hero of my dreams” I shed a tear or two. This song will forever be my safe space when I’m blue. Thanks ABBA, very cool.
Maybe he sounds the best of the trio because he is british😂 british people sound better when they sing in my opinion
Zhanna Fehling I don’t really know how this connects to anything but yeah I love British accents
You're talking about it and I just realised , that I have never experienced that...
@@szesza8942 Same here :(
That's why I love this version, because it's more realistic and relatable.
People keep telling how this song is most poorly sung in the whole movie but I think it sounds pretty adorable. It's the clumsy, unprofessional voices that make the song sound so natural ...
Absolutely!
From my point of veiw, it's the best song in the film: other songs are absolutely tasteless and actors play there like in a cheap parody. But this one is very lifefull.
That’s a great way to view it, they sang it so effortlessly and it was so calm.
So true😍👌👌👍👊
I completely agree!! This song is my favourite song in the whole movie, and it’s actually one of my favourite songs
Ilolklkewwdxxc7ofmyeewecxc🐭
owssdsewewedxxweeessaa3eesssewwwá mm sdswsww xx4😃😃😂😂
this song is so cute but sad in a way? idk it just makes me emotional
right??its like missing something you know you can’t go back to
I’m just sad because I want a life in Greece like this :(
PetraW3590 im actually in greece right now and have decided to never return... ive had the worst trip and currently suffering from heat stroke and i have these huge boils on my shoulders and im flying home today so ive had to wear a skirt as a top so that i dont have anything touching my shoulders (because im in agony if anything touched the blisters) so ill just be sat on the plane with my huge water blisters out and it will look rlly gross... sorry for over sharing lol, just kinda venting because it was sort of ironic that u mentioned greece and here i am in greece having a rlly bad time :/
olivia osullivan oh no!!! I’m really sorry you’re going through this... I wish you well in your recovery girly
PetraW3590 thank you so much! you’re so sweet, i am back home now thankfully
What I love about Mamma mia is that, in the end, it didn't matter who Sophie's biological father was.
but it was Sam anyways so
@@iamsarxh I actually think it's Bill. Even the author of the play has said that he is the most likely choice.
Joshua Soto there's no reason to be Bill. He even stays with Donna's friend in the second movie.
@@iamsarxh Well, I think that the reason why they never say who he is, is so that audiences choose who they want her father to be. Sam is the most obvious choice, which is why I don't like that theory. I like to think it's Bill anyways
@@joshuasoto6652 Well, I like to think it is Harry.. although it is the most unlikely choice... Harry really wants a child.. Sam has two boys, Bill loves Sophie, but is fine being a good uncle or father figure... But Harry like really wants to be her dad... also he proposed the idea of being one-third of the father, and also he is the first one who wanted to contribute to his "daughter's" wedding
Sophie's dad could be a James Bond, a Kingsman, or an Exorcist moonlighting as a Pirate. Good choices all around.
Kylan Parayao her dad is Sam Carmichael
im thinking harry
Screenwriters said is Bill xD
Kylan Parayao Sophie dad is James Bond I think maybe
also work for shield and once for Loki
Actually I love Harry‘s/Colin Firth‘s voice
Ok
Camaluni it’s Sams/Pierce Brosnan’s voice that most people hate never heard anything about the others
Me too
Fire Bros just scroll through the comments. There are a few comments about his voice, that’s why I wrote the comment.^^
omg I love him so much
i loved the sequel so much, but i will never forgive them for not making the dads look as ridiculous as they do in those pictures
Lol yeah
N
Omg right? I was so disappointed XD
i understand why they dont look the same, because then the movie wouldnt be taken seriously
Me too 😂. I expected them to look like they did in thoose photos. It was seriously dissapointing.
I dont understand why people say they sing badly, I see nothing wrong with how they sound
i know right, i'm so happy they didn't use autotune and make them sound like robots. this is SO much better than that new movie, i actually hated it... :) this movie is my guilty pleasure, i just love it no matter what anyone says
Nuclear Temptations Harry sings the best in MY opinion :3
Luca Callari nonono harry had to have colin firth as the actor, nobody could have done it better
Ikr!!!
They can't sing at all
Imagine having a third of your dad as:
- James Bond
- Mr. Darcy
- A famous Marvel Character

