This song always makes me think of walking my daughter to school at age 6 or 7. We got near the entrance, she was holding my hand, and she said to me,”I hate leaving you”, then she said “bye” and skipped away like it was no big deal. Her senior year of high school she chose to sing this song at her senior recital. I wish I had recording. It was so precious, She is so precious.
It's that and the moment before when she asks her mom to giver her away. It's the perfect solution. She doesn't need a father, because she already has an amazing mother. Shout out to all the amazing single moms out there. You are incredible😊
Me my sister and my mom watched this movie, both me and my sister started quietly crying and our mom was so confused she asked why we were crying and we said “cause we love you” and then she started sobbing and we all sobbed for a while. Lovely time
I don't know if you all understand the weight of this scene of Donna getting her daughter ready for the wedding. It's not just about marriage, it's about looking back and seeing that yout little girl of yours finally grew up and became the most charming and incredible woman in the world! And, as the song says, you wish you had gone to more places than you planned, some you can do and some you can't and we just don't know why. I'm not a mother, but I'm a middle sister, so I always find myself crying when I see that my girls have grown up, the oldest is even married! So this scene has a lot of weight, both for mothers and daughters and I LOVE how in the second film, Donna appears singing "My love, My life" and shows that she would never leave her daughter behind.
I know that this song is for a mother and daughter, but I had no daughers, I had 3 sons, and the FEELING for ME is the SAME for my 3 sons (who are all grown and now in their mid/late 40s, and my eldest turned 50 in 2023. I STILL can relate to the words in this song, as they fit for me as well for my boys as they grew up and went out on their own. I LOVE this movie and CRY during this song EVERY TIME.
Hello patti, how are you doing? The movie is interesting, I have a 16year daughter. Wow you got lovely family. Sending greeting and good wishes to your way.
Other girls think of having their bridesmaids and makeup artists getting them ready, but this is the most perfect thing I can even think of. Simple, and so beautiful.

This movie was one of my favorite movies growing up and this just brings me to tears for so many different reasons. Hello XLilJay. The song is beautiful, I know this about mother and daughter love 😊. I have a teenage daughter am proud of too. How are you and your daughter doing? 😊 sending greeting and good wishes your way
@@XLilJayX1 yes I’m … thank for responding it been more than 3week I drop that comment 😊. Just happy your comment brought me back to this page. How is your day going? I live in NY and you?
The past almost 2 years of watching my own daughter grow up, this hits hard. I also danced with my mum to this song on my wedding day and yes we both sobbed. To her it was about seeing me grow up and marry the love of my life. For me it was about giving my daughter the absolute best life and maybe one day she will dance to this song with me at her wedding! ❤ in my feelings bad every time I hear this🥹😂
They really picked the perfect song for Meryl Streep, and she hits it out of the park with all the vulnerability and naturalness that the song and the scene require. Not many would have pulled this off without giving in to the temptation to show off. Meryl knows she doesn't have to.
Meryl Streep shows her acting chops perfectly in the simple mother-daughter moment... her sadness of losing her daughter after the marriage, her pride of seeing her daughter all grown-up to be a beautiful woman, her wish for her daughter's happiness... She truly deserves all accolades
I’m very fortunate to have a mom and dad who I love more than anything. I’m in college and living on my own for the first time. I’m only an hour away from home but I wanna call my mama and tell her to take me home 😭
Call me weird but I relate this song to a guy I met in high school. He was my classmate then became my neighbor and we were like best of friends. Because he lives alone, my family often takes care of him and because of that I grew attached. He's quite childish and always energetic. I took care of him a lot both in school and at home. This song was our fave cause we're both failed by our mothers and somehow found comfort in it lol. But now that he's moved to another country for college and with the different time zones I can't really catch up with him most of the time. It just hits different now, I wish I could've spend more time with him. He literally slipped through my fingers
It’s Mother’s Day I’m watching mama Mia then as usual this song. I’m crying I see my mom crying in the front yard watching school kids coming home. She said she missed us being that age made her heart hurt. I think back of my daughter her favorite place was in my arms or holding onto my leg cuddling on the couch and I cry. I see my daughter and granddaughter so close and I know some day soon her heart will ache for her little girl that grown.
Having a family that treats you like a trophy isn’t real love; true love is knowing you have a family that will never abandon you, no matter the circumstances. I often feel invisible, surrounded by silence, with no one to offer a kind word or to chase away the darkness that clouds my thoughts. It’s hard to carry that weight alone; it makes me believe I’m unlovable and that I’ll eventually let everyone down, leaving me completely isolated. This movie brings to life parts of me I’ve hidden away, and whenever that darkness threatens to overwhelm me, I find comfort in replaying this song. The bond between Donna and Sophie resonates deeply with me, healing wounds I didn’t even know I had. Their connection reminds me that even when I feel I don’t meet the world’s expectations, I can still find moments of joy and feel truly valued. I will never stop being grateful towards whomsoever made this film possible 🥹🫶
This song always make me cry. I wish I had a relationship with my mom. I wish she loved me and was nice to me like this. I’ll forever love this song because it helps me to imagine how it would be like to having a loving mom. I also love Meryl Streep 🥹❤️

I wish I could have sung this song to my two beautiful baby girls, the reason why I can’t sing it to them is because one passed in mommy’s tummy and the other one died in the hospital after 3 months and 5 days. I met my baby girl Stormie. I didn’t get to know my other precious baby because she was a still born her name was Melody, Love them both so much 🩷🩵 I’ll always remember those beautiful memories of my beautiful daughters!!
