      The weird thing was his prime was so early compared to everyone else. He was Evertons best player at 16 and hit his prime by like 21. The sad part was his career slowed down a lot by 27ish which is usually when the normal guys hit their prime. He was just an absolute superstar, the best English forward of my generation for sure

      It is totally unbelievable, but I can understand why. It is because of the trajectory of C Ronald's career. Robert started as the better and bigger talent.

    • @AdamSmith75th
      @AdamSmith75th 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@ekwejohnson6965 No I think Rooney at 16-20 was a far bigger talent than Ronaldo was. At 18, Rooney was playing at a world class level. Rooney’s career is really complicated. The difference between Ronaldo and Rooney was Ronaldo’s total unwavering dedication to his lifestyle. Ronaldo lived every single day with freakish precision and micromanagement over his health and body. He went on to become consistently world-class day in day out. From 16-26 Rooney was at his best, and he really was one of the best, but he didn’t maintain the consistent lifestyle needed and didn’t look after himself nearly as well as he should have. Plus he had far more injuries and off the pitch distractions.
      Years ago, around 2006, I remember reading an article from a top-flight physiotherapist who said that due to Rooneys body type, he will show significant physical decline each year after the age of 30. I remember completely disagree and I thought he couldn’t be more wrong seeing how great it really was at the time. Turns out he was absolutely spot on. I don’t think Rooney had much in him physically past 31-32, but Ronaldo at 37 still clearly has fantastic physique and it’s why he continue to play top-flight football.

    He made the team play better towards the latter part of his Utd career. I haven't seen anyone else dictate the game from the #10 position like that. Instances where the ball should have gone sideways and backwards instead finds its way to the winger in space because his workrate gives the midfielders another option to keep the attack going, and his long passing was always excellent.

    This guy is the most underrated legend I've ever seen in my lifetime.
    There was a time when he was rumored in the Chelsea transfer and I was praying for him to become a chelsea player because he was nothing but a 90+ minute workhorse and we never really had that since Makelele.
    We were fortunate enough to have Lampard and later Fabregas who bridged the gap and made us live without that midfield playmaker.
    In my book rooney comes before Cristiano as a legend

    Not many achieve anything close to what this young lad has done and his playing career is already behind him. Hats off to him he has matured into a humble human being from the little rebel he once was. Stats do not lie, he was a wonderful player, one of the best of a generation. and could now become a legend as a manager, is there anything he can't do? I guess he could never become manager of LFC !! even Rooney couldn't pull that one off sometimes somethings, no matter who you, are just impossible to achieve.

    If ever England needed a player with a bit of devil in them like Rooney or Gerrard had it's now. It's a big thing we are missing. It's like we've got a bunch of really good well brought up lads & no council estate street urchins who are scared of no one. Being from a deprived poor area myself I always believe that. But I honestly believe if the current England team had 2 or 3 of that type of player. We would have won that elusive trophy. England dont have that in their ranks. Maybe Pickford is but he's a keeper & can't influence the outfield players much.