He’s now 59

jonathan abeles bruh I’ll always love him 😂🥺
I don't know why this version of the song calms me down a lot
I know
I’m gonna be honest
I’m crying and don’t know why
Me too.. I don't know why
I feel that. I have a reason though, this movie was my entire childhood. I was 4 when it came out and now I’m 16, and i'm still just as obsessed with it
Yova Di I Cried when i listened to it for the first time, and i tear up every time i hear it I DUNNO WHY🥺
If you are crying and don't know why you need to get more in touch with your feelings :P seriously.... You cry because you probably recall your childhood or because the song is beautifully written and sung
I am crying because this song reminds me of one hot Greek I would meet this summer. But corona virus ruined everything. Looks like I am not getting laid.. Maybe another year 😢
What I wouldn't give to hear a full acoustic version of just Colin Firth
i really wish he had that song as a solo on the album or something... like as a bonus
He sings and plays in The Importance of Being Earnest as well.
yes😩
Same tho
Ikr? I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I don't know why but this is my favorite scene of the movie. It is just beautiful to watch those 3 gentlemen and Sophie, and it does not even matter who's the real father. I could take a glimpse of their young days which we all do have and miss one day. love this movie!!!
This song was the glue that made the movie stick.
In bed at 1 am jamming to this in quarantine forgetting everything that's going on.

This is actually my favourite song from all of them.
Idk but it makes me feel so nostalgic about my own summer memories with my friends. ♥️
Love the movie and the cast!

That first 20 seconds is my favorite bit of any music of any song ever, it's just so beautiful
Edited for Grammar
Same mate, same. Colin firth's voice just exclude the warmth and loving feeling.
Hi
Honestly, I think we all need a version with only Collin firth singing to the guitar
Omg yes
agreed
Hello police please there is a strange island where everyone sings ABBA I think it’s a cult help
I ll be joining the cult
i would've joined they look so unprobelamatic
Sounds like a good cult
Im happily joining that cult
Please send me the location.. do that I can join this cult..😅
My best friend just had passed away last night. He is the one who introduced me ABBA and also we watched this movie together at the theatre in summer 2008. As soon as I saw the movie, it became my favorite movie, bought the DVD, audio CD and I can't even remember how many times I've watched this movie. This song comforts me so much. He meant so much to me. He suffered from leukemia so I hope he is now resting in no pain. Thank you for your music ABBA.

The sly smile Harry gives Sophie. Love the movie!!!
Taleisha Leisha at the end of the song? Omg that gets me every time. It’s so cute
watching this with daddy issues in quarantine hits different
Omg so true
Lol in these old pictures they are so wild than they’re in the sequel
yeah, donna had such short time with eachof them
Can we just pretend the sequel doesn't exist?
@IamVeryFrozen they ruined everything. They killed of Donna without reason, just because they wanted and that's awful because she's literally the main character. Then they got wrong the whole story of Donna and Sam and Bill and Harry, they only had to watch the first film to figure it out but they didn't. And then Cher appears as Donna's mother when they clearly stated that she had died and that she was very Catholic. I hated it a lot
@IamVeryFrozen she didn't, she actually wanted to participate in the movie, but they decided to kill her because she was at the moment working on another project. The problem is that the first film was based on the Broadway play, so I don't know why they decided to forget that and invent their own story when it was clear what the real story was. I mean I don't know, Mamma Mia has been one of my favorite musicals and I have seen the movie many times, so I know with every detail every single fact about the movie, that is why it made me so angry that they ruin the sequel. But maybe the people who watched it only a few times, liked it because they didn't pay attention to the details, like the fact that the mother was super catholic and that she was dead, and the whole background story.
@@justrandomthings6352 it made me really mad too. Donna specifacally said her mother told her to not come back home after she got pregnant but in sequel she never contacted her mother?
I actually think Colin Firth’s voice is laid back, it’s comforting
They're young versions here look nothing like in the second 😂
Edit: I didn't mind that much. Just thought they looked really different and funny 😂
james fukofuka only young character who looked close enough to the original was really Tonya
I said the same thing. Its so weird lol.
Madison Thorburn my thoughts exactly 😂
Does it really matter THAT much
Kevin May not really but it would have been nice to see the effort they put into connecting both movies. It's ok though 🤙
Honestly I think this song would be a lot better if it was just Colin singing. This beginning is so good, so peaceful, wonderful. 😍♥️
Bond's voice is better
2:32 Something about the way they harmonize makes me so sappy. (sad & happy) It's beautiful.
I want an explanation for 1:31
😂😂😂
I know which scene you mean without skipping😂
LMAO
Sabreen Islam hahaha I guess Harry went a bit crazy there 🤪😂
Waterloo?
0:10, fell in love with the song right there
“But underneath
We had a fear of flying
Of growing old
A fear of slowly dying”
That hits pretty hard.
Considering I first watched this when I was a kid and I'm now an adult, the lyrics get more and more real every year
この映画の中で一番好きな曲です。
It's like a lovely sing-along with friends. No one sounds professional but there's so much heart.
My fav song from the movie I know all the words
I know the whole movie by heart and can say the words before the actors
@@AsdAsd-xw3sg So you got memories that remains.
I just like the fact they are all her dad no matter what Sophie is their daughter for all three of them
Harry is my favourite character cause he's spontaneous.
Lyrics:
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
We made our way along the river
And we sat down in the grass by the Eiffel tower
I was so happy we had met
It was the age of no regret
Oh, yes
Those crazy years
That was the time of the flower-power
But underneath
We had a fear of flying
Of growing old
A fear of slowly dying
We took our chance
Like we were dancing our last dance
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam
Round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand
Paris restaurants
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day
Worries far away
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day
Worries far away
Our last summer
We could laugh and play
And now you're working in a bank
The family man, a football fan
And your name is Harry
How dull it seems
Yet, you were the hero of my dreams
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
Amke Durkstra
It’s not “yet you were were the hero of my dreams” it’s “are you the hero of my dreams’
And the top 3 lines of the last paragraph aren’t sung
Thank you
thankyou for this very much
Thanks

Colin Firth is brilliant. His voice is a mix of soulfulness and tenderness, and it apt suited for the song. His part of the song I love more than the original.
I think it is an in-thing to hate films that do not enjoy endorsement by the US-based IMDB crowd. Hence, not surprised to find so many panning the film and the singing. This is a feel-good film, and not supposed to cater to an arty crowd who love to endorse anything which is grim and vilify anything which is supposed to make you smile. Often teary-eyed.
Regarding the quality of singing, why expect perfection? Fathers are not supposed to be perfect singers. Accept them the way they are. Human. With limitations.
Yes indeed🎵👏❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love this movie but this is a very bad assessment of why people don't like it. It's okay to not understand other people's opinions instead of creating this pretentious hipster supervillain.
It's not like having a high score on iMDB protects a piece of media from the internet's wrath. Big Bang Theory has an 8.2, for example.
My favorite song of the film--Colin and Amanda knock their parts out of the park on an emotional level.
I just love the way he says “the time of the flower power”
Stellen Skarsgård ("Bill") sings that line.
Harry has such a nice voice! Although, his voice may be “clumsy” or “unprofessional” it really fits the whole natural vibe!😅😅😅
Yes indeed🎵👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
does anyone else notice Donna's GORGEOUS, high, prominent cheekbones? cuz their freakin' amazing!
ngl colin firth's singing voice is my aesthetic
Still one of the greatest movies ever - love this scene especially (one of my many favourite scenes and songs - too many to count!) and the voices plus song sound amazing! Gets me so emotional and feels so deep, beautiful, just shows their wonderful memories and relationships with Donna, how they found friendship within each other and now with Sophie! :)
hmm. seems like colin likes to play characters who's named "Harry"
and what makes you think harry bright didnt just change his last name to hart and become a spy? he’s spontaneous, remember!
@@joeycyanide1447 interesting theory...
Or Mark Darcy
or a character with the surname darcy....
He should've played as pottah
I'm a 55-year-old man and I never cry. Sometimes I have a small piece of dust in the corner of my eye that needs to be wiped away when I hear this.
There is just something about this movie that takes me back to the early 1980s when I would take trips to the Greek islands. And all of the girls that I met.
Girls???^^
This song warms my heart. I really feel the feeling of "our last summer"@
Everyone saying how it's unprofessionally sung but it's really the most beautiful song and it makes me so incredibly happy
This is one of my favorite song in this movie. Especially Colin sang very well...
This is one of my favs songs in the movie, like the clips, the moments, the laughs, it feels all natural to me and I love it 💗
I cried when they sing this lovely
This is such a sweet song 😍
I heard this song and saw Mamma Mia for the first time today and this scene just sent the strongest wave of emotion through me and I just cried. So sad and happy at the same time. Simply beautiful
Ps I adoooore Harry/Colin Firth's voice. So charming and full of emotion
This song and "Slipping through my fingers" *always* make me cry
Edit: Not to mention The winner takes it all
Collin Firth is so adorable and his voice is pretty good too
0:03 the way he says summer 😍😍
the most melancholic song in the film. Mamma Mia is pure fun. musicals are supposed to be like this. every moment and song was integral in telling the story and pushes it forward.
This song makes me cry 😢💗
Sophie🧡
This is Harry Headbanger's song and Colin Firth does a pretty great performance!
He didn't really want to sing in the movie either, because he said he couldn't sing that well, but I think he's smashed this, and if someone else had done it then it wouldn't be as good.
Donna calls him Harry Headbanger, His actually called Harry Bright
Sam (Pierce Brosnan) says “Promise” in the last scene even without asking! The magnitude of emotional bonding between father and daughter! Spectacular!
I will never be able to see this without getting all teary-eyed

My favourite performance on this movie. Colin's great job and effort on this.

There's just something so charming about Colin Firth and a guitar 😍
Originally, the song "Our Last Summer" was a duet between Donna Sheridan (Meryl Streep) and Harry Bright (Colin Firth).
Oh boy the Thor comments are already piling up 😂😂😂
This song makes me cry i love it to much
I just love the movie but I almost cried in the second movie when Donna was dead
I think it is because it is not perfecty sung why ist is so perfect.
In this scene you can belive they are real.
When this song came on when watching Thor Love and Thunder, I instantly remembered this scene!
I’m crying 😢 it’s 3am and I’m bingeing amazing songs
Really good song
I always fall asleep to this song
yeah this song is one of my favourites, specifically this version with the montage and everything. it’s so raw and authentic, it makes me smile so much. my heart is very warm
The second movie starts in 1979, but this is purely "Flower Power" 1960's. Somebody didn't get the dates right.
Lauren Montera honey those are just the song lyrics... a song that was written years before the musical
Lauren Montera it’s the lyric, also, they didn’t intend on making a sequel while making the first film.
I'm sure I read somewhere that this movie was set in the early to mid 90s so then I figured Donna met them in the early 70s. The early to mid 90s makes sense as Sky talks about putting the Villa online with online advertising only starting up in the early 90s. But then in the second movie they made it 79 that Donna met the guys meaning by the time Sophie was born it was probably 1980 and therefore 20 years later would have been 2000. So theres a bit on inconsistency with these times.
The timelines are way too messed up to really think about it. And one thing I noticed, if HWGA is set roughly 2004/2005, why do Sky and Sophie call each other on iPhone X's lmao
Well the movie is based off a play from the late 90s. This song made sense for the play. But the movie set the date in 2008 which made the song not fit perfectly. Oh well still good song for a good movie
Fav part of the movie
What if they played this version in Thor Love and Thunder instead because Eric Selvig sings in this one lol
its ironic the way that this is such a lovely and happy film but this song and this version of slipping through my fingers makes me sob my eyes out
She dives into the ocean in every scene. ❤️
